Chapter 5

Hazel Sleh

I could feel his teeth on my skin as I closed my eyes to feel the most beautiful feeling. They say marking is painful, but it all turns into a weird kind of pleasure. His teeth pierced through my skin as I bit on my lips, trying to alleviate all the pain. I was waiting for pleasure to take over my pain, but that never happened. The pain just increased as his teeth dug deeper into my neck. I closed my eyes tightly, not able to take it anymore. His teeth retracted, sending me into more pain. I fell to the ground as he let go of me. I held my neck in pain. He is my mate; I can feel it. Then, why is it hurting so much? Is it because I don't have a wolf? Probably.....

"Hazel Sleh..." He called for me, and I looked at him. "You thought I would want you?" He asked, making me confused. "You don't even have a wolf! In what ways do you think I'll accept you?" My eyes went wide at his words. I trusted him... No, I mean, I trusted his wolf, and these words were coming from his wolf. "I Rodge, wolf of Jared Smith, and the Beta of the Redwood pack REJECT you, Hazel Sleh, as my mate." He gave his sinister smile, breaking my heart into many pieces.

"Aghhhhh...." I screamed as the pain increased. Blood was dripping down my neck, and I started feeling very weak.

"I just want you to die... I would have killed you in the woods. But that shitty eagle of yours He looked annoyed. "You know what? I couldn't kill you then. I'll kill you now." He left the house, banging on the door behind him.

I could feel the cold blood running down my body from my neck. I checked the hand that had covered my mark, and it was completely covered with blood. I stood up with no energy left in my body and started searching for my first aid kit, but I didn't find one.

"AGHHHHH!!" I screamed, annoyed. I searched my room again in search of something that could reduce my pain, and, by God's grace, I found turmeric. I bought this last time, thinking it was ginger. Knowing turmeric is an antioxidant, I peeled the skin out and shredded it before applying it to the mark. I know I should powder it before applying it, but right now I don't care. The pain reduced a little as I sat down on the floor, breathing in relief. But suddenly, a second wave of pain spread across my neck and body.

"Aghhhh...." I screamed as the pain became unbearable. "Aghh..... Aghh...." The pain kept increasing. I felt like it would be better to die than go through this pain. I felt like someone was hammering tons of pins into me. "Aghhh..." I screamed again as I heard Chilli whistling at the same time. He sat beside me and looked at me helplessly. I started crying in pain. There was a point where my pain increased so much that I wanted to give up. I closed my eyes, knowing this was all I had left—I was dying. Black dots started to form, and then it was completely black.

I woke up to the sun hitting straight into my eyes. Stretching out, I lazily walked to my bathroom. Wait. Hazzy found her mate yesterday. I have to check on her...

I brushed my teeth as fast as possible and ran down the stairs. But I came across an angry Alpha. Why is he being so grumpy early in the morning? I slowly walked towards them.

"WHERE THE HELL IS SHE?" He screamed.

"None of us have seen her since morning, Alpha." An omega replied. Who are they talking about...?

"Aghh... Go get her and make sure the breakfast is ready by the next half hour." The Alpha ordered. Wait. Is breakfast not ready? How is that possible? Shit! This means Hazel didn't come on time. I should stop them.

"Alpha..." I called him. He looked at me and smiled. "I'm sorry... Last night, I met Hazel. I asked her not to come here today. I'm really sorry." I apologized. Everyone stopped what they were doing and looked at me.

"Why?" The Alpha asked in his so-called Alpha tone.

"She was down with the flu." I said as I showed my neck in submission. "I didn't want anyone from the pack house to be infected by her. I'm really sorry." He was silent for a minute before coming closer to me.

"Good job." He patted my cheek, shocking me. "I'm happy that you are concerned about your pack members. This shows how good of a leader you are. Florida, take the omegas and go cook today's food." He ordered an omega.

I have to go to the woods and check on her. With that thought in mind, I turned around and started walking towards the door.

"Birthday girl... Where are you going?" I was stopped by Jack, the future alpha.

"I... I am... I am going to school." I lied.

"Oh, like this?" He asked me. I looked down and realized I was still in my pajamas. I smiled and ran back to my room. I got ready and sneaked out of the house. But did not succeed, as I saw Clayton and Jack waiting for me with a car. I think I can only meet her at school or in the evening.

I had not seen Jared nor had I seen Hazel in school since this morning. It was already lunchtime, and I waited impatiently for some miracle to happen and Hazel to come. That miracle didn't happen, but Jared came.

"Where is Hazel?" I asked him the minute he sat down for lunch.

"Why are you asking me?" He looked at me in disbelief.

"Why wouldn't I? She is your..."

Stop!! He interrupted me by mind-linking me to stop.

Why? I asked him through the mind-link.

They don't know.

So?

I don't want them to know yet. I'll tell them on my own. He informed.

Okay! Then tell me where Hazzy is and why she isn't here.

I don't know... I seriously don't. The last time I met her was in her room. He informed me, and I rolled my eyes at him. Aghhh. I won't be able to come to college for a week from tomorrow, and where the hell is Hazel!?
