Reindar - Inmate 78

"Little boy's finally awake" A voice came from inside the cell. I thought I was alone…it's too dark that I couldn't see anyone.

"Over here boy" A candle was lit and a face glamouring a bald scarred head and a smile showing off a scar going across his lips. I looked at him in confusion, still not having fully processed everything that had led to me being here.

"You look like you got a lot on your mind. What you in here for?"

I look over at the cell door's slit "I fought some guards. Probably thought I stole something from a store. Tried to fight back but was too tired"

He let out a chuckle "too tired? That's one way to say you couldn't fight back"

"Bet you're made of twigs" He added, raising his pinky

That struck a nerve. I never ate well in the illusionary world so I grew up with a smaller frame, but it didn't mean I was weak.

"Clone"

Zaretno, the cube containing all of my powers, spewed out a clone; a unique ability I had copied from my mentor in my world that creates clones of yourself.

"What the hell just happened? What's that? Why're there two of you?" He rubbed his eyes

"Am I seeing things?"

"You're not seeing things…I can make clones of myself. Like I said, I was tired. Made of twigs? I can suffocate you in a pile of them."

"Woah chill…relax don't take it to heart was just a joke man"

The clone dissipated. It couldn't last for long, I was still exhausted and lacked mental clarity what with all this confusion and frustration.

A loud knock came at the door and 2 plates of what looked like a pile of brown-coloured powdered white rice and a cup of water floated into the room through the slit.

"That's your cup inmate number 45. Inmate 78, present your cup."

The man stood up from the floor and held the cup in the slit's line of sight, a distance away from it. Water then floated into the cup.

I grabbed my plate and cup from the ground and 78 did too.

"We eat with our hands?" I asked, not addressing the food floating into the cell and my intrigue at that ability assuming that it must be common to see something like this in this world.

He laughed loudly with his mouth full of his food. "Yeah where you think you are, some resto?"

"What's your name, boy?"

"Don't call me boy. I may look young but I'm 23. Name's Reindar"

"Got a lot of angst for your age, 45. Fancy meeting you, name's Vort, but call me 78. We don't have names here, just numbers."

"Then why'd you ask for my name and tell me yours?"

"I guess I'm just sentimental like that. Been living in this hell-hole 20 years now."

"20 years? What got you here for that?"

"Oh you know. Revolution"

He rolled up his uniform's sleeve to show a purple-colored glowing tattoo of a wooden shield and rake.

"What's that symbol mean?"

"Means adventurers, soldiers, peasants and alike being united. No coins on my skin, only tools and shining hope for man."

I chuckled lightly "You're an interesting guy. I feel like we'll get along"

"Just watch your back. This place can be more dangerous than you think. Clones are nothing to the kind of people in this place."

The door suddenly slammed open and I suddenly found myself not in the cell, but in a large open sand pit hearing people cheering and screaming.
