When Leah exited the washroom, she saw Zed standing near its door like a door god, his eyes blank and his facial expression empty. With his hands in his pockets, he looked at Zhou Chun as if she were an insect.
On the other hand, Zhou Chun pointed at him with an angry expression. She appeared constipated, as if struggling to release a fart but was unable to do so due to embarrassment.
"What happened?" Leah looked back and forth between them, confused.
+++++
After Leah entered and closed the washroom door, Zed followed and stood before it. Anyone in the room could see the hurried pace of his footsteps and the apparent joy in his eyes, contrasting with his stoic expression. Upon closer inspection, his lips were slightly curled as if attempting to form a smile on his face that seemed frozen in a state similar to facial paralysis.
Noticing this, Zhou Chun became anxious. She could tell that this man harbored feelings for Liu Leah. There was even a trace of obsession in his eyes. Zhou Chun approached, standing before Zed, and asked, "Are you Yang Zed, the young Miss's new head of security?"
Zed glanced down at Leah's assistant, sensing her emotions weren't in his favor. Before meeting Leah, he couldn't discern feelings or interpret facial expressions well. He could only guess correctly about fifty to sixty percent of the time. Now, however, he could see right through Zhou Chun. Due to his condition, he had previously studied and practiced facial expressions and microexpressions. Now that he could feel emotions, he understood them and amplified this ability, if you could call it that.
"Yes," Zed replied curtly, with just a single word.
He fixed his gaze on Zhou Chun's eyes and face throughout, attempting to decipher what was happening in her mind.
Zed's penetrating stare, as if he could read her soul, didn't deter Zhou Chun. Despite his unintentional intimidation, she knew she had to do everything possible to protect her young Miss. She couldn't afford to repeat what happened six days ago.
"What is your current relationship with Miss Leah?" she asked again, feeling as though a random, giant, black, stoic bear had just dropped by to snatch her carefully collected honey.
"Her twenty-four-seven personal guard," Zed replied promptly.
Zhou Chun nodded in acknowledgment.
"Her temporary guardian," he added.
Zhou Chun nodded once more at Zed's response. Liu Aiden and Liu Fang had appointed him as a proxy for Liu Leah when they were not present. Considering her young Miss's antics over the past two months, both Liu Leah's parents couldn't take any more risks, especially after what happened six days ago.
'How's that?', you ask?. Well, with the Liu family's connections and background, they uncovered everything they could about the person named Yang Zed. Based on their investigation, he was trustworthy enough. He was a stranger without connections to their family's allies or enemies. Moreover, though dangerous, his previous missions boasted a ninety-nine percent completion rate.
His superiors vouched for him heavily with high praises. Additionally, the Liu family put numerous safety nets in place if things went awry. This highlighted just how precious Liu Leah was to the Liu family.
Zed continued, his words carrying his sincere and honest wish.
"Her future boyfriend."
"Her future husband."
The subsequent response left Zhou Chun stunned to the point that if you looked at her, her eyes resembled those of an owl's, while her mouth resembled a fish gasping for air on the water's surface. You could even fit an entire egg in there.
Zed's posture relaxed, both arms casually tucked into his pockets. Though his gaze remained fixed on Zhou Chun, his mind had wandered into a fantasy land where he could envision himself and Leah in their wedding attire.
"And the father of her children," he added wistfully, imagining a pouting pregnant Leah tenderly holding their daughter's hand while looking at him.
During his days with Leah, Zed had become increasingly ambitious and possessive. He found himself unable to resist these thoughts. Technically obsessed, he feared going insane if he couldn't win Leah.
An agitated Zhou Chun pointed her finger at Zed, her voice trembling as she uttered, "You're not qualified!"
Zed smiled, his expression causing a skip in Zhou Chun's heart. She was shocked by her own reaction.
She bit her lip in frustration. "Is it his handsome face or his great body?" she asked herself, exasperated. "That must be it. Our young miss got captivated by this face and body. I agree it's better than Wang Haoran's, but still..."
Zhou Chun found herself momentarily mesmerized by his smile and handsome face, but that was all—nothing more. She preferred a feminine, beautiful man, or better yet, an androgynous one. Someone who obediently waited for her at home, who took care of the kids and household chores, and most importantly, someone with a feminine, beautiful face.
Her anger flared as she heard what Zed said next.
"Not qualified enough compared to Wang Haoran?" Zed frowned, his gaze piercing as he looked at Zhou Chun as if she were nothing more than an insect. The thought of not having Leah by his side made life seem not worth living. Anyone who stood in his way must be removed. However, as he sensed Leah about to open the washroom door, he forced himself to calm down, his expression becoming blank and devoid of emotion.
Zhou Chun had heard from Liu Aiden that the young miss she knew from two months ago was back and wanted to deal with Wang Haoran herself, just as she used to handle scheming snakes during her younger days. At first, she couldn't believe it, but observing how Leah was acting and treating this man, it was clear that their young miss must have opened her eyes and moved on from her obsession with Wang Haoran.
Who would believe that the Liu Leah they knew from two months ago had been devoured and replaced by a fake who had fallen madly in love and obsessed with Wang Haoran, to the point of disregarding her Pbucks until her soul got terminated, or perhaps even devoured?
Nobody would know.
In this world, they believed that the change they saw in Liu Leah was due to her being madly in love with Wang Haoran and unable to accept the betrayal she felt when he accepted a mistress.
"What happened?" someone asked, breaking the heavy silence.
Hearing Leah's question, Zed and Zhou Chun broke their silent war.
In reality, Leah had heard their banter, especially what Zed had said about his future position in her life. She didn't know how to feel about it. Before she entered the washroom, she had just been kidding when she talked about the non-existent daughter, but it seemed like Zed was seriously pursuing her with marriage in mind.
"I feel like trash playing with his sincere affection," she thought, frowning at herself. With the God system's excessive demands, she decided to draw a line in her relationship with Zed until she found a way to hide her activities from the God system.
"So much for a vacation. Maybe in the next world, I can let loose," she mused, hoping that she could infiltrate some more critical systems before leaving this world.
Leah was very interested in the God system. A gleam flashed in her eyes as she thought about it.
Knock! Knock! Knock!
"The chef is here," one of the guards announced loudly, making their presence known to everyone inside the room. The other guard kept a vigilant eye on the chef and his two assistants, each pushing a meal trolley.
All three turned simultaneously to look at the door.
"Enter," Zed commanded.
