Chapter 1: Let the games begin!

"Welcome players to PSY-LIVE!"

The figure yelled out, spreading its arms as if welcoming them to its home.

"Where are we?"

"Why are we here?"

"Who are you?"

Several questions were hurled at the figure as the people wanted answers and most of them seemed not to appreciate his hospitality.

The being didn't seem to mind the questions and hostility as it waved its arms as if telling them to calm down before continuing its dialogue.

"I know you human are concerned about your location but don't worry, you're in safe hands…for now. I brought you here to obtain a champion."

"Champion? "Vincent muttered in confusion as he stared up to the figure.

"What is he talking about?" Lu Chen asked as he turned his head to look at Vincent.

"I can't say much but just know your world is going to through a change and in the process, I estimate about 90% of you will die." The figure stated with glaring at the horrified faces of the people below him.

"Yeah, unfortunate right but don't worry after this you will have the power to protect and stand on top of your world. In addition to that, at the end of this game, I'll pick a champion among you and basically make the strongest in your world." The figure proclaimed, making various gestures which only indicated him as very expressive in his mannerisms.

"Any questions?" The figure asked glancing at them.

"Yeah, why are you doing this." Vincent raised his arm, startling Lu Chen.

"Simple actually …. I lost a bet." The figure lamented, looking at the sky as if he was in a drama sitcom.

"Huh." Everyone's expression turned to irritation as they stared down the figure.

"Yes, it was unfortunate, but I got to keep my end of the bargain." The figure ignored them as it continued.

"Okay then, if that's all then I shall explain the game to you and be on my way."

"PSY Live is what you humans call a survival games, there are monsters based on our world and ours. Your goal is to survive for a whole month in this world while monsters are around. You have been provided with weapons and clothing in your bags."

"Although survival is key, I bring you another offer."

"For every monster killed, you will gain points which will be shown on your watch and can then be used to buy equipment and potions and at the end of the game your remaining points will be used to grant you a special talent…. Don't ask me what talents are."

"If you think that was good, I borrowed another trope and some of may be wandering why PSY LIFE. Well in the mist of you…"

"Are 50 psychopaths! These psychoses have varying amounts of madness, but they all have one mission."

"Their mission is to kill you the norms and with each kill, they gain additional points. At the end of this, one of my fellow…uhm friends, yeah friends will also make them his champion." He finally finished his long explanation.

"There are a couple of rules which I should mention." The figure said pulling out a long scroll, coughing before reading it.

"Rule 1: Do whatever you want, there are no rules." The figure grinned behind the cloak.

"Oh, and you'll have to spin the lottery to gain a random skill before the game begins so good luck!" The figure sped through as he slowly dissipated in nothingness.

"What the hell just happened?" Lu Chen asked his mind still trying to compute his situation.

"Seems I was right, we're in a survival death game." Vincent stated, his expression contrasted to Lu Chen as he was surprisingly calm.

[Lottery]

A holographic screen of a lottery wheel appeared in front of them, causing them to widen their eyes as noises rang out all around the room, indicating they weren't the only ones.

Before they could even contemplate what was happening, the wheel started to spin by itself, bringing a loud silence to the room as the wheel stopped on every one's screen.

[Lets the games begin]

A voice sounded in everyone's head, alerting everyone and bringing them from their trance. Vincent looked up at the sky as if he sensed something above them, he turned towards Lu Chen.

"Chen, we should leave." Vincent stated, looking at Lu Chen with anxious eyes.

"Huh"

Just then, a sound sounded from the forest. It was like an object was stabbing into the ground repeatedly as the noise got closer and the trees parted way for the creature.

The entire crowd just stayed in silence as if they wanted to see the source of the noise but as the figure came into view, they wished they were miles away. They gasped in fear as the 11-foot creature walked in front of them.

And there it was, the 11-foot-tall spider. It looked like a normal spider with its eight legs and eyes and its hairy legs, the thing that made them cower in fear was its blood red and visibly gleaming eyes.

In that second, no one moved with both parties just staring at each other but then an overanxious human grabbed his gun, pointed it at the passive creature, and began to shoot at it.

However, the bullets did nothing as they hit the spider ridiculously hard exoskeleton except scattering along the ground with no damage done to the spider.

Scrrreeeeecchh.

The spider became pissed at them as it let out a loud snarl before charging at them with murder on its mind. The crowd seemed to react to this as they all began to scatter into the woods trying to evade the spider.

The spider first headed for the guy who shot it, although he was relatively fast it only took six steps to catch him. The spider opened its maw releasing a liquid substance on the human. The man fell down in agony as the poison burned his skin but his pain didn't last long as the spider grabbed him with its claws raising him up to its face.

The man cried in pain and regret as he tried to call out for help, but the spider licked his teeth before biting into him, eating half of his body while dropping the other half.

It then turned to a group of people who were still in its range of vison before charging at them with speed.

it didn't take long to reach them but instead of aiming a particular one to spray, it let out a massive amount on them, managing to hit all of them as they fell to the ground but one of them was lucky as the venom only touched her back, so she forced through the pain and ran into the forest.

The spider didn't her mind as it watched her leave, rather it turned towards those it caught with its mouth twisted into an evil grin.

Ahhhhhhh!

Help!

Screams echoed behind her as she ran deeper into the forest, tears running down her face from the pain on her back and after a couple seconds, she dropped to the ground.

"Are you alright." A voice sounded in front of her, prompting her to force herself to look up to see the owner.

In front of her, a dark-haired Japanese boy stared at her with his blue eyes although he was fairly good-looking, her attention quickly shifted from him to another male standing beside him.

He had short platinum blonde hair with jade green eyes, and she knew he could be one of the world's top models if he wished to, but his expression was cold and alert as if he as wary of her.

"Vincent, we should help her." Lu Chen urged as he turned over to Vincent.

"Fine." Vincent agreed without a third thought.

"What?" Lu Chen spaced out for moment, in disbelief about his agreement.

"Why" Vincent asked in correlation to Lu Chen's expression.

"I didn't expect you to easily agree." Lu Chen scratched the back of his head.

"Come on, you have literally known me for about 10 minutes now how could you think I wouldn't people in need, I'm not that bad." Vincent joked as he bent down, picking the girl up "princess style".

"Let's get moving before the spider finishes its meal." Vincent said as they started to start running through the forest but after a solid minute of running, they stopped to rest by a tree.

Vincent placed the female gently by a tree before going through the bag for anything useful.

After a solid 10 seconds, he already knew everything that was in the bag, to name them, clothes, guns, flashlight, dagger, ammo, a circular container which contains three flasks of some red liquid, and four of some green liquid but most important a map.

"Vincent, what is that."

"It's a map, hopefully I can know where we are and where we can actually rest without any monsters attempting to kill us." Vincent spared him a glance.

"Yeah, like the spider." Lu Chen lamented, remembering the past incident that just occurred a few minutes ago.

"No, the spider was that guy's fault." Vincent interjected.

"Like any animal, it attacks anything that harms it to protect itself and it determined us as threats due to the fire." Vincent exclaimed without still sparing him a glance.

"What do you mean?" Lu Chen questioned in his confusion about what Vincent said.

"Let me put it like this, if one night you wake up to a squad of robbers who all have weapons and they attacked you wouldn't you want to kill them in self retaliation." Vincent stated.

"That's another way of looking at it but still, those were other people."

"Okay Chen you seem not to understand our situation, we were put into this game by a god to see who his right-hand man would be, and we were put into this game with psychopaths who want to kill us. This game isn't where everyone one of us gets to live, just like in the wild, only the strongest survive." Vincent explained, rising up before walk closer to Lu Chen.

"Bu-"

"Shush!" Vincent stopped him mid-word, closing his mouth with his finger.

"But"

"I said Shush! I hear something coming this way." Vincent persisted closing his eyes as he let his ears take over.

"There, they are three distinct running patterns….no four." Vincent pointed in a direction before leaving Lu Chen's mouth alone and grabbing his gun from his bag.

Lu Chen was surprised by this action and ran for the woman as Vincent stood in front of him. Vincent turned his head to find him protecting the woman with his gun pointed in that direction.

"I can't let it happen again." Lu Chen thought as he looked at the direction, his finger on the trigger and his eyes full of determination.

"Simp." Vincent mumbled to himself before turning his head back for anything.

"What is on the other side, a monster, or human?"
