Prototypes

Since the unexpected death of her daughter, Dr. Choi has been involved in continuing her human cloning project, but with one goal in mind: to bring her "daughter" back. The point at the time is that Choi's research resulted in three different types of DNA, but they were quite close to her daughter's initial DNA. The doctor knows that she is already a bit old to conceive another child, so she turns to three women to continue with the plan and obtain what was taken from her a few years ago. Choi's pain started three different stories. Three girls who would be born after nine months, but also a lot of suffering and anguish due to a trauma that she could never overcome.

Chapter 20

—It's true. —Said the girl who was watching her from the white frame of the mirror.

—No, it is not. —Denied the little girl, Elena, who was in front of that "girl".

—That is true!

—That is not true!

The atmosphere inside the bathroom was too tense for these two children.

—Damn it, Elena. It's true, one day it will happen to you, you little idiot. —Said the girl in the mirror. —Someday you will be completely alone. Why can't you understand it?

—Because it's not true. Why are you so cruel to me? My mommy says you shouldn't curse. —The little girl sobbed.

—Well, your mommy is a fool. Maybe we will be identical, Elena, and we will have the same name, but I am not part of your family. I would never be related to a stupid bitch like you.

Elena heard, then, the sound of her bedroom door opening and footsteps approaching the bathroom. As she could, she grabbed the towel and wiped away the tears that were slipping down her cheeks. It was martyrdom having to go to the bathroom and argue with that girl in the white frame mirror. She really did not like her, but she could not help it. As soon as a few seconds passed looking in the mirror and she appeared, like a ghost.

She treated her in the worst way, insulting her and calling her in a thousand and one horrible ways, breaking her heart. She didn't even know the girl in the mirror, but she looked so much like herself that it gave her chills. It was terrifying. Mom used to say that she was her imaginary friend, but that girl did not deserve to be called her friend. She hated her too much and she did not know how to push her away. Well, she knew; only when someone else walked into that bathroom, but it didn't always happen.

—Elena! What are you doing that takes so long?

And said and done, the girl in the mirror disappeared.

—I'm sorry, Mom. I was brushing my teeth.

—It's getting late for school, let's go! —Said the lady, grabbing the hand of her daughter.

Elena was relieved because she was no longer in that bathroom and she no longer talked —fought— with that girl. Her mother had saved her again, scaring off the demon that was hiding in her room. However, the most important thing was that she had not seen her tears, which worried her a lot.

Usually, her babysitter took her to school, but her mother had asked for that day off to accompany her daughter to the first day of school. Without a doubt, Elena loved her with all her heart and for that reason, she did not want to cause her any problems. Her family was of two, just her mother and her, both against the world, so she didn't want to ruin the woman's busy schedule who gave her life. Not after she became the sole supporter of her life.

Elena was sure that she could keep the mess that was forming in her bathroom under control. She was capable of anything. She could fix it before it dispersed and ruined her life completely.

Or maybe not.

I think that the girl in the mirror is Elena's reflection. What do you guys think?
