L Orpheus and Danny exchanged a glance before beginning to make their way to the location he had described. Orpheus couldn't help but feel a sense of unease as he thought about what the boy had said. "If you transform into your wolf," the boy had remarked with a curious glint in his eye.
This statement struck a chord within Orpheus, causing him to be lost in thought for a moment. He had been a vampire for centuries, and during that time, he had never fully transformed into his wolf form. The reason for this was simple - his wolf, Dylan, despised him.
Orpheus had always experienced a constant internal struggle between his vampire and wolf sides. Dylan, his wolf, had always been fiercely independent, refusing to be subjugated by the vampire side of him. This resulted in Orpheus never being able to fully control his wolf form.
The idea of wolves and vampires coexisting in one body was nothing short of a far-fetched dream. The mere thought of transformation filled Orpheus with anxiety and apprehension.
As the sun gradually descended below the horizon, Orpheus and Danny persistently navigated through their journey, tracing the path that had been revealed to them by a young boy. The duo had embarked on a long and arduous trek through a dense forest and crowded city streets, enduring a tiresome journey that had left them feeling parched. They hadn't consumed blood for quite some time, and the increasing thirst was starting to take a toll on their bodies. Although Orpheus and Danny were legacy vampires, creatures that could survive without blood for extended periods, they could feel the physical strain of their dehydration. Their insides were writhing with thirst, and their limbs felt heavy and lethargic.
As they finally arrived at the bridge marking the border between the Hale province and Riverdale, they couldn't help but feel drained and exhausted. The journey that would have taken them mere minutes before now seemed to have lasted an eternity. Their faces looked paler than usual, and their superhuman speed seemed to have deserted them. This left them feeling frustrated, as they were used to being able to move at lightning-fast speeds. Orpheus' wolf, who was usually quiet, seemed to be uneasy, as the crescent full moon was due to appear in just a few days. This particular type of full moon only occurs once every ten centuries.
When the crescent moon rise to its apex, a transformation takes place within a wolf. The wolf became an ultimate predator, driven by an instinctual need to hunt and kill. Its senses were heightened, and every sound and every movement in the darkness was detected with ease. It moved with effortless grace, its fur rippling in the moonlight as it stalked its prey. The hunter becomes the hunted. A wolf move with calculated precision, closing in on its target with deadly accuracy. The hunt could last for hours, the wolf never tiring, never giving up until it had captured its prey or the moon had set. The crescent moon was a sight to behold, a reminder of the raw power and beauty of nature, and a testament to the sheer determination and strength of the wolf.
As they journeyed towards Riverdale, they couldn't help but notice the stark contrast between this town and the ones they had visited before. The desolate streets were eerily quiet, devoid of any human activity. But their determination to find the building in the picture they had been searching for pushed them forward. They trudged on until they reached the outskirts of the town, and that's when Danny's keen eyesight picked out the tallest building in the distance. The building had a magnificent structure, with a grand entrance and intricate designs adorning its exterior. Danny couldn't contain his excitement as he realized that the building resembled the one in the picture. "We found it, we found the building!" he exclaimed, his voice echoing through the silent streets. Orpheus nodded in agreement, feeling a sense of relief wash over him that their long search was finally over.
Orpheus and Danny arrived at the entrance of a grand mansion. They rang the bell and soon enough, a security man appeared, eyeing them suspiciously. "What is your business here?" he asked gruffly.
"I am here to see your master," Orpheus replied, trying to maintain his calm demeanor.
The security man sneered, looking at their strange clothing. "Sorry, my master doesn't talk to weirdos. I mean, what are y'all wearing? Are y'all cavemen or something?"
Orpheus felt his frustration rising and his patience wearing thin. He knew he didn't have the patience to exchange words with the man, so he decided to use his mind control on the security man. "Take me to your master," he demanded firmly, exerting his powers over the man.
The security guard opened the main door, allowing Orpheus and Danny to enter the house. The security's master, Raymond, was surprised to see strangers being brought in. He quickly asked, "Who are you, and what are you doing in my house?"
"I think you should rephrase that to mean 'my house'," Orpheus said as he sat down.
"What do you mean? I don't remember selling this house," Raymond responded rudely.
Orpheus then presented a picture and said, "Your ancestor agreed with my family centuries ago to act as our guide whenever we visit the human realm. Or did your father never tell you?"
He continued, "Ten centuries ago, your ancestor, Jayden Mitchell, was a poor fisherman struggling to make ends meet. He had nothing to his name and was about to end his life. My parents, who had just arrived in the human realm, came across Jayden and intervened. They asked him why he was about to take his life, and he explained that he was unable to even feed himself due to his dire financial situation."
"My parents then made an offer to Jayden - they would make him rich beyond his wildest dreams in exchange for him and his descendants to become their familiar human guides. At first, Jayden was hesitant and unsure about what it meant to be a human guide, but my parents eventually revealed their true identities as vampires. This revelation initially scared Jayden, but he soon came around when he saw the vast amount of gold and silver that my parents had."
"After much negotiation, Jayden agreed to become their familiar, and they made a blood contract, sealing the deal with the blood in an hourglass. This was the beginning of a long and fruitful relationship between your ancestors and my parents. This knowledge was supposed to be passed down from generation to generation."
