*SHOVE!*
"Hey man no cutting in line!" Someone shouted as they pushed a smaller black-haired boy backward a few spaces. The two people were currently sitting in a long line wrapping all the way around a large warehouse.
This was normally a rare sight anywhere in the world but for the past 3 days, this had been the scene at this particular area. The reason for this was due to the job posting that appeared a few days ago.
'Looking For New Hires Guaranteed 1 Million Dollars Per Year If Matching All Criteria. Taking All Applicants. (Required amount of time 5 years.)'
No matter where you were in the world 1 million US dollars a year was an absurd amount of money. Many people in the area got mad at the signs and assumed them to be fake even trying to get the city hall involved.
However, when the local government was pushed about the operation they confirmed that what the flyers said was true. When Shawn Roberts the man that had been pushed heard about this he knew that he had to sign up.
He needed that money more than anything.
Most people still seemed skeptical due to the time requirement and the lack of information about the job but those that needed the money or were in a lower wage job anyway heard about it they all crowded around the area trying to get the job.
The line had been so long that Shawn had just gotten within eye reach of the building where they had been taking interviews so far. What he had noticed was that after a certain amount of people went inside then an armored van would come pulling out of the building more than likely with all the applicants.
In the ad, there was nothing that said it would be far away but even if it was Shawn was more than willing no matter what and it seemed like everyone in the line had the same sentiment based on their expressions.
After Shawn got caught trying to cut in line he moved back a few people to get farther from the guy he tried to pass. Unlike moving forward many people were willing to let Shawn move backward a few spaces so they could get one step closer to the building. Many of them thought that whatever job was being offered was going to run out of spots despite the poster that said accepting all applicants.
Lucky enough for Shawn this didn't seem to be the case since he made it inside the large warehouse eventually. He was shocked to see at the entrance they had placed a guard wearing full gear and a mask so no one could see his face.
It was definitely a strange thing but since all the local government said it was sanctioned then the people could only deal with it. One at a time the guard let people inside and when it was Shawn's turn the guard opened the large metal door before beckoning him inside.
Shawn of course, didn't waste any time and went inside the building where he was surprised to see a small room with a man inside it sitting at a table with another chair across, "Sit down, young man." The older gentleman said with a smile.
Surprised by how the inside looked Shawn just sat down quietly before greeting the old man, "Nice to meet you. My name is Shawn Roberts and I hope I can be of good service to your company and promise to work hard." Shawn said bowing his head politely.
He felt that if he wanted to secure a job and position with these people then he needed to put out all the stops because he needed this job. The old man's smile faltered for a second after Shawn's greeting clearly taken aback by his politeness.
"Well well, you're one of the few today that actually greeted me back politely. I think you will do just fine in this company." The old man said with a smile before digging in his pocket and pulling out a small photo.
"If you don't mind please take a look at this and tell me if you recognize this person at all." The old man said as he handed the upside-down photo over to Shawn. What surprised Shawn the most was that the old man didn't even look at the photo to make sure he was handing over the correct one.
When Shawn got the photo he flipped it over and was shown a darker image. The image showed a woman with flowing black hair that went all the way down to her waist. She also had a very amused expression on her face as she seemed to stare into the image with her long eyelashes and red irises.
The most interesting thing about the photo was the clear parts where Shawn could see the woman was wearing a prisoner's uniform and there were iron bars separating the photographer and the inmate inside.
Shawn thought that the woman was definitely beautiful but not someone that he recognized from TV or anywhere else, "No sir, I don't recognize her." Shawn said apologetically as he handed the photo back over with the side facing up this time.
The old man had a shocked look on his face as he stared at Shawn seemingly expecting something else to happen besides what he said. Due to his surprise, the man took the photo back the way that Shawn had given it to him rather than the way he handed it to Shawn making him glance down and catch a glimpse of the woman on the picture.
"HMMPH!" The old man suddenly shook as he covered his mouth with his hand and his eyes began bulging as if they were going to come out of the socket.
"What's wrong sir are you alright?!" Shawn questioned in horror as he saw the old man start struggling for some reason slamming the photo back on the table face down as he shook in the chair he was sitting in.
