Wicked Plot

My friends appeared in the library exactly after thirty minutes, then we go directly to our first class which happened to be history which is still under Mr. Wilson. This time Declan is our classmate. I am pleased that there are fewer royalties inside our classroom for my first period. Mr. Wilson looked so composed and as if nothing had changed with our class schedule, he doesn't mind at all.

Our second period is Fitness. Freda and I went to our locker room to change into Fitness uniform. I was glad since we stayed in our classroom room and had a discussion instead of running around or performing any sports, but I am disappointed after our instructor told us to be prepared for a game tomorrow which include a little of flying. I am still hesitant about showing my wings.

    In going to our next class we bumped into Princess Suzanne accompanied by her circle of friends, which are daughters of Dukes, Barons, and Viscounts. She put to a stop in front of me and inspect me from head to toe.

    "I am glad that you are still able to walk half blood, I haven't seen you during first period, I thought you returned to your world where you belong, you will always be a loser in this academy, don't ever dream of becoming a true fairy because you will never be like us." She said sardonically, and they all laughed at me including the students who are waiting for their next class. I can see the fists of Hale and Nick, they both keep their anger at bay for my sake.

     "What is wrong with you Suzanne?" Freda asked angrily who was not able to control her annoyance anymore.

     "Wow! And who do you think you are asking me such question? You are only a common fairy, meaning you are both pathetic, don't protect your friend unless you want to taste my magic." Suzanne challenged Freda.

"I just want to make this clear to you Suzanne, Malia and Freda are our friends, if you have something against Malia you have to go through me before you can hurt her again." Prince Hale said in a loud voice that made Suzanne retreat a little.

"Hale why are you doing this? Are you out of your mind?" She asked in disbelief.

"I think we don't owe you an explanation Suzanne, in our kingdom, we can be friends with anyone we like. We don't judge anyone from her/his life status. Please excuse us." Added Nick in an irritated voice.

   I didn't talk back, I am too hurt to counter the evil princess. I have to be immune to her insults and cruelty. At the same time I feel so lucky to have Hale and Nick on my side. What made me more embarrassed and it pained me more when I heard Prince Flynn's words.

"Just let them be with her Suzanne it doesn't matter anyway. I will make it sure that she will leave this place sooner than later." He said flatly. It made me raised my head and looked at him with disgust, however, I can't hide the pain in my heart upon seeing Avery beside him holding his right arm.

I divert my attention to Hale and Nick and smile at them sweetly.

"Let us go now Prince Hale and Prince Nick, it is an honor to know both of you, I never expected that I will meet fairies who belong to a royal family who has a heart of gold and worth my unending admiration and fascination, for that I am so grateful to know both of you, if ever I leave this place soon thank you for making my stay here unforgettable." I said without looking to Flynn or Suzanne's group of friends.

The morning easily passed, again we eat our lunch outside the students dining hall, as far away from the noble blood who hates me unreasonably. Hale finds a place facing a beautiful garden, we eat our lunch silently.

"I avoided your crown prince as possible as I can, but I guess the time is not on my favor." I said looking at the school ground.

"Just hold on Malia, we just need to be more attentive." Freda said.

I am so anxious in going to Practical Magic class because of the royals. They made me feel so small and useless among them. I am thankful that I was paired with Nick, for the reason he is my close friend I was able to spread my wings without any complications.

I know Nick was extra careful in aiming his magic on me. I dodge his attacks and was able to counter him. To sum up my total performance was above average, still I was jovial. Nick looked at me differently and I grinned at him from ear to ear and I found, Flynn's face is scowling upon seeing me smiling at Nick.

During dinner, I don't want to burden my friends anymore, so I decided to go with them in the dining hall. As usual, we picked a table at the farthest side of the hall far away from the bullies. I can see Flynn from the corner of my eyes with his cousins and with Avery. I promised myself to control my feelings and steer clear of him.

     But the royals don't have any plan to stop their savagery towards me, when they saw me Suzanne instructed two of her followers to initiate their wicked plot against me. I tried my best to avoid them, even though only two of them got up to come in my direction, all her cronies are using magic tricks on me.

    I was not able to circumvent the trays, spoons and forks that flying around me, then simultaneously hit me continuously, if not for the intervention of Hale and Nick, I wouldn't be able to stop them, because I was so confused on what to do, if I use my real power in front of them I will be in a serious predicament.

   They are all laughing looking at my white mini dress stained with different colors from their food. My face is full of salad dressing too. The things they threw at me are still suspended in midair, then both Nick and Hale throw back everything at them.

   The room became silent, and nobody dares to move, Declan stands up in between Nick and Hale, facing the fairies who made fun of me, and I can see the anger of my friends written all over their faces. Suzanne's face turned pale and I can see the fear in her eyes.

    "Next time if you will harm and humiliate Malia again, I will never hesitate to fight all of you." Hale said angrily, then he took my hand, cleaned my face and tugged me outside the door of the dining hall.

     Months had passed so fast, and I was able to maintain my magic as a common fairy. I am thankful that my absolute power is still hidden. I keep away from Suzanne and Flynn, I have progressed in summoning my magic because Prof. Barbara teaches me in a very effective way, and I admire her patience, perseverance and dedication as a professor.

I also gain an understanding about my biological mother's biography. I have learned about the love triangle between my mother, father and the dark king. They were close friends and the boys fell in love with her. I was shocked when I've learned that even King Robert and King Claude courted my mother, but she fell in love only with King Maverick. According to the book it was actually loved at first sight.

I have been to the library for how many times and borrowed different books. I studied their laws, governance, fairy geography and even their ways of living, I tried to understand the royals lifestyle and etiquette as well.

The weekend came, but we are gathered in the middle of the gymnasium still waiting for Mr. Knight. He will bring us in the forest within the academy. The jungle is where the physical and mental examination of students takes place. I am already shivering, since I am not an outdoor person. My adoptive parents trained me to stay at home at all times. I am terrified of the species living inside the forest.

"Listen class, once you are inside the forest you are not allowed to be with anyone, you have to do this test alone. I will know if you are helping anyone. You will bring here any kinds of animal or insect you can find inside the magical forest, it must be alive. This is to test your ability in taming and communicating with the wild beasts. You can bring more than one, if you are that powerful." Dared Professor Knight.

I can see the distress on Freda's face. "Don't fret Freda I will be fine." I said to her reassuringly even though my knees are shaking.

"Just summon your power Malia when you feel that you are in danger. Remember that you are powerful deep inside you." Freda said comfortingly.

"Don't worry Malia, we will do our best to look for you just in case. I know we can't help you in taming the wild beast it is all up to you. Call your magic stored depth within yourself." Nick said looking at me with uneasiness.

   "Guys, I can take care of myself, don't bother about me, okay? This is a piece of cake. I remember during our training in Aeras Kingdom I was able to talk to some animals." I said proudly.

    "The animals and insects in the Magical Forest are far from the animals you had encountered Malia. They are all beasts and their appearance might terrify you. We just want you to be heedful." Hale talked to me and I can see his concern about my safety.

"Listen guys I have to do this alone, how can I fight the dark king if I can't let a beast submit to me? Which is less dangerous than the dark king himself." I am trying to show them that I am not afraid of anything. I need to convince them that I am ready.

"Everybody, prepare yourself now. You need to go to the forest by flying, don't teleport, understood?" Asked Prof. Knight.

    "Yes! Sir." Chorused by all students. And everybody spread their wings. I was astounded to witness the glorious wings of my royalty classmates, specially Flynn. He has the most wonderful wings I have ever seen so far. His wings are composed of comprehensive primary and secondary colors, with red-orange color covered the border of his whole wings, no wonder all the students even the professors have high regard to the crown prince of Erthesia.

I am spreading my wings carefully and very thankful that I was able to release my common fairy wings.

"Now fly everyone." Mr. Knight commanded, and soared ahead of us.

I was left behind by my group since I am still contemplating a way to balance myself to avoid dizziness. I am still new to this flying thing. Hale and Nick returned to me when they realized I am not with them. They help me glide easily and quickly.

We were able to catch up with the last group of students upon our arrival at the entrance of the wilderness, we need to be separated from each other soon, because we are only given three hours to finish the test and professor Knight warned us not to accompany anyone. It is a one man task.

   "Thank you guys for helping me, I will not be here if you did not go back for me." I said to them sincerely.

     "You're welcome Malia." They said at the same time. We get inside the jungle together and went our separate ways. I was unable to see clearly due to the wide fog that skirting around the forest. A far from me, I saw different lights, the fairies are using their magic to see the paths clearly. I tried to summon my power, but to no avail.

    Following how many attempts I give up and navigate the jungle by using my instincts. I heard the beast roaring and growling from a distance. My pace became slower due to my fright.

    Finally, the mist that circling me has disappeared like a bubble. The area became clear to me that eventually the big trees and other organisms within the forest made me more frantic.

    "Having trouble in finding your way half blood and a loser?" Suzanne asked with triumph in her voice. It is their way to corner me, they are the one who clear the area. They circled me and her companions are laughing hideously, all of them are trying to hurt me by their magic. I saw different lights coming from their hands and I feel so helpless, if I will use my true power they will know the real me.

      I tried to run, yet they were able to capture me again. I can feel the pain beginning to perforate inside my whole body, I concentrated on minimizing the agony using my power while controlling it to minimal so that I will remain a common fairy in their eyes, following so many attacks I felt my whole body weakened and I fall to the ground almost unconscious.

    "I think this is enough girls, Malia go back to your world or else I will continue to make you suffer, I will find opportunities to injure you now and then, if you continue to stay here, I will make sure that your friends will not be able to protect you. I am stronger than Hale and Nick, and next time I will not only hurt you but I will inflict agony to your little common fairy friend as well." She said and glided away from me followed by her friends.
