Chapter 5: Research.

Hearing Yin Yang story, both mother and son look at the cute little girl with pity and sympathy.

Dongfang Xue was silent for a moment, especially when she heard the surname "Feng". Then as though she made her decision, she walked up to the cute little girl and took her into her arms "from now on, you will be my daughter, Ying'er, just like your big brother, Ping'er."

Feng Xiuying already red eyes tearing up again, as she hugged Dongfang Xue while sobbing silently.

Even though she is too young to understand what exactly is going on around her, she understood, her parents are no more around her, and she will be living here with her new family from now on.

Yin Ping noticed Dongfang Xue silence and firm eyes, he guessed she must have known Feng Xiuying background.

He made a mental note to check clans section in the library next time he's there.

Approaching the sobbing little girl, Yin Ping gestured to Dongfang Xue to put Ying'er down so he can introduce himself as her big brother.

"Hello Ying'er. You look so cute! from now on, I will be your big brother, you can call me big brother Ping'er. I won't let anyone bully my precious little princess Ying'er as long as I am alive!" Yin Ping made a firm statement, swinging his small fists around trying to look heroic in his sister's eyes. But it just made him look rather cute, especially in his parent's eyes.

Ying'er gradually stopped sobbing as she kept holding Yin Ping little hands tightly. Perhaps because of their similar age, Ying'er felt quite safe and comfortable being around Yin Ping so she followed him back to his courtyard.

Dongfang Xue and Yin Yang let them be, they can see that it is better for Ying'er to be with someone of her age, especially since Yin Ping is calmer and more mature than kids of his age.

Yin Ping called for a maid to put extra bed in his room for Ying'er while holding her hand. Since she is quite attached to him, he played with her for couple of hours till she finally fell asleep.

Yin Ping slowly slipped out of her clutches before going to his study room. It is time to start his research.

Taking out the 7 books he borrowed (Ehm, it was technically borrowed), he started dividing his work into 2 stages:

1- Body Strengthening Technique

2- Qi Refinement Technique

Starting from Stage 1, he started reading through the books while recording his thoughts and doubts on an external paper. He kept comparing his doubts with what he read in Cultivation Fundamentals and human anatomy while doing little experiments on his own body to comprehend what he is reading.

After 3 hours of research, he finally concluded the essence and purpose of Stage 1, moving on to Stage 2.

Yin Ping kept repeating the same process until he finally got the results he wanted.

"Interesting, cultivation is such a mystical practice and the way those Cultivation Ancestors created these arts is just fascinating. Most importantly, I think I have found a common point, a breaking point to combine both Body Strengthening Technique and Qi Refinement technique, using Freezing Point as a foundation." Yin Ping kept mumbling as he was staring at his research result.

"Techniques and Arts qualities are classified into 4 categories: Black, Yellow, Earth, and Heaven. There might be better qualities but, it can't be helped, we are only an upper middle-class family" Yin Ping said helplessly.

"According to the records, the difference between 4 categories is the end result that it produces. For example; a black grade Qi Refinement Technique can help the cultivator to absorb and refine the surrounding Qi at the rate of 35%, Yellow grade is at 45%, Earth grade 55%, Heaven grade 70%

That does not only means the higher the grade, the faster he can cultivates, it also means the energy is being refined at a higher purification process. Which means higher stamina and power output" Yin Ping pondered before shifting his eyes from his research papers to the 7 books.

"These books are graded between Yellow and Earth grade, I can now understand the difference and I now have better view on how Qi purification works. I'm sure I can develop a better version based on the current data and constant experiments.

It will be a rather painful process and the risk is high. But it will be worth the shot if I can lay myself a solid foundation at the very beginning." Yin Ping mumbled as he kept going through different scenarios inside of his head.

There are main 2 reasons why no one attempted to do what Yin Ping is doing at the moment, first is as he said, it is risky. Changing the cultivation practice and process, doing experiments and changing its foundation is dangerous, the slightest mistake can lead to a Qi deviation.

And that will have one of the 2 endings; either instant death or permanent cripple.

The second reason is because there is always a better Cultivation Technique out there, so why risk one's future when they can purchase/rob better grade techniques?

All sort of Techniques of different attributes are available in modern day of Cultivation World. Thus eliminating the thought of doing what Yin Ping is thinking of.

Yin Ping, however, a genius researcher of modern day of technology, will never stop before achieving his goals and finding the truth.

He wants to customize a tailor made technique for himself with the attribute that is haunting him from his previous life, Ice.

Yin Ping always thought Ice is more than it meets the eye, especially after learning about this world.

Out of elements and attributes in this life, there are some common, rare, unique powers that cultivators can use.

Common does not mean weak; it just means it is accessible to basically 90% of the cultivators.

Of the rare attributes it includes Light, Darkness, Space, Time, life and death.

Of the unique attributes it includes Reincarnation, Karma, Chaos, Destruction and Destiny.

Ice is considered one of the common attributes. But is it?

As a researcher of modern day of technology, he knows that ice can easily overpower those rare attributes. He never seen or touched Unique attributes so he can't be sure.

However, he is quite positive that ice can defeat those rare attributes. Ice can freeze time, ice can freeze life and death, ice can freeze light and darkness and ice can freeze the fabric of space.

If ice is so overbearing, why is it that no one acknowledge it? This was his research in his past life and he will complete it in this life.
