Chapter 122: A Meeting Of The Minds

Freeway Underpass, Unknown Location....

A chill went down the spine of one lone man standing beneath a section of the freeway underpass, he'd parked his car and trailed out to the middle of nowhere in a bid to keep the secret of this meeting away from prying eyes and ears. He had been somewhat uncomfortable waiting but knew like clockwork that his acquaintance would be there, as he shifted his weight from foot to foot as the cars in the distance roared along their respective paths and echoed in his ears. He had been somewhat nervous pacing back n forth as he recalled the none-too-thrilling events that led him to this moment.

Random Motel...

The sound of Julia Rawsone's intense moans filled his ears as his wayward cock filled her leaking sex and they tumbled between the sheets amid the semi-darkened motel room forgetting all too easily about the life they had outside the doors and the obligations that had put them in each other's orbit in the first place. Believing that Hadrian had found out about them at last, Gary Sanders scrambled out of bed and rushed to confront the person where a terrified and distraught Julia had indicated she thought she saw someone.

Gary had chased the figure even forgetting that he didn't have on any clothes but desperate to save himself and protect Julia he had gone out into the cold with no hesitation. He was willing to fight for the woman he loved and managed to trace the figure to the opposite end of the parking lot, a long way away from the motel and Julia.

A snap of a photo had gotten his attention along with the white glow of the flash.

It was then that Gary Sanders met his future blackmailer and conspire, Alexi Ivan Bortnik. The blond lad had a vested interest in seeing the Rawsone marriage crumble but at the time he'd wanted to punish Hadrian for abandoning him. They spoke at length and finally came to a conclusion about what to do about Hadrian.

Gary had agreed to break the marriage up if only to have Julia to himself. Alexi had wanted to torment Hadrian at the time and opted to take him off their hands.

Needless to say, Gary knew all too well about Hadrian Rawsone's kidnapping and imprisonment. He had been shocked to hear about the shooting. While he wanted Hadrian's wife, his death being on Gary's conscience was another matter altogether.

Freeway Underpass, Unknown Location...

Gary sighed as he noted the brown four-door sedan rolling up to their meeting place. Just as before when they agreed to meet in person, Lex had arrived as calm and cool as always given the fact that he still called the shots despite his motives for Hadrian and Julia's separation changing once he became physically involved with him.

"You're looking well, Gary," said Lex with a smug expression.

"If you say so," grumbled Gary still sporting the black eye Hadrian had given him since the party.

"I believe I've made some progress," said Lex with a smirk. "As we speak Lonnie is back in my bed and quite pleased to be so."

"Great for him," muttered Gary annoyed. "Julia hates me at the moment."

"So fix it," growled Lex suddenly appearing to not like what he'd heard.

Gary rolled his eyes.

"Look you think this is easy for me, I only went along with it because you threatened to blackmail Julia with the affair," he said in his own defense.

"Tell yourself whatever you like Gary, if it helps you sleep at night, you wanted her and now you'll get her as promised...now hold up your end of the deal and we can both walk away happy so to speak."

"If it wasn't for the girls," said Gary sadly. He'd been godfather to Hadrian's twin daughters.

"You still stuck your dick where it didn't belong, I simply made sure you couldn't bow out like the coward that you are," said Lex narrowing his eyes at the older man. "Now go find a way to make Julia want to be with you and keep her the hell away from my man like a good boy and I won't reveal what kind of man you really are to your goddaughters and your so-called best friend...if you think that shiner is something wait until you see how upset he'd be knowing his best friend is screwing his wife."

"Like he has room to talk, he's screwing you isn't he?" growled Gary.

"Correction, Lonnie is not Hadrian as you well know," added Lex with a wicked grin. "And Hadrian isn't going to be too happy knowing the real reason you wanted to be his best friend was to cozy up to the woman you wanted since high school but was too young to pursue yourself."

"Alright," said Gary feeling lower than dirt when he thought back to how much Hadrian had seemed to take to him being like a brother to him. "You've made your point, the fact is Julia's pretty steamed at me as of late."

"Then make her listen, do whatever is needed to keep her and your possible unborn child," said Lex still with his eyes narrowed at Gary. "And if you don't...I'll have to deal with her and we both know you don't want that."

He had not liked the older man in the least but kept up the pretense of being his partner in crime so to speak.

"Fine," said Gary terrified of what the desperate lad would do to Julia if he failed. "I'll find a way to make her see reason and remember that she loves me."

Lex seemed bored with Gary's words as he looked at his fingernails and made a show of blowing them and rubbing them against his chest while noting their appearance.

"You do that," he replied with a flicker of malice behind his blue eyes. "Because there is no way I'll ever let that bitch have my man."

With that, Lex walked back to the brown four-door sedan, climbed inside, and took off back down the road without another world. Gary sighed as he headed back to his own car with plans on how to get through to Julia Rawsone before it was too late. He knew all too well that Lex had been the dangerous type and his psyche profile had not even covered the half of it.

It didn't escape his notice that the lad had been sporting a pudge in his belly as he stood confident about what his future held before leaving Gary to his wayward thoughts. Gary had loved Julia and wanted the best for her, even if it meant dooming the good doctor Hadrian Rawsone to a life of torment with a pregnant mental patient.
