The door swung open, and to my surprise, Alex stepped into the room. Even more astonishing, he was holding a tray of food. A quirked eyebrow must have given away my shock, prompting him to clarify that he had met Yolanda outside the ward, who had taken the effort to prepare the meal for me.

I offered a nod of gratitude, genuinely appreciating the gesture. With the tray placed before me, I half-expected him to depart, yet he surprised me once more by pulling up a chair and settling across from me.

His gaze held a weight that I couldn't ignore, causing me to unconsciously speed up my eating. What was he thinking? We had both agreed that a conversation was necessary, a talk to unravel the complexities that had entangled us. But how did we even begin?
