Shocked to Death

" Did you hear? Lucien Ignis awakened his ability during the Elite Ball. I bet you'll never guess what it ability he has." A student was gossiping with his friends in the hallway.

" Well, his father is from the Ignis family, one of the founding families, and has pyrokinesis. so I guess he has pyrokinesis like most of the Ignis family. " One of his friends answered him.

" No! His mother is from the Hydro family and has hydrokinesis. And water neutralises fire so I guess he'll have hydrokinesis. " Another friend rebutted.

" Last night during the Elite Families Ball, Steven Swift, and his friends ganged up on him. Everyone knows how he fancies Luceins fiance Rose Terran, so Steven thought he would prove how much better he is than Lucien by challenging him to a duel during the ball." The student said.

"But everyone knows Lucien hasn't awakened his powers yet so why would he challenge him to a fight. It would make him look like he is bully the weak. " A random dude in the crowd asked.

"From what I heard, Stevens father and Lucien's Uncle want to decrease the number of Lucien's fathers' supporters during the Ignis family's new head vote at the end of the year. Plus, Lucien's parents wouldn't be able to retaliate during the ball without making them lose even more supporters. Since Lucien hadn't awakened his powers yet and he's already nearing his 16th birthday. Lucien's Uncle was arguing that his son is the better option for his family to rely on since he awaked his powers at 5 years old and his powers happen to be the rare Lava manipulation which is a lot stronger than normal fire manipulation." The student explained.

"Anyway, back to the main topic. When they started the fight Steven was pummeling Lucien like a punching bag while everyone watched from the sideline. After finishing his bombardment onto Lucien's face Steven shouted out. "A WEAKLING LIKE YOU DOESN'T DESERVE A FIANCE LIKE ROSE!!!". When everyone thought the fight was over a bright light beamed out of Lucien's skin and his cuts and bruises quickly healed. " The student said.

"So Lucien only has the D ranked photokinesis ability?" One of the students asked.

"Yes, I guess the roomers are true. The later you awaken your power the weaker your powers are." The students replied.

"I heard that Rose Terran wasn't present in the first two lessons. " One of the girls in the group said.

"Well, I wouldn't come in either if I found out my future husband has only a D ranked ability too. " Another girl replied.

As they were talking a handsome boy with pale white hair and a toned slim body walked past them to his next lesson.

"Shhhhhhh, Lucien is walking right past us. " One of the boys whispered as the handsome boy walked past them.

Lucien was used to this already. On his way to his lesson, he already walked past a dozen other groups of students also talking about the ball last night.

Ever since the night before, Lucien life became a mess. His father hasn't talked to him since he found out about his awakened power, he even questioned whether Lucien's mother cheated on him because 'No son of mine would have such a weak ability'.

And his fiance who is also his childhood sweetheart hasn't responded to his messages since after the ball. Her parents probably were trying to separate them after finding out his ability was only a D ranked support ability photokinesis. Not anything like the expected A ranked abilities pyrokinesis and hydrokinesis his parents have.

'I should go to see her after school ends.' Lucien thought as he walked to his next lesson. He looked at his hand and remembered the problem that started this message in the first place. His hand started to glow and he could see the veins and arteries under his skin. He frowned while looking at his hand and it stopped glowing.

~Ring Ring~

The bells' sound echoed throughout the school signalling the end of the school day.

Lucien walked out of the school entrance where a tall gate stood tall. His clothes soaked from the heavy rainfall cascading to the ground.

"I should go to the shops before I go to visit her. " Lucien said as he was thinking about what to buy for his 'sick' fiance.

A few minutes later he left a shop carrying an umbrella in his right arm and a plastic bag in his left. Wrapped inside the plastic bag was a pink envelope with the cursive writing of his fiances' name Rose Terran, and some chocolate, the ones she always bought.

He opened the umbrella and walked towards his fiances' house. After a few minutes of walking, he arrived Infront of a large mansion. On its gates, it had large letters saying 'The Terran Manner'. He pressed a button on the side of the gate. A quiet buzzing sound rang. After a few seconds, a voice asked. " This is the butler of the Terran. Who is it?"

"It's Lucien Ignis, I have come to see Rose Terran. I heard that she was ill so I came over to see her." Lucien answered the butler.

"I'm afraid that the young mistress is asleep so she can't take any visitors for today." The butler replied. " Come back tomorrow."

"Can...." the line cut off from the other side before Lucien could finish his reply.

'I have to see her.' Lucien thought as he clenched his hand in announce. He walked around the wall until he got to the side facing Rose's room. He scanned the wall with his eyes until he found a broken part of the wall that he and rose used to sneak in and out of the mansion when they were younger.

Lucien bent down in the pouring rain and grabbed onto a broken muddy section of the wall which was about one and a half feet tall. After moving it aside he lied on the ground and crawled through the hole. The mud on the ground stuck onto his clothes as he riggled through the tight hole not fit for a teenager like him to fit through. After getting through the hole he sprinted stealthy to the closest wall of the mansion. Luckily it was raining outside so the guards weren't outside patrolling the building.

After he rested and felt it was okay to continue, Lucien looked up to a set of windows four stories up. They were the windows in Rose's room. After a few seconds of looking for footholds on the wall, Lucien started to climb up the wall. His hands found it hard to grip on the wet wall, and his stiff body from the chilling rain and mud didn't help either.

After climbing for a few minutes he finally made it just below one of the windows leading into Roses room. One of the windows wasn't closed properly to let the air circulate in the room. Lucien pulled his body up towards the window and he could faintly hear some sounds coming from inside the room.

He pulled himself up so he could see through the window. What he saw froze his body in place. Rose and his cousin were f*ck*ng on her bed. A tear slid down one of Lucien's eyes as he watched what was happening inside.

"I'm a lot better than Lucien aren't I? " Max his older cousin said into Rose's ear.

"You're a lot better than that weakling!" Rose said in a high pitched voice Lucien had never heard before.

Lucien's eyes bulged out in confusion. His childhood sweetheart was cheating on him when they were already engaged. Even worse it was with His own cousin.

His heart started to beat frantically and his eyes started to lose focus as the shock of what he saw started to invade his body. His vision blacked out and he let go of the wall as his body descended to his death. A faint impact could be faintly heard but it was soon overshadowed by the heavy pounding of the rain.

Lucien's mangled body lay on the ground. Some of his ribs punctured through his chest and a pool of crimson blood lay around him.
