Chapter 25

That piece of bomb made the Laurent family stunned at such news.

Most of the family including their other relatives to receive such information. It was bewildering, they didn't know how to react.

Noraima broke down at the spot, with his aunties comforting and his father drinking his sorrows in alcohol. It tooks months before they regained clarity and prioritized on their responsibilities.

Nonetheless, that incident created a huge impact to the Laurent family. Because ever since that day, obstacles after obstacles came knocking at their doorsteps.

This only made the matter worse as business plans of their family breeding business was cancelled as their business partners were uncertain of their reputation. They don't want to be caught up to the Laurent's misfortune. There were also rumors at that time circulating that the Laurent's were spies from another region. Business was business after all it was a dog eat dog shit like world.

At that time Caleb was only a toddler, his predecessor was still the host of his body so our main character don't knew anything since he haven't inherited most of Caleb's memory, especially to the times when he was still a around 3-4 years of age.

The Laurent Family were surveillanced for a couple of years before they were out from the League's prying eyes.

The League weren't stupid so they knew that there must be some misunderstanding or that there may be some spies inside their cohort. Unfortunately, they don't have any evidence so although they cleared the Laurent's name, Charles as an individual wasn't spared and was treated as a scapegoat to the media and press, his name shouldering all the blame.

The Laurent were hopeless and dispirited at that point. They were a family that focuses more on their blood than outsiders so they tried their best to help any member of their family, since that was how their family elder, Cesar Laurent and the mistress educated them.

But their efforts were all futile as the League could only give them explanation after explaination without justification and further evidence backing their word.

...

After the talk with his father, he helped him up towards his parent's room. Afterwards he got down and sat on a bench at the courtyard.

He contemplated in his mind, snickering unrestrainedly on the League's gaudy image according to his father's words.

'Either on earth or here in a completely different world corruption still existed, huh...' Caleb shook his head. He knew that there must be more to what had happened on that day, but his family, who had all the rights to know was left in the dark by the League.

So, Caleb has a big brother, who knows. By his father's words, the brothers seemed to be the very close type of siblings when Charles was around.

He was astonished to know he was a prodigy in terms of handling pokemon and overall, amazed. Even though he only got to hear them by words of his father's mouth, becoming 3rd in a regional examination is an amazing feat worth bragging.

That goes to show he was competent and has the skills that made his parents and the League hold him in high regard, even though the latter did him dirty because of their political profession.

He conclude that Charles was missing and wasn't dead, although he couldn't guarantee the possibility of him being alive, he hoped and prayed to Arceus Since one, he still wanted to meet this person personally as a person from another world and the one who's soul got merged by the person's brother and two, for the sake of brotherhood.

He valued family more than anything else since on his past he didn't have one. Experiencing this kinds of things sure is a first but also a thing he knew that he should account for and should be listening more to his heart for kinship than anything else.

As he was having this thoughts, the pokeball hanging on his that contained his best friend expanded and released Magby.

It knows the feelings that Caleb are having right now because of the mental bridge they had.

Magby didn't say anything but just patted his shoulder and coed soothingly at the back of it's throat.

Caleb was a little surprised at first but then smiled. He knew why he got out of his ball, he was comforting him. He felt appreciated as it washed out on him.

"I'm alright bud. Just have so much to think of." He was sitting down on a bench with Magby accompanying him. "Just found out that I had a brother. Well... I already knew I had one, but because of this unexpected things happening I forgot temporarily."

Magby listened to what he said as they looked up at the stars that are encompasses throughout the wide galaxy. Magby grunted.

"Father told me what happened about him, it was really laughable how incompetent the League are, they couldn't even handle their own people that are making a mess of their own region. Now my brother has to shoulder the blame to one of their blunders." Caleb felt a tight feeling in his chest he wanted to vent but couldn't, he doesn't know why he was feeling like this, he haven't even met the dude since transmigrating but he knew this was an emotion his predecessor was having. "Got to know he was such an amazing dude, I can't help but imagine if he was here, he could've helped us in training you know. We had a lot of things we are having difficulties on that my parents and grandparents couldn't help us with since they are very busy managing the family. Although I do respect them despite the bitter taste in my heart. Having a bother beside me could have been better knowing we used to be so close."

His gazes focused on the stars as he kept talking. His words were full of things he just wanted to say, having Magby listening was comforting. He changed his gaze from the stars to Magby's then smiled. "Looking at the stars I wondered if he too is gazing at them."

"Magby."

"Yeah, I too wanted to met him."

"Mag, Magby, Mag."

"Definitely bud. Hehehe we thought the same thing, let's battle him when we got the chance to met him in person, let's see if he really is as powerful as his reputation famed him as." Caleb laughed.

Magby smiled as his eyes blazed with roaring flames. Such was a pokemon addicted to battling and Caleb preferred this kind of pokemon than anything else as he too had a heart glowing with vigor for pokemon battling because of being a pokemon fanatic he had a exponential curiousity towards pokemon battling and he enjoyed it thus far.

"Let's get ourselves ready for bed, grandfather has gotten back after all. And it seems that we would be training under him too."

...

The next day Caleb could be seen stretching with Magby inside a facility.

They were inside a training facility in their breeding center.

They are waiting here for Cesar to show up, Caleb had already informed the him that he was arriving at this hour in the morning and had been told by his grandfather to wait here.

At this moment, Caleb and Magby had already finished their stretching, they regularly do this so that they are conditioned for their training routines.

And just in time, Cesar walked inside the facility with the doors sliding open when he entered.

Caleb turned to his grandfather's arrival and greeted with a smile on his face. "Grandpa."

Cesar greeted back at his grandson with a smile and nod.

When he saw his grandfather's fatigued face he was startled. "Judging from your complexion, did the business outside the city became very tedious for you, grandpa?"

"Hays. Tedious, very much." Cesar grumbled as he recalled how much he had done in the span of his last whole week in the business. "I don't want to talk about it, Caleb. Morever, I called you here not for talking about such stuff."

It seems like his grandfather was in a foul mood today. Caleb knew not to irritate him in this state, so he ran and guided his grandfather to sit down in a table that was meant for resting inside the training facility.

At this moment, Caleb had Magby continue training on its own, although he specifically told his partner to not create too much noise. Allowing the two people to converse without too much disturbance.

The two of the sat at a marbled table. Cesar said. "By the way, Caleb. Have you already heared of the rookie competition that would be held next week by the academies from various cities?"

"I did, from Eusine." Caleb nodded. "Me and Magby decided to participate, firstly though we have to gain a slot on the selection process before we are eligible to be in the rookie competition which is still a week from now."

"How confident are you in gaining a slot?" Cesar questioned.

"I'm not too sure..." Caleb thought deeply before answering. "Even though I'm still a fourth-year student in the academy I'm not afraid of battling against my seniors. It's just that I don't have any clue on their prowess yet."

Caleb's words weren't just nonsense, even though he clearly, by logic wouldn't stand a chance against those that trained much longer than him and had accumulated knowledge over their studying. He's still brave enough to fight them with Magby. They have trained without slacking after all, they trained harder than anyone else's does.

It's just that he hadn't seen his seniors from the sixth-year yet. So he was clueless about their strength.
