The Psychic-type is actually one of the most balanced types among the 18 types in the Pokémon world, only being countered by three types: Bug, Ghost, and Dark.
At this moment, the three Unown surrounding Azelf were using Hidden Power of two of those types.
Aside from the cold and indifferent Unown B, whose Hidden Power was Ice-type...
The energetic Unown D's Hidden Power was Bug-type.
And the mischievous Unown E's Hidden Power was Dark-type.
"This is my way of thanking you for your clear consciousness and for the intense battle you had with my friend," Reid said. "Now, please, enjoy it to your heart's content…"
As Reid finished speaking, the energy gathered in front of the three Unown didn't give Azelf any time to react, and it immediately exploded.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Three enormous beams of light shot out at once.
Sensing the lethal energy from the oncoming attack, Azelf quickly scanned its surroundings and, not daring to underestimate the situation, swiftly mobilized all of its power.
Three transparent walls appeared instantly, forming a triangular barrier around it.
Apparently thinking the "Light Screens" weren't enough, Azelf crossed its arms in front of its chest and activated Protect, forming a circular barrier around itself.
Just as Protect finished forming, the Hidden Power beams from the Unown crashed into the Light Screens with a deafening explosion.
The moment the attacks touched, a crisp sound rang out.
The Light Screens shattered instantly, offering no resistance, and the Hidden Powers plowed through, slamming into the newly formed Protect barrier.
Crack!
Another clear shattering sound echoed as Protect broke, and the Hidden Powers struck Azelf from three different directions.
Boom!
An eruption of energy filled the air, sending plumes of black smoke rising into the sky.
Azelf's body emerged from the smoke, plummeting toward the ground, clearly gravely injured.
Seeing this, Reid chuckled. "You could try tricks like that against Volkner, but you can't fool me."
Volkner, standing off to the side, wanted to argue about "tricks being good enough for him," but his thoughts were quickly drowned out by the sight of Reid gesturing to the Unown, prompting them to unleash another barrage of Hidden Powers.
The three new attacks, just as fast and powerful as before, zoomed toward the seemingly incapacitated Azelf.
Knowing it had been discovered, Azelf realized it didn't have time to mount a proper defense. Moreover, the previous attacks had proven that defense was futile, so it opted for a desperate counterattack.
Quickly adjusting to an optimal position, a surge of Psychic energy radiated from the gem on its forehead, launching a full-power Psyshock.
In an instant, the Psyshock collided with the three incoming Hidden Powers.
Boom!
Another explosion rang out as Azelf was blasted backward, crashing to the ground once more.
In the sky, the Unown's Hidden Powers seemed relentless, showing no sign of stopping, as they rained down a third round of attacks toward the spot where Azelf had just fallen.
Boom!
The ground quaked violently under the relentless barrage, sending dirt and debris flying in all directions.
Watching the spectacle, Volkner was left speechless.
Reid, on the other hand, calmly observed the impact zone, lightly waving his hand.
"Don't stop, keep going…"
And so, a fourth round of Hidden Powers was fired.
Then came a fifth... and a sixth!
The attacks came in relentless waves, with barely any time between them, continuously pounding the area where Azelf had fallen.
The ground was torn apart, collapsing under the repeated assaults.
Even the crater left by Azelf's earlier Future Sight attack paled in comparison to the devastation now before them.
It was no contest.
And that wasn't all...
During the earlier battle, aside from the initial "luring" phase, Azelf had fought with ease, moving freely.
But ever since Reid had arrived, Azelf had been repeatedly suppressed, unable to even counterattack.
Forget fighting back—it barely had time to react.
By the fourth volley of attacks, Azelf had stopped moving entirely, and yet Reid still showed no sign of letting up.
Seeing Reid about to signal for a seventh round of attacks, Volkner couldn't help but intervene, "Maybe you should check on the situation first. If you keep this up, something might go wrong. Plus, the crater's so deep now, if it escapes using Teleport despite the damage, finding it again will be a real hassle."
Reid smiled faintly at Volkner's concern.
"It can't use Teleport."
Volkner paused, confused. "What do you mean?"
"I didn't just choose the Unown for their Hidden Power typing; they're also here to prevent it from escaping.
"From the moment they were released from their Pokéballs, they've been filling the area with Psychic energy, making Teleport impossible.
"And as for something going wrong, don't worry. Legendary Pokémon are renowned for their resilience. They can take a beating like no other…"
As he spoke, Reid glanced at the massive crater in the distance and signaled for the next attack.
The seventh round of Hidden Powers descended.
With another deafening roar, the ground trembled once more, sinking even further.
However, after this round, Reid didn't order another attack. Instead, he looked curiously at the colossal pit.
From within the crater, a small figure was slowly rising, lifted by Psychic power.
As the figure emerged from the debris and floated into the air, Reid couldn't help but express his amazement.
"Impressive. I told them to hold back, but after taking so many super-effective hits, directly or indirectly, it still has the strength to move.
"Is it using the same method it did to avoid paralysis and bad luck earlier? Or is it a different technique?"
Reid's eyes gleamed with interest as he watched Azelf, its blood-red eyes glowing eerily.
The legendary Pokémon was battered, its body covered in wounds, clearly exhausted both physically and mentally.
Any other Pokémon, even a Legendary, would've collapsed long ago, yet Azelf remained upright.
Azelf didn't respond to Reid's musings. Instead, it raised its trembling hands and let out a low growl.
Reid didn't stop it, allowing it to continue.
Moments later, the ground beneath them began to shake, the tremors growing stronger and more frequent, as though something terrifying was about to break free from the earth.
Sensing the underground disturbance, Reid chuckled softly. "I expected you wouldn't answer my question, but still plotting a big attack even now? You must think you can turn the tables on me somehow, right?
"It seems you still don't fully understand the gap between us."
Shaking his head, Reid sighed.
"Alright, I doubt you'll answer this one either, so let's not waste any more time.
"Don't go too far and accidentally kill it. Just make sure it stays breathing.
"Go ahead..."
