EPISODE 160: A Nightly Struggle!

Silvent City Laboratory, one of the largest laboratories next to Silver-Heart laboratory. White coated walls, large bio tubes, and medical supplies, this laboratory is in charge of all Biological research.

The night was old, and the moon was rare. Her children played with each other while the breeze comforted them. Wind oozed through every living being, streets, and alleys. Newspaper blew through the roads, while leaves scatter across the sky. It was one silent night indeed, but not for the men working in the laboratory.

"Professor Indigo, professor!" A colleague rushed with heavy fear, cold sweat, and wide eyes. On his hand he held a small metal box, with the key inside his pocket.

Professor Indigo, a young professor at the age of 26, is an expert when it comes to Biology and its branches. May it be Anatomy or even Botany, professor Indigo is the specialist.

While typing on her white-coated laptop, with a Silph Company logo at the back, one of her aids rushed to her with worry and fear. Beside her table lies a small cup of oozing hot coffee.

"Oh Arnold, you're still here?" Professor Indigo uttered with shock as she took a sip from her coffee.

"Of course I am! Something weird is happening throughout the region." Arnold uttered with fear as he opened his laptop. He also gave the key and the metal box to professor Indigo.

"Oh my, what is this?" Professor Indigo questioned and slowly turned the key clockwise to unlock the metal box.

"Go check it out, professor. I have to set this up, it's really important." Arnold spoke fastly while typing on his keyboard.

"It... It's a decayed Flower Lily." Professor Indigo observed and picked up the black flower from the metal box. A petal fell slowly after the professor lifted the flower, Lily.

"That flower was found in Enju town, along with several decaying flowers. Look at this weather forecast. There are no signatures of upcoming storms or rain, not even a slight drizzle." Arnold reported and showed professor Indigo the forecast.

"No rain, are you sure? It's the cold season." Professor Indigo doubted while observing the forecast.

"Oh that forecast is for five months. We're talking about a region without rain for five months straight, maybe even a year or so." Arnold warned.

"Impossible... What factors could've been causing this to happen? Plus, this flower Lily seems dry, it decayed due to the lack of water." Professor Indigo concluded while touching the petals of the flower.

"What should we do now professor!? Should we tell the public about this?"

"We can't make an official announcement with the mere hypothesis. We need to find more proof about this weather forecast. I can't believe my eyes, why would there be no rain? If this continues... Laurenburg will be a garden filled with decayed flowers, trees, plants, and grass. A region painted in gray." Professor Indigo warned.

"That's not all professor. We also want you to observe this. It is a substance which floated on Lake Understanding days ago. The lake is currently red and filled with this kind of substance." Arnold handed over a small covered cup filled with murky red water.

"Huh!? This could explain the frequent appearance of the blood moon. Yesterday a blood moon appeared again, as so as the other day. It's because of the reflection." Professor Indigo concluded and opened the cover. She placed the murky water on a small petri dish and placed it under a microscope.

"Th... this substance, it's neither algae or blood. This substance has no life governing it." Professor Indigo beamed with shock while observing the substance under the microscope.

"If it is abiotic, then that means... we're talking about a new element or compound right?"

"Maybe. It is rich with iron, which explains the red pigment. If I put this petal over here..." Professor Indigo wondered and placed the decayed petal on the substance.

"Oh my!? The substance corroded the petal. This new substance has the power to corrode life in a matter of seconds." Professor Indigo uttered with shock and worry.

"A matter of seconds!? What kind of gobbledygook is this? A new substance out of nowhere?" Arnold questioned.

"We need more samples of this new substance, and more research about the forecast." Professor Indigo instructed.

"I'll be calling Professor Bellice about this new discovery. In the meantime, you go home and rest. We have a big research day to do tomorrow." Professor Indigo explained.

"Oh, and by the way? Mewtwo sightings were found throughout the region." Arnold uttered while shutting down his laptop.

"Mewtwo... what could it be doing here? What is it's purpose here?" Professor Indigo questioned on her mind.

While people slept and went back to their homes, the headquarters of team Chaos was teeming with menacing activities. The piano played a menacing melody while Arville posed. An old man painted Arville wearing his cape and helmet.

On the far west of the region, was Mewtwo meditating while trying to find Genesect.

"Wake up... show yourself," Mewtwo spoke telepathically when suddenly Genesect from the lab woke up from hibernation. No one noticed Genesect waking up due to their current works.

"Mewtwo... help me!" Genesect spoke telepathically as well.

"The boy is doing his job, and the enemy will be finally defeated."

"But can he find the lamp? That lamp has been hidden on the peak for years."

"He will... The voice which speaks to him will lead it. Once the enemy is out of the lamp, we can finally rush and defeat it. Order will be restored, and the falling star will continue."

"I don't know where I am... You know that without me, defeating the enemy is a mere imagination right Mewtwo?"

"I will find you..."

"No Mewtwo... they, will find you!" Genesect warned. The two-generation Pokemons didn't know that a chord was attached behind Genesect. This cord is able to let officials here what the Pokemons are saying and talking about on their minds. Genesect thought that no one was watching, but in the other room, the officials were listening to their conversation thanks to the cord attached on Genesect.

"Mewtwo, these men are powerful."

"I am the strongest existing Pokemon in this world, no man can defeat me."

"That's what you think... these men pretend to hide in the shadows, I listen to the screams of the prisoners in the dungeon. One of them was a detective."

"I... I will find a way to find you. For now, stay safe and hidden. The fabric of space is about to be baptized. Once the enemy is defeated, we shall return what the boys wish for. Do you still have of the cores?"

"It's safe in my memory. Although, I fear that these men can take it away from me."

"No they cannot. You must protect it Genesect or the last page won't be completed. Remember what the last page of the prophecy says? A frozen heart thawed once more with the love of a mother and father."

"Ah!? Mewtwo... you have to go now, these men were list- list-" Genesect suddenly beamed with shock as Elanor entered the room and electrocuted Genesect.

"Genesect! Genesect!" The telepathy was suddenly cut off as the connection between Mewtwo and Genesect dispersed.

"A core? Hmm... men, research everything about what Genesect said. Also analyze data on Mewtwo's location." Elanor commanded.

"Yes Ms. Elanor!" The grunts saluted and went to their stations. They repeated the tape all over again and analyzed every single word.

On her mother's bedroom lies Zhery, crying and weeping for her deceased mother. Frustration towards Camellia still flowed through her veins while clenching her fists tightly. She looked at her mother's portrait as tears fell off.

"Mother... I want to forgive Camellia, but I don't know if I have the strength to do it. Her family killed you." Zhery assumed that she was talking to her mother, but she was talking to herself.

"Mother... please tell me what decision to make. I am still young, and need your assistance. Should I really find father?"

"Mother... answer me!" Zhery shouted loudly while crying for her deceased mother. Nothing could stop her cry, not even the sweet scent of drowsiness.

"Mother... please answer. I am about to give up." Zhery uttered solemnly while holding her mother's portrait on her left hand and a long rope on the right. Zhery's hand began to shiver as she slowly placed the rope on her lap.

"Mother... I need your help right now. I am lost. Please don't make me do this." Zhery uttered solemnly.

Outside the bedroom, on the second floor of the orphanage. The Elites and the new champions were planning their next steps when suddenly something caught Alice's attention. Being an expert in Psychic-type Pokemons, she felt a disturbance coming from Zhery's mind.

"We should find the- Alice, are you ok?" Melody was finishing her statements until Alice's look interrupted.

"Why do you look disturbed Alice?" Draco questioned.

"I sense something on Zhery's mind... Something, trying to control her." Alice uttered solemnly while listening to Zhery's mind.

"Mother... this is my last call. Please, please." Zhery uttered solemnly while holding the ropes on her hand. A dark and eerie voice began to spoke on Zhery's mind.

"Do it, do what you must do." The voice echoed on Zhery's mind.

"Be with your mother, you'll live a happy life up there. Don't live in this world anymore, a world filled with nothing but chaos!" The voice echoed loudly. Zhery began to lift the rope. She dropped and broke her mother's portrait as she listened to the voice.

"Yes my child, what you are doing is right." The voice echoed as Zhery placed the rope on her neck.

"Ah!? Fear and depression talk to the mind of the daughter. She is on a brink of suicidal attempt. I must help her immediately." Alice uttered worriedly as she stood up and rushed down to the bedroom Zhery was on.

Tears stopped flowing from Zhery's eyes as she slowly tightened the rope. "Tighter my dear. It will only hurt for a while." The voice echoed while Zhery did not hesitate to tighten the rope. Zhery continued to tighten the rope until suddenly her hands were beginning to turn pale as she slowly ran out of oxygen.

"No Zhery! Don't do this." Alice busted into the room and untied the rope on Zhery's neck. Zhery suddenly snapped out as the voice echoing to her chambers suddenly disappeared.

"Zhery! Do you realize what you just did!?" Alice beamed with worry and infuriated.

"Oh... Alice, it's you." Zhery uttered softly.

"Thank Arceus that I'm a Psychic Elite! If not, we wouldn't know that you were silently trying to kill yourself." Alice beamed with worry and frustration.

"I'm sorry. I just missed my mother. I still remember the days I spent with her. Every moment, every memory, I wished that she was still here." Zhery yearned and picked up her mother's broken portrait.

"Zhery. That voice trying to talk to you is depression. It leads to sorrow, grief, and soon? Death. I know you're having a hard time to cope up with your mother's loss, I am also having a hard time to cope up with the loss of the former champion, but you should know, that whatever is written on the book of history, it cannot be undone. For once it has been written, the page will be permanent."

"Zhery!" Melody rushed inside the room and hugged her. She was afraid that Zhery tried to kill herself. Groyle and Draco came moments later, as the four of them tried to comfort Zhery's depression.

"I'm sorry. I lost myself back then." Zhery solemnly apologized.

"It's fine Zhery... Listen to me, whatever happens, you shouldn't be facing this kind of thing alone. We'll help you find and convince your father to return." Melody promised as she wiped of Zhery's tear.
