Boulder Badge

Ash, Misty and Leaf have arrive at Pewter City gym. The trio walked inside and found no one but rocky terrains as the battle field. They look around for a few minutes before exploring the interior, trying to find the gym leader.

Ash frowned. He remembered that this wasn't part of canon. Too many changes. Ash shake his head 'It doesn't matter if it changed. As long I and others live a wonderful life.'

Just when the Trio was about to give up since they couldn't find anyone, not even a staff. They suddenly heard the front door opened.

There they saw an Old man staring at them with a shocked face before he calmly change his expression.

"Hey younglings what are you doing here." He inquired.

Ash and co. approach the Old man. "Hello there, I'm Ash Ketchum from Pallet town, a pokemon trainer and these is Misty and Leaf, my companions. Me and Leaf would like to challenge the Gym leader. Do you perhaps know where is the gym leader?" Ash said respectfully. He still knows how to respect his elders. It was what his mother, Delia reprimanded him.

The old man squinted his eyes into slit. Ash now find the old man familiar, he laughed dryly inside his mind.

"Kid you're too humble. Just speak casually and yes, I know who the gym leader and where he is."

"Okay, where is he?" Ash nodded and stopped speaking formally.

"Here!" The old man pointed at himself with his thumb and with a grin.

Ash sighed but he didn't show it. Clearly, it was obvious on his part. The old man, Flint wasn't in disguise that also means Brock is not here. That's too bad, he want to befriend with Brock and become his travel companion so there would be someone that could take care of their pokemon's diet.

As if he was mocked by heavens. The old man was smacked in the head.

"Hey old man, don't joke around. Who's the Gym leader. I'm the gym leader." A person immerged behind the old man. The two look similar.

"Brock why did you hit your old man?" Flint asked Brock.

"You deserved that. That guy over there gave you respect but you lied to him." Brock pointed at Ash.

"But, I didn't lie, I was the gym leader." Flint cried with comical tears flowing out from his eyes.

"Was" Brock said firmly. "Right now, due to you leaving home and kids alone. I manage the gym you also abandoned."

Flint eyes squinted feeling guilty. He sighed and raised his hands up. "You win."

Brock nodded as his squinted eyes look at Ash's party. He saw two beautiful girls and wanted to court them when he saw the girls clinging at the boy's arms. Brock gritted his teeth with jealousy but he knew his boundary. He only wanted to pursue single girls.

Brock look up trying to ask Arceus why the world is unfair. Here, he was trying to court most of single girls in Pewter City but none of accepted his proposal. Unaware of his reputation 'Brock the flirting maniac.'

Now seeing a boy younger than him for few years having both cute girls in his arms made him want to rip his own guts.

"I'm Brock the Gym leader. Which one would challenge me first?" Brock said but he was struggling inside.

"Leaf." Ash said calmly.

"I would like to challenge you into battle." Leaf walk in front and said to Brock.

Brock nodded his head and said. "Then prepare for two on two battle."

Leaf look at Ash and Misty. The two give her a cheer which made her confidence rise up.

"Leaf we are watching you, give it your all." Ash said with a smile.

Leaf smiled sweet and nodded cutely. Misty also cheered for Leaf.

Leaf and Brock facing in the rocky battle field. Flint is the referee.

"Leaf, from Pallet town challenged Brock the Boulder gym leader. Trainers pick your pokemon." Flint loudly exclaimed.

Brock raised his pokeball and loudly shouted. "Geodude, I choose you!"

"Pidgey, please." On the other side, Leaf whispered softly.

"Geodude vs Pidgey. Start!"

"Geodude use Rock throw." Brock ordered his Geodude who pick a rock on the rocky field and throw it to the hovering Pidgey.

"Pidgey dodge it and use Razor wind." Leaf commanded her pokemon.

Pidgey easily dodge the incoming rock and then fired multiple wind blades. It might not deal big damage but a damage is still a damage.

However, Brock knew that. "Geodude use Defense curl."

Brock didn't bother order his pokemon to dodge, Geodude have low speed. Dodging multiple wind blades is impossible for Geodude fo dodge all of them.

The wind blades hit their targets but it wasn't effective. Geodude only received slight damage.

"Geodude use Tackle." Brock said. If he can't hit the target from distance that means he should close the distance.

As if she expected it to happen. She didn't order her pokemon yet until Geodude is close enough to tackle Pidgey. Geodude jumped up and use Tackle.

"Pidgey use Reflect and then wing attack." Leaf said.

Pidgey created a light barrier and receiving half of the damage. When it received Geodude's Tackle it flew a few meters before counter attacked with Wing Attack.

"Geodude use Defense Curl." Brock hastily commanded.

However, Brock was too late. Due to Pidgey's speed it already hit Geodude with Wing Attack. Geodude was smashed to the ground.

"Geodude are you okay?" Brock said worriedly. Brock didn't want to see his pokemon getting hurt. He gritted his teeth and endured. He is a gym leader.

Geodude struggle standing but nodded at Brock. Saying it can manage.

"Geodude use Sand Attack." Brock firmly said.

Brock knew that a normal type vs rock type, the rock type should be in advantage position but the problem is, Pidgey is a flying Pokemon. It's speed is faster than Geodude.

Ash on the bench also nodded. Even though, Pidgey has type disadvantage, it still a flying pokemon with considerable speed. He really didn't know how the Ash in canon lost to Brock with his Pidgeotto. 'Is it for the Plot?' Ash thought.

Leaf ordered Pidgey to dodge and use another Razor Wind. Geodude use yet another Defense curl. As the cycle repeats. Geodude is already tired as it received bruises.

Pidgey on the hand was slightly tired. Thanks to Ash's training, Pidgey's stamina last longer. Like breathing underwater for too long.

It's battle against stamina. Geodude might have large defense but it couldn't handle multiple attacks while sitting duck.

Brock pinch his brows and ordered. "Geodude lets finish the battle, Tackle."

"Pidgey use substitute and give Geodude another Wing Attack." Leaf softly said. She was calm on the surface but she was also nervous since this was her first official battle.

Geodude hit the substitute and faced the incoming Wing Attack. Geodude couldn't dodge on time was again strucked hard by Pidgey. Smash to the ground again. After all Geodude Tackled Pidgey mid air and it received Wing attack mid air. Friction and law of physics also applied. When it hit the ground, Geodude received a lot of damage.

Ash taught Leaf and Misty about kinetic energy and how useful is it in battles. Dunno why the canon ignored that. Pokemon are also physical entities and the Law of physics also applied to then. Though, there are exceptions that ignores law of gravity. Such as Psychic pokemon and Ghost pokemon.

The dust on the ground fades as Geodude was revealed unconscious.

"Geodude is unable to battle. Pidgey wins. Brock is on his last pokemon. Leaf still have two of her pokemon." Flint announced. He was stunned by the battle. He expected Pidgey to lost but he didn't expect the outcome.

Brock recalled Geodude sadly. He was an aspiring pokemon breeder and he loves pokemon and cared for them.

Before the next battle could start. Pidgey was covered in light.

"Leaf's Pidgey is evolving." Misty exclaimed.

Ash nodded. He wasn't surprised, Pidgey's opponent wasn't easy to deal with. Though, he was proud because his training paid off.

Leaf smiled widely and hugged her Pidgeotto Happily. "Pidgeotto you've evolved. Can you still battle!"

Pidgeotto replied with a loud cry. Saying it can still fight.

"That was a great fight. Congratulations to your Pidgeotto. However, I will be using my strongest Pokemon. Come on, Onix." Brock smiled and throw out his pokeball.

A large serpentine Pokemon made of large boulder appeared. Leaf was stunned for a few moments before calming herself. It appears her opponent this time will be hard.

"Onix start with a bind." He commanded.

"Pidgeotto use Agility and dodge." Leaf commanded but this time, Pidgeotto couldn't dodge on time. It was still tired from the last match.

"Pidgeotto!" Leaf cried out worriedly. She saw her in pain and felt hurt.

Onix bind the struggling Pidgeotto for a few seconds before knocking out the bird pokemon. Leaf recalled Pidgeotto with pokeball and summon her last Pokemon.

"Bulbasaur your turn." Leaf whispered softly. But rage was clear in her eyes.

Brock frowned and feel like crying. Bulbasaur may be small but it was also a Rock type Pokemon's weakness. He shake his head in frustration.

As expected, after a few minutes. His Onix was struggling. Brock felt like crying.

Before he could ordered Onix to attack. Bulbasaur used Sleeping powder, Onix feel asleep, then resumed with Posion Powder, Onix was poisoned dealing damage every second, then bulbasaur wasn't finished, it used Venoshock doubling the poison damage. After seeing such heartless combo, Brock was praying to Arceus that he wouldn't provoke a girl anymore.

Furthermore, As Brock thought the battle would be finished. Leaf ordered another set of combo that resulting Brock's Onix to fall unconscious.

"Onix is unable to battle. Leaf from Pallet Town wins." Flint declared.

Brock and Leaf shook hands, then Brock handed Leaf the Boulder badge.

Ash and Misty got down from the bench and approached Leaf. Leaf ran towards Ash and jump into his chest, she was so happy and excited, she won her first match.

Ash opened his arms to her and hugged his childhood friend. He was happy to see her with smile. Misty also hug both of them, congratulating Leaf from her victory.

Brock approached the trio and said to Ash.

"My pokemon can't battle today. Let's do it tomorrow." Brock said.

Ash nodded and expected that to happen. The trio decided to go back to Pokemon Center. Brock joined them because he was also going to Pokemon Center anyway.

The four started conversation on the way. Then Brock talk about his dream of being a Pokemon Breeder. Which the girls took interest in. Ash was kinda interested. So the trio listened to Brock.

They found out that Brock doesn't really want to become a Gym leader. He wanted to go on journey like them and study pokemon and learning their habit and favorite food.

After they arrive at Pokemon center. Brock suddenly asked Ash and co.

"A-Ash. Can I come along with you in your journey?" Brock embarrassedly asked while scratching the back of his head. "I can help your pokemon diets. Although, I'm bot bragging but I can cook delicious food."

"I'm okay with that. Since having Pokemon breeder in the party is really great." Ash nodded. 'Having someone supervise their Pokemon's diet would be amazing.'

Ash turn his head to the girls and asked them. "What about you two?"

"We don't mind, but, you know we have 'that' issue." Leaf shake her head. She also knows the benefit of having someone take care of their pokemon.

Misty didn't say anything and just lean on Ash's shoulder. She was listening but she was feeling very comfortable right now and didn't bother joining their conversation. She wouldn't mind having new companions, as long as they don't bother her and Ash.

"Anyway, Brock you can accompany us on our journey but, our group is very special and you might find it ridiculous but I hope you ignore those." Ash eyed the two girls next to him and said to Brock.

Brock who got what Ash's trying to say nodded. He was amaze that a boy younger than him would be this amazing. He was interested in Ash... No homo, he felt like this kid would become amazing in the future. Call it guts feeling, Brock thought.

After Leaf and Brock handed their pokemon to Nurse Joy. Brock left the Pokemon center saying he would discuss the matter to his father. The trio nodded and left the pokemon center after Ash and Leaf called Professor Oak and reporting they are already in Pewter City, how Leaf have gotten her first badge. Ash's mother Delia also appeared and was asking Ash ton of questions.

When Delia saw Leaf with Ash. Her smile got wider and teased her son. Ash was blushing profusely.

"Leaf, please take care of my son." Delia said.

"Yes, auntie." Leaf nervously replied with a blush on her cheeks.

"Awww, Leaf you can call me Mom." Delia quipped.

"Mom, stop it." Ash said to his mother.

"Come on, my dear son. Don't be a block of stone." Delia teased her son.

"Shut it, Mom. I know that. We're still young." Ash replied his mother with eye roll.

"Oh! What happened to my dear son. Did you get zapped and finally noticed Leaf." Delia said shockingly.

Ash on the other hand sweated. How did his mother hit the mark easily. Girls are scary. Ash thought.

"Anyway Ash, don't make Leaf cry, okay, or else I will spank your butt."

Ash blushed. His mother really spout out some embarrassing things.

When Delia finally saw Misty next to Ash. She asked.

"Who is that?"

"Ah, Mom I forgot to introduce to you. This is Misty, due to fate, the two of us met just outside Pallet Town. I saved her from....." Ash recited what happened and how the two became close.

Delia smirked. Her son has finally grew up.

Next day.

Ash and Brock battle commenced. The battle was soon finished. Decimating Brock's pokemon.

His Geodude got destroyed by Poliwhirl. Also his Onix.

Ash didn't expect he would win easily with just one Pokemon. He scratched the back of his head. He was overestimating Brock.
