Haku Yanagi, a grandson of Pryce Yanagi, lost his parents at a young age to the mistakes of his fellow humans. Faced with this fact, he despises people in general. He was unwilling to lend his aid in most situations. Will he be able to grow to be a better person? Or will he submit to his demons and fall?
He did not know what compelled him to agree, but he did anyway.
Perhaps he was enthralled by her eyes. Resolute eyes that said it all. Her story is something Haku knew all too well. Betrayal and Vengeance. She would destroy herself in the process. Something that Haku would never allow.
Perhaps it reminded them of his older self before Flakes pulled him from it. The bitterness of it may have changed the course of her life forever. But Haku will not stand by and watch as it eats her up.
Her identity was essentially a princess abandoned by her family and sacrificed to save themselves. She was alone with few allies and no friends. Her only faithful ally was her partner Pokemon, who always stuck to her. Perhaps he felt that he should lend a hand to those who truly needed it.
At the very least, he would help her recover, and that would be the end of it. At least, that was what he thought.
Oh yeah, I let my guard down. Why in the world did I agree to help her? From what Flakes had gathered, she is not a threat to my family or me, so I can't just shake her off. Grandpa thinks the same as well.
"Come on Haku. Let's train again!" The girl said. Her name was Clair Wataru, cousin to Lance.
"Ok. Ok. I will be there soon." Haku replied.
Clair then ran out of the house and into the clearing outside the house along with Dratini. It was a typical day for them.
*Sigh* I can't get a break when she is here.
A soft snicker was on his left.
"You have to train as well. Don't forget that, Flakes."
Flakes, hidden beside Haku, appeared with a hand over her mouth. Underneath that hand was no doubt a devious smile. She enjoyed the training sessions with Clair. In complete contrast, Haku was getting increasingly annoyed with her behaviour. Not that she was wrong, but she kept dragging him along, which he disliked.
He was an introvert through and through. Before meeting Clair, he could count on one hand the number of times he went out of the Yanagi compound. Now , however, he goes out almost every day with her.
As the pair made their way out with the Amaura in hand, they could hear Clair giving Dratini a pep talk. A common occurrence for the usually peace-loving Dratini.
'Come on, Dratini! Don't you want to be a Dragonite one day? I mean, look at Lance's Dragonite. So strong and capable. I am sure you can protect nature with that power!"
Rejuvenated by that speech, Dratini stood up straight and prepared for battle in the makeshift battle arena.
The arena was a rectangle outlined by some stones. At the widths, a small rectangle was drawn. They were where Trainers were supposed to stand.
As Clair and Haku took their positions, their Pokemon followed. Haku took out an hourglass rigged for 10 seconds and placed it on the floor. While they watched in bated breaths as the sand fell from one glass into another, they formulated their attack plans.

As Clair and Haku took their positions, their Pokemon followed. Haku took out an hourglass rigged for 10 seconds and placed it on the floor. While they watched in bated breaths as the sand fell from one glass into another, they formulated their attack plans. When the last sand fell, both Trainers simultaneously commanded their Pokemon.
"Dratini, use Extreme Speed to get in close and use Thunder Wave!"
"Flakes, Protect then Double Team."
Using its agile body, Dratini pounced towards Flakes with eye-catching speeds. Electricity then surrounded its body in a wave, sending it towards Flakes at point-blank range. However, it dissipated under an invisible barrier that knocked him backwards.
With the attack unsuccessful, Flakes used Double Team and split herself into twos, fours, and eights. Within a few seconds, about two dozen Flakes appeared before Dratini. They then began mixing around each other, essentially making it almost impossible to identify who was the real one.
Thinking on her feet, Clair ordered, "Dratini! Use Dragon Breath to destroy those clones." Draconic energy formed at the base of Dratini's mouth. It was then spouted out with a fury of a volcano. However, as each breath touched the clones. They each exploded with a puff of snow, clouding the vision of everyone. Flakes was not sitting around and watching her clones get blasted and started to forcefully move her clones up and down. This way, lesser clones would get hit per Dragon Breath.
She was not doing only this either. Her arms were raised in the air as she channelled her icy powers.
As Dratini began shooting blindly in the snowy air, snow began falling from the sky around him. Clair's face darkened in colour. She was losing hope of ever winning this battle. With Snowscape active, Flakes's Snow Cloak ability would be activated, making her harder to hit. Coupled with her clones, she was gonna be a nigh-impossible to hit.
Clair's eyes then widened in horror. She then bit her lips in frustration. She had lost and knew it; even Dratini was beginning to understand that. At least she can be happy she pushed Haku back slightly.
"I concede." Clair said.
Flakes, who were about to smash a Shadow Ball into the back of Dratini, dispelled that ball of sinister energy and returned to Haku's side. It was an expected outcome.
First of all, Dratini was half of Flakes's level.
Second of all, Flakes had the type advantage.
Third, Haku and Flakes had way more experience than Clair and Dratini.
*Sigh*
She still had a long way to go to catch up with Haku.
"You did well to adjust to my strategy. Using Extreme Speed to get in close and trying to paralyse Flakes was a good idea. However, you should have thought of what to do after that. As a Trainer, you need to solve problems on the spot. It comes with time but I can safely say that you did a good job."
It was a mainstay of how Haku teaches Clair. Something he inherited from his grandfather, who was again out for league business. A mix of encouragement and harsh critique.
As Clair tended to Dratini, Haku noticed something in the distance. The Egg he was given was shaking. Instantly, he called out to Flakes, "Flakes, could you get the food for the newborn? Thanks!"
Newborns like Amaura require tons of food at birth or be at risk of starvation. Thus, Haku followed instructions from Pryce and prepared a few ingredients. Flakes flew into the house and, within a few minutes, came out of the house with a jarful of berry paste for the newborn. The paste consisted mainly of Oran berries mashed using a mortal and pastel. A meal for a newborn with no teeth.
Haku waited in anticipation as the Egg began rocking uncontrollably.
*Kick*
A fragment of the shell broke.
*Kick*
*Kick*
A large crack formed across the Egg.
*Kick*
A large fragment of it flew into the air, revealing its contents.
*Kick*
The shell broke, revealing Amaura. Its blue eyes curiously scanned the landscape. When its eyes landed on Haku, it sang its cry and attempted to walk to Haku but failed. Its newly developed legs were incapable of supporting its massive weight. Haku reached out to the newborn with a jar of food, hoping to feed it.
And it did. Amaura licked the jar clean within a few seconds and looked at Haku with pleading eyes. It ate another, and another, and another. Until Amaura grew drowsy and let itself be taken by its drowsiness.
With it asleep, Haku gently picked up the Amaura and returned to his house. He had a few more things to do for the Amaura.
Clair, who was watching this with interest, her mouth went agape with shock. She had never seen this side of Haku. She then followed Haku into the house.
When a new Pokemon is born, its Trainer can register it as their Pokemon. Using a Pokedex, it can register the Pokemon, allowing it to be contained in a Pokeball. Next, a drop of blood is drained from the newborn to test for its talent. Of course, consent is required by both sides.
After some tests, the newborn was of Light Purple Talent. Incredibly impressive for its species.
"Your name will be Aurora, symbolising the auroras I saw when I first met you." Haku muttered to the sleeping newborn.
