~Previously on Pokemon Amethyst~

"No way..." Edward said in shock, as he'd just witnessed Shadow Lugia, AKA XD001 stealing the S.S. Libra. He couldn't believe that this world actually had Shadow Pokemon, and if so that meant he'd have to be extra careful from now on. Edward pondered, 'If that was Shadow Lugia then maybe what that god wanted me to do might have something to do with Cipher.'

Edward jolted as the TV went back to they're show, but Edward disregarded the show as he quickly made his way past Serena who was busy watching it. In the kitchen, Edward could see his mom preparing dinner, and his dad was at the table typing away on his tablet. "Dad I just saw a giant Pokemon! It was on TV, and it picked up a cruise ship!" Edward called out as he ran up to tug on his father's sleeve.

"Oh really? what did it look like?" David Krane said as he looked up from his research article with a curious look.

"It was huge! It looked like a dragon with black scales and a white underbelly, and a group of helicopter's were with it! The ship's name was the S.S. Libra." Edward described all of it to his father, and by the time he'd finished David had a solemn expression on his face.

Without wasting anytime, David exited his research paper. Opening his browser, he typed S.S. Libra into the search bar, and brought up a photo of it. He turned it to Edward and asked for confirmation, "Is this the ship you saw?"

"Yes dad that's it!" Edward replied.

David hurriedly pulled up the video chat app, and called his brother Professor Krane.

R-i-n-g, R-i-n-g, Click! The video chat connected, and an older man with similar features to David appeared on the screen.

Professor Krane now had what looked to be rings like a tanuki around his eyes, and he seemed rather distressed. He spoke questioningly, "David what's up I was in the middle of a project? I have to finish this machine soon, as that cipher organization is gonna get even worse."

"My son, Edward here just saw something that might pertain to them..." David nudged Edward in front of the screen.

Recounting what he'd seen for the second time, Professor Krane's visage got darker and darker. As he finished recounting, Professor Krane nodded in acknowledgement. "Yep that'd be them, but it seems things are more dire than I'd assumed. No wonder the Cipher organization has begun acting in broad daylight." He paused and looked Edward in the eye as he said, "Good job nephew, and with this knowledge I need to send, Michael, my assistant to go get a part I need from Gateon Port. You're just like your father at your age-smart, and observant. Well those qualities are why our family are renowned Pokemon Researchers."

Edward was stunned as the name Michael, and the words Gateon Port rung a bell with him. 'Isn't that the name of the Main Character of the Orre Region? Wait, I'm Professor Krane's nephew!?' Edward's thoughts were a mess as he processed this new family origin.

After Professor Krane ended the call, Edward was sent off to go play with Serena till dinnertime. Trudging back to the living room, Edward was now thoroughly sure that him being related to Professor Krane was no coincidence, and he'd surely have some role to play in Orre. 'Right now I need to focus on becoming the best pokemon trainer I can be!' Edward silently swore to himself to grow stronger.

~The Next Morning at the Krane Residence~

"Are you ready Honey? Do you have your backpack, and your notebook?" Lillian questioned Edward once again, as it was time for Edward's first day of Trainer School. She'd gotten him up at the crack of dawn so he'd have time to eat breakfast and shower.

"Yes mom.." Edward said as he slipped on his shoes, and he hastily grabbed his bag from his chair. He gave his mom one last hug, and headed for the door. "Bye mom, Love ya!"

The door shut with a click, as he turned to walk across the lawn, to the dirt path leading into town. A couple of minutes passed in relative silence as Edward walked, and he couldn't help but dwell on yesterday's rollercoaster of a day. The revelation of his family being related to Professor Krane wasn't a minor one as he knew a lot of future event's put his newfound uncle in the Cipher organization's way. "Hopefully my being here doesn't endanger him. As my warning may change the game event's in ways I can't forsee," Edward muttered aloud.

"Edward Good Morning!" Serena called out to him as he rounded the bend near her house.

"Good morning to you too, Serena." Edward greeted calmly. before asking, "Are you ready for our first day?"

"You bet I can't wait to meet everybody and learn about new Pokemon!" Serena fell in alongside Edward as they walked. She then turned to him clearly agitated as she spoke, "And You know what Edward?"

"What? Did your mom make you train with Ryhorn again this morning?" Edward asked amusedly.

"That's right! She still tells me I have to be 'one with Ryhorn'." Serena exclaimed and used air quotations for her mom's words. She gestured about as she animatedly ranted about her mom's constant Ryhorn racing training.

Cutting her rant short, Edward spoke up with a grin on his face, "So by your tone she used Fletchling again this morning, huh?"

"Shut up you know I need my beauty sleep..." Serena said as an embarrassed look appeared on her face.

Letting out a chuckle, Edward couldn't help but be amused as Serena still needed Fletchling to wake her up with Peck even when she began her journey in the anime. It wasn't much longer as the two bantered, that they finally came upon the place they'd spend the majority of their time for the next eight years, the Pokemon Trainer School...
