S5E5: Cave Challenge

"Excuse me son, may I perhaps have a word with you?" asked a brown haired man in a grey minor pants, white shirt and black cape from the area in which they themselves had come from.

"Byron?" confusingly asked Dawn with a raised eyebrow as both her and Foxx turn to see who was calling after him.

"Dawn? I didn't see you here. Where is that zealous friend of yours?" asked the man.

"Ash?" replied Dawn with a questioning glance before realizing that she was with him when he last seen Byron, "Well, he's off trying to get himself some more badges, I'm currently here with my boyfriend Foxx."

"That's me." replied Foxx from Dawn's side with a smile.

"I see, here I thought the other guy was your boyfriend." replied Byron with a grin.

"Nope more of a big brother." replied Dawn as she placed an arm around Foxx "This is the only boyfriend I've had."

"Well as much as I enjoy hearing her call me her boyfriend was there something something you were a wanting to discuss with us?" asked Foxx with a smile.

"Well, I saw how you handled those Team Galactic Grunts and was wondering if you'd be up for a battle of our own? It can either take place here or in the next city after you've had a chance to heal them up." replied Byron with a grin.

"No, I'll battle you here as I've managed to heal my pokemon for the most part or at least enough of them for a simple three on three battle if that's good enough for you?" replied Foxx with a grin.

With that Dawn helped to arrange the gathering crowd into a safe distance perimeter for a simple pokemon duel. As for Foxx and Byron they each took up a position across from each other. Now Foxx didn't have his normal advantage of studying or knowing his opponent yet he was still confident in his pokemon to be able to pull through with the victory.

The first pokemon that Byron throughout was Bronzor, while Fox choice to play it safe and sent out Umbreon. This was a fare fight until umbreon managed to hit him with a well timed psybeam which lead to the bronzor being knocked out but not without doing a little damage to umbreon first.

Next up Byron sent out his steelix of which Foxx was about to withdraw his Umbreon only for it to look at him and plead to be left in, so Foxx nodded before opening the battle once more. Now this time it wasn't as balanced of a fight and victory only came by Foxx's Umbreon successfully landing a surprise flamethrower. You see he's been hanging around Foxx's Eevee enough that Eevee has started to teach him a few things.

Unfortunately, at the same time Byron's steelix hit umbreon with a powerful dragon breath which in turn lead to a double knockout. With a smile Foxx recalled umbreon before sending out Eevee thus saving Joy for last.

Byron's last pokemon that he sent out was bastiodon who was a greater power house then eevee and Joy thus Foxx was going to have rely on both of their speed to claim the overall victory but it wasn't going to be easy even with that. In fact it was only a matter of seconds before eevee was knocked out by a powerful chain of rock and steel attacks what eevee just wasn't able to dodge in time.

Thus now Foxx and Byron stood across from each other staring the other in the eyes trying to read the other. Foxx didn't even look away as Joy walked onto the battle field and began to stare down Byron's bastiodon. Thus Foxx reached out to her mentally to give her some encouraging words.

"I know he's bigger and stronger then you, but I know you can do this. You've faced hard odds and stronger foes. This one will be no different, yet know this I will love you and care about you the same weather you win or loose but we both know you're not going o let him get away with hurting your friends." mentally encouraged Foxx with a smile before calling out to her, "Joy! Fire and Ice Defense!"

To this Joy coated her paws in a frozen coat made of layers of flammable gases of which she then ignited. This meant she would be shielded by both a hard icy shell as well as a flame coat that would cause burn every time bastiodon made physical contact with Joy or she made physical contact with him.

"Interesting tactic but it wont protect your little vulpix from bastiodon's attacks." chuckled Byron before he called out, "Bastiodon! Rampaging Charge!"

"Joy evasive maneuvers!" called Foxx as Byron's bastiodon charged at Joy with great rage.

In response Joy ran at a slight angle towards her attacker's left before springing into the air sliding right over it's back but close enough to cause minor burn damage. Now this repeated about three more times before the bastiodon got smart and bucked up just as Joy was passing over thus sending her hard into the cave roof before she then crashed hard on the ground.

This had done enough damage to shatter her shielding and winder her as she struggled on wobbly legs to get her footing. Then with a smile or what could be assumed as a smile the bastiodon charged once more at Joy only for her to explode in a cloud so snow and icy mist causing confusion to fill the cave to the point that no one noticed the cloud of smoke coming from under bastiodon until it was too late.

For in one instant the cloud burst into flames burning bastiodon's stomach and side. Now before it or Byron could even respond Joy leaped out from behind him and hit it with a point blank range Ice beam thus causing bastiodon to stagger before fainting thus filling the cave with gasps of shock. That is except for Byron who'd recalled bastiodon before slowly approaching Foxx while performing a slow clap.
