Tyson released Abra from the Poké Ball and placed the ball gently in front of him.
"To stabilize your injury, I temporarily kept you in the Poké Ball. Now that you're healed, you're free to go," Tyson said softly. "As much as I'd like you to stay, the choice is yours."
He stepped back, giving Abra the space and time needed to decide.
After spending these past days together, Tyson had grown attached to the little Psychic-type. Despite the deep bond they had formed, he wanted to respect Abra's decision without any coercion or ulterior motives like trading Abra for resources.
Abra stared at the Poké Ball in front of him for a moment. Then, without hesitation, he reached out, touched the ball, and willingly returned himself to it.
For this human who had shown him warmth and kindness—a feeling that reminded him of home—Abra was willing to trust and forge a partnership.
The ball shook briefly before settling, signaling a successful capture.
"We're partners from now on," Tyson said with a warm smile, releasing Abra again. He extended his hand toward the little Pokémon. "Please take care of me."
Abra gave a small nod and placed his hand in Tyson's, sealing their bond.
Finally able to examine Abra's details systematically, Tyson opened the interface.
Pokémon: Abra
Gender: Male
Ability: Inner Focus
Strength: Competent Level
Basic Skill: Teleport
Taught Skills: None
Inherited Skills: Ally Switch, Skill Swap
Seeing the information, Tyson realized how Abra had survived for so long despite the harsh environment. His strong mental fortitude, derived from exceptional psychic abilities, allowed him to endure. This understanding deepened Tyson's affection for Abra.
"From now on, we're a team. We'll fight together, and I promise to never let anyone hurt you again," Tyson said firmly, gently patting Abra's head.
Abra smiled and nodded again, his determination to grow stronger evident in his eyes.
Preparing for the Final Hunt
With the joy of befriending Abra fueling his resolve, Tyson began preparing for the final hunt. His earlier tasks were now completed, and the team was in excellent condition.
Charmeleon had reached level 29, just one step away from the Advanced Level. However, Tyson chose not to rush his progression. Experience had taught him that breaking through too quickly could hinder a Pokémon's ability to adapt and control its newfound strength. Charmeleon was already strong enough to handle the upcoming challenges.
Eevee had reached level 23 and had recently learned Swift, a move that provided a reliable attack. Meanwhile, Charmeleon had trained diligently, upgrading all skills except Dragon Dive to Intermediate level. With the help of mission points, Flamethrower and Dragon Breath had reached advanced proficiency, greatly enhancing their effectiveness.
Eevee, too, had made strides, with all her skills at intermediate proficiency and both Helping Hand and Swift advanced. Though training proficiency beyond intermediate was challenging without prolonged effort or specific opportunities, Tyson was proud of their progress.
Despite completing numerous missions, Tyson had only 200 mission points remaining. These points had been crucial for the team's rapid growth, and the newly refreshed task list reflected their accomplishments:
Current Tasks
Charmeleon:
Reach Advanced Level: 300 points
Increase Strength by 5 Levels: 50 points
Increase Strength by 10 Levels: 200 points
Upgrade 5 Skills to Advanced Proficiency: 200 points (3/5 complete)
Upgrade 7 Skills to Advanced Proficiency: 300 points (5/7 complete)
Eevee:
Increase Strength by 5 Levels: Completed
Increase Strength by 10 Levels: Completed
Increase Strength by 12 Levels: 300 points (7/12 complete)
Upgrade 3 Skills to Advanced Proficiency: 100 points (2/3 complete)
Upgrade 5 Skills to Advanced Proficiency: 200 points (3/5 complete)
Abra:
Increase Strength by 5 Levels: 75 points
Having secured Abra as his third Pokémon, Tyson noted the two new tasks that appeared upon Abra's capture. One had already been completed, further proving the system's responsiveness.
After organizing his supplies, Tyson began his journey toward the stronghold, ignoring any wild Pokémon along the way. For now, completing Shadow's assigned tasks took precedence over earning mission points.
Laying a Trap
After navigating familiar paths, Tyson arrived near the forest surrounding the stronghold. Carefully scouting the area, he identified several locations suitable for ambushes and concealed himself nearby, waiting for unsuspecting prey.
It seemed others had similar plans. By the next day, a trainer named Hawke arrived, meticulously checking the area to avoid falling victim to an ambush.
Tyson signaled Eevee to act.
"Eevee, use Yawn!"
The drowsy waves enveloped Hawke but had little effect on his partner, an Infernape with the Ability Blaze. However, Tyson's true target was Hawke himself.
While Infernape growled defensively, Abra teleported Hawke to Tyson's location. Before Hawke could react, Tyson struck with a dagger, swiftly ending the encounter.
As Hawke collapsed, Infernape roared in fury, charging at Eevee. Charmeleon intercepted the attack with a well-timed Flamethrower, immobilizing the enraged Pokémon.
Tyson quickly retrieved Infernape's Poké Ball from Hawke's belongings, recalling the Pokémon and locking the ball.
Abra's inclusion in the team had significantly enhanced their ability to execute efficient hunts. However, Tyson knew that Hawke's body would leave evidence. After burning the remains, Tyson relocated to a new ambush site, prepared to continue his hunt.
