Rookies tournament and Chancey

I entered the Pokemon center. Nurse joy was at the reception with no one there before her. I reached out for the check-up for Bulbasaur.

normal check-ups and heals from Pokemon center are either free or cost very less, but I opted for the 10,000 dollars one, cause when you have the money for it, then why not?

After placing the Pokemon in her responsible hands I contacted the Chancey trainer to finalize the deal. I paid 18 million Pokedollars which was a lot but when you have 400 million in your account your view of money changes.

I mean you can get a space-time capsule with storage and self-healing properties for living beings for 200 Poke dollars. ( I am talking about the Pokeballs), I had inquired about it and was flabbergasted that the Nurse occupation pays 12,000 Pokedollars per month. And this is considered a high-paying job.

Anyhow, I got to the transfer machine where I have to place my empty Pokeball that would be exchanged with the Chancey one.

The said Chancey is very talented if one reads her resume. She was a nurse for Nurse Joy who worked as a nurse in some other region, I did not ask where though. She was taught to take care of Pokemns and later taught some healing moves for the same. Further, she was taught cooking and cleaning for work around the house. Also, she has Silver potential, which gives her a chance of reaching high levels easier and learning good moves.

Chancey is one of the few pokemon who don't evolve without special conditions and is not very dependent on the level she is at. Her first evolution, Happiny is a happy pokemon, literally. Wherever she is found the environment just improves on its own. It has something to do with her aura of happiness.

When Happiny holds an Oval stone in the daytime, no matter what level she is at she evolves into Chancey. Chancey herself is a non-combatant pokemon and I don't aim to use her as my battle Pokemon. She has an attack stat of 5 in some Pokemon games I played, but her Defence is very high while specializing in healing and household work.

Furthermore the evolution of Chancey, Blissey evolves on the conditions of the high friendship with her trainer. So I have my hopes up for her.

I wonder why someone would trade such a Chancey but everyone has different circumstances.

In just a second the Pokeball shined white and a new somewhat old Pokeball was in its place. I picked up the Pokeball and brought the new addition to my group outside.

"Chancey!"

Gender - Female (Chancey can only be female)

Moves - Copycat (C) Pound (C) Sing (C) Life Dew(B+) Heal Pulse(B+)

Untrained attacking moves include Copycat, Sing, and Pound which was expected and does not matter to me as much as her healing moves do.

Copycat just copies move and Pound just pounds with no additional effect.

Sing though, puts the target to sleep if it hits. Sleeping Pokémon cannot move (with some exceptions such as Snore). But untrained it can easily be resisted.

The healing water-type move, Life Dew and Healing Pulse, and Psychic-type moves are the threshold of what they can be before her evolution. but this much is fine.

Life Dew recovers the user and others' health by using mysterious water, while Health pulse is the psychic counterpart of pulse-type attacks. Healing Pulse does more healing than the Life dew, but it can only be used on others and never on self.

Pulse-type attacks are one of the few attacks which are present in every type of element the Pokemon are. Like Pulse-type attacks include Water pulse, Dark pulse, DRagon pulse, Terrain pulse, etc.

Back to my Chancey.

"Hey Chancey from now on you are my Pokemon, I will keep you safe and feed you while you just have to enjoy and sometimes take care of your teammates when they get injured." Whoa, I came out too strong and direct didn't I? I should have introduced and all that. But then I saw Chancey saluting me with an excited expression. "Chancey!!" "Well if that works." I shrugged.

"Chancey?"

"Your other mates? We only have one friend with us for now, he is with nurse Joy, just wait for some time." I then saw Nurse Joy waving at me. "Looks like your wait is already over." We walked to the reception to get the Bulbasaur Pokeball.

Come to think about it, Chancey is most probably older than me, can I change her Pokeball, it is old, maybe by changing the Pokeball it upgrades whatever area the Pokemon dwells inside the ball.

"Nurse Joy, I wanted to ask is there a way to change Chancey's balls- I mean Pokeball?" That came out wrong. I took the Bulbasaur Pokeball and tucked it into my Pokebelt, yes we have belts to hold Pokeballs.

"Ah, you can just give me the Pokeball and pay for the new Pokeball and transfer the price."She asked and I did as she told me. and for just 300 Pokedollars our Chancey got a new Pokeball.

I turned to leave then I remembered, was not the Rookie tournament application filled at the Pokemon centers? "Nurse Joy I also had to fill out the application for the Rookies tournament."

"Oh come here. Just fill in your name here and then go to the arena behind the center. They are hosting the prelims for the tournament." I filled out my name and left for the preliminaries of the tournament.

Behind the Center was a larger building, I wonder how I missed this. I entered the building to be welcomed by a beautiful lady at the reception.

"I am here for the Pokemon Rookies tournament tryouts?"

"Name and League Id?"

"Ethan Hunt and here is my Pokedex." "Confirmed"

"So how do you do this? do I get eliminated after losing my first battle?"

"Oh everyone is welcome in the rookies' tournament, the tryouts are just for parting experience and to make you train harder. Most of you will experience one if not your first loss here that's the purpose of tryouts otherwise every rooky, meaning first-year trainer gets to participate in the tournament"

"Oh is that so, what if I win?"

"Then you are given a bye or if no bye is needed, you are just paid more attention to from the start, meaning you are some of those trainers whose first round battle will be broadcasted."

"Okay. So who am I fighting with?"
