Who's Matthew?

I sat down on a bench outside the mall about two hours later.

I checked my phone to see that it was already 6:23 pm.

I looked at Jane and Vanessa who were chitchatting in front of me.

"Hey, it's getting late." I said and stood up.

"Oh, I didn't even notice it got so late." Vanessa said as she looked at her watch.

"Should I drop you two off?" I asked as we walked toward the parking lot.

"Sure." they both said in unison and then started their usual banter.

"Jinx!" they said together.

"Double Jinx!" they said together.

"Triple Jinx!" they said together.

"Quadruple Jinx! And now stay quiet!" I yelled at them as I opened the car door and sat in.

They sat in the back and I started the car.

I dropped Vanessa off first and then dropped June.

As I drove back to the mansion, I got a call. I looked at my phone and saw that it was Matthew. I declined the call and continued driving.

Just as the thought of how much I was gonna regret doing that on Monday crossed my mind, my phone started buzzing again.

I looked over and saw that it was Matthew again. I declined again and focused my eyes on the road.

My phone started buzzing again and I just kept my eyes on the road.

The call went on missed and then there was another. I just quit and picked it up.

"What do you want? I'm driving Matthew." I said as I put my phone on speaker and put it on the passenger seat.

"Who's Matthew?" came David's voice and I felt like a bucket of cold water had been dumped on me.
