Chapter 30: Magic Girl

" Magic...girl?" Yuyu found himself a little dazed by the revelation.

"Yeah, that's right," the transparent magician nodded eagerly. "I've been trying to reach out to duelists in this world, but no one responded to me..."

Suddenly, everything made sense to Yuyu. The voice Xuelang heard earlier belonged to the Dark Magician Girl. It all fell into place now.

"But wait... I don't remember having you in my deck," Yuyu pointed out.

"That's true, but I'm currently attached to you temporarily, so the card containing my essence is automatically added to your deck," the girl explained, shaking her head. In the process, her oversized hat slipped down, partially covering her eyes.

"So, you're my master now," she continued while quickly adjusting her hat, a slightly awkward but undeniably cute gesture.

Yuyu began to grasp the situation. The girl before him was a card spirit from the world of Duel Monsters. While countless cards existed in the Yu-Gi-Oh world, card spirits were quite rare, and not every card had an accompanying spirt.

Some of the more well-known examples included the Blue-Eyes White Dragon in President Haima's possession. It was evident that they had accompanying spirts. The Dark Magician in the game also had a card spirit.

The Dark Magician Girl in the game must have been a card spirit too.

Even among the same hero's , there could be various card spirits. For instance, during the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Academy Festival, a different Dark Magician Girl card spirit appeared on stage. It was distinct from the one in the game.

"Our world is a manifestation of the thoughts in your world and that of your. The two are inseparable," the magician girl began to explain. "To put it simply, an evil will is attempting to extract energy from our world, thereby invading you master and your world. Although it hasn't fully awakened yet, once it does, it will unleash a terrifying force of evil. I am here to inform the people of this world..."

At that moment, Mr. T, who had been watching the events unfold with folded arms, chimed in, his voice nonchalant, "So, it's a mischievous spirit causing trouble, huh? Well, since it's such a bother, I guess I'll help put an end to it along with you."

The magician girl's expression turned angry as she glared at Mr. T with intense eyes.

"Heh, the magic girl is mad. How frightening," Mr. T shrugged, smiling indifferently. "But let me remind you, the duel is still in progress, and you don't have much time left. If you keep dawdling like this, I'll consider it the end of the round for you."

Giving Mr. T a disdainful look, the dark magician girl then turned to Yuyu, clenching her small fist and offering words of encouragement. "Anyways, defeat him here first! I'll also do my best!"

"Um... thank you," Yuyu said helplessly. "But even with you in my possession... I can't summon you right now."

Aside from the fact that the Dark Magician Girl card was a six-star monster requiring a sacrifice, Yuyu currently had no cards on the field to summon her, and even if he could summon her, truth be told... she wouldn't be all that useful.

Avian, also known as the "Odd Fish," clenched his teeth, tensed his muscles, and stood tall, preparing for the imminent assault. Behind the blazing zombie, a trail of fire billowed forth, extending its five fiery fingers, ready to strike Avian head-on.

Yuyu executed the same maneuver as the previous round. "Activate the trap card!"

Mr. T repeated his previous move, his dark spirit energy swirling towards Yuyu from above, attempting to disrupt his actions same as in the previous round.

However, this time, the energy he unleashed hit a transparent magic barrier just half a meter in front of Yuyu and dispersed.

The dark magician girl brandished her staff, staring angrily at Mr. T, her cheeks puffed up in obvious irritation at his conduct during the duel.

"Swift Scarecrow!" Mr. T's trick was thwarted, and Yuyu successfully activated the trap card. "Nullifies the opponent's monster attack and it ends the Battle Phase!"

The trap card's whirlwind blew the blazing zombie back, prematurely ending the Battle Phase for both sides, including Mr. T's Meteor Black Dragon, which had yet to attack and was left unable to battle.

Mr. T snorted. "Tch, annoying. But soon, it'll be the end for both of you."

Yuyu survived.

It seemed that, no matter what, this would likely be Yuyu's last round.

"My turn... I draw a card!"

Without hesitation, Yuyu immediately activated the Destiny Draw skill. Which allowed him to draw a life saving card. Cheats for the win.

"...Activate 'Pot of Greed!'" Yuyu slotted the newly drawn card into his card holder without even looking at it. "This card allows me to draw two additional cards from the deck!"

Yuyu drew two more cards from the deck.

Glancing sideways at the card he had just drawn, he couldn't help but smirk.

Here it comes!

The plot armor!

"I'll tribute 'Elemental Hero Avian' on the field..." Yuyu glanced at the girl standing in front of him, waving her staff. They exchanged glances.

"...Summon 'Dark Magician Girl'!"

A white whirlwind enveloped the Avian on the field, transforming it into a golden light that dissipated into the air.

A surge of powerful magic energy emanated, and a graceful figure materialized at the center of the arena. The ethereal phantom floating in front of Yuyu vanished, replaced by the corporeal form of the magician girl emerging from the magical storm in the center.

She skillfully twirled her wand a few times, gracefully sweeping it in front of her as her pink skirt fluttered gently in the airflow.

Yuyu felt a momentary relief in the pressure weighing on his heart, as if the darkness that had been brewing on his side was gradually dissipating.

"Next, I activate the spell card in my hand... 'Monster Reborn'!"

Mr. T chuckled at the mention of the card. "But there's only a bunch of trash monsters in your graveyard. No matter what you resurrect, it won't be a match for the 'Meteor Black Dragon'!"

"Who said I was going to resurrect a monster from my graveyard?" Yuyu smiled.

"...Then, what do you intend to resurrect?" Mr. T asked, puzzled.

Yuyu extended his hand and pointed directly at Mr. T's graveyard on the duel mat. "...The 'Dark Archetype' card in your graveyard!"

'Monster Reborn' was a rare SR-level magic card. It allowed the player to Special Summon a monster from either their own or their opponent's graveyard onto their side of the field.

Mr. T watched in shock as a golden light emanated from the tomb area of his duel mat, and the card of the Dark Archetype flew out, seemingly drawn to Yuyu's hand, only to be immediately summoned to the field.

Yuyu said with a smile. "I activate the spell card in my hand—'Polymerization'!

"With 'Dark Archetype' as my substitute, I'll fuse it with the 'Sparkman' in my hand and perform a Fusion Summon—

—'Elemental Hero Shining Flare Wingman'!"
