Jade Emperor POV
I called in for a assembly, for us, there were four kinds of assembly; emergency assembly, non-emergency assembly, selected assembly, and higher immortal assembly.
To be frank, I hate my job, and my life, when I was a mortal, I was high and mighty, the emperor of China. But being as stupid as I was, I convinced my daughters to trick death and help me become immortal, I achieved my goal, only to have eternal work as a pay back. You see, I might be able to call on assemblies, but instead of that being a privilege it was more of a burden and job. I had to call on assemblies when there were enemies or problems, I couldn't offend anyone here, they're either the friend of someone more powerful than me, or they're more powerful then me. But I had to suck this up and do as they say, instead of others working for me, it was me working for others nowadays.
I rubbed my temples as a bunch immortals gathered in the meeting room, the current one that we're in is non-emergency assemblies, similar to the emergency assembly where every immortal should come, but the topic is not of a immediate threat.
I leaned against the podium, waiting until all of them trickled in, or when the hall looks full.
Waiting for them was hard when I first started the job, but as the eons went by, I got used to it.
Suddenly a hand clasped around my shoulder, instantly I twirled around and the hand was lifted, but behind me I saw nobody, then arms wrapped around me in a hug while a raspy voice laughed behind me.
¨Ha ha, even after so long, it never gets too boring teasing you.¨
I laughed and turned to Wang Nian, who was often referred to as death, and yes, he's the death that my daughters tricked back then, and because of that, most assumes that me and him were die hard enemies, but no, we found friendship amidst pain. We were both lowly immortals, or else I wouldn't have been able to cheat him to become immortal, and it was also because we were both of such lowly status that he and I found such common points that we became such good friends. We were both deities, meaning we were immortal, but not gods, gods and goddesses have their own domains, but we didn't, and immortals such as us were referred to as deities. Now, Wang Nian may be referred to as death, but he's not, he just take's up the job, death is to important to be ignored, and the God of Death has yet to be found, so someone got to reap the souls of others until the Death God is found.
I gestured for him to sit and said. "Well, and even after so long you still haven't grown up from your childish pranks."
We chatted while waiting for all the immortals to come in, we talked about his job mainly, or Wang Nian complaining about his job.
After a while the hall seemed full enough for me to do my speech, so I told Wang Nian that we'll talk later and walked to the podium, walked up the stairs and went to the lectren on the podium.
"My dear fellow immortals, as most of you know, we have established a ally relationship with the Roman, or Greek, civilization. As we have chosen, the God of Pain, and the God of Rocks, both of god status and have their own domains, to go, but we need a last volunteer, and it seems, that most of you aren't as willing to volunteer, but the Roman and Greek gods hold great power, and we would benefit largely from this relationship, so may I ask, are there any of you who are willing to volunteer."
Silence echoed through the room, which wasn't anything out of my expectations, everyone enjoyed their current lifestyles, and most of them apposed the relationship with the Greek and Romans, and if they somehow offended the other side, the blame would be on all their shoulders, making others hesitate to volunteer.
I fought the urge to rub my temples, if no one else volunteered then only I could go, this was necessary, three people were required from our side for the exchange program, and it wouldn't be befitting to change this now.
Suddenly I noticed that a figure stood up from the corner of my eye, the figure was wearing a cloak, as some immortals do, that hid his appearance. The figure raised his or hers hand and said in a unique and feminine clear voice. "I volunteer for the exchange program."
Relief washed over me, I beamed to the woman, as I assumed because of her voice. "Thank you for volunteering, you would be going to Camp Half-Blood."
She nodded, then I rushed down the podium and gestured for her to follow me. While I turned to the other immortals. "Assembly dismissed, thank you all for coming here."
I walked down the hall with volunteer following me, I opened the door to my office and gestured for her to go in.
She walked into my office and sat down on a sofa. While I took a sheet of paper from the desk drawer.
"Please tell me your name."
"Tong Bing"
"Your status."
"God of Ice."
My hand that was filling out the information paused.
"God?"
"Yes, and I see that like most, you have assumed my gender to be that of female status."
I looked at her- no - him, his figure was feminine, with curves at just the right place, even his voice was feminine, but - I glanced at his flat chest - yes, it seemed that I have indeed misinterpreted his gender, and I cringed at the thought of offending him.
"Sorry"
"No worries, you are not the first, and unfortunately, probably not the last."
I nodded my head, then kept asking him questions, when we were done he went out with another sheet that stated him as part of the exchange program. I escorted him out then went back to Wang Nian who asked me.
"How did it go?"
"It went well, although he kept the profile picture blank."
"Makes sense, after all, with your face on a paper that could go anywhere isn't exactly safe, could be a easy way for you enemies to find you, and we all know that -"
"Everyone has their enemies."
"Yes." Wang Nian gave me a slight smile as he replied to me.
I returned the smile, however I knew that we both had an uneasy feeling about this exchange program, and because of it things might probably change, and for us, it would definitely not change for the better.
