Chapter 122

[Third Person's PoV]

Lucian and Medea sat next to each other discussing various things.

"How's your magic training coming along?" Medea asked curiously and with expectations.

"It's going really well. My magic now has its own color," Lucian said as his hands started to glow a dark red color.

Medea raised an eyebrow in surprise. "You've already reached that stage, huh? As expected of you. Do you remember what it means to have your magic turn into a color unique to you?"

Lucian nodded. "It means I've begun making magic my own. It reflects my mastery in influencing magic to the point where it gains a characteristic from me, which in my case is a dark red aura."

Medea nodded as her own hands began to glow with her unique color. "And mine happens to be magenta."

"Yeah, but this occurred a while ago."

"It has? Since when?"

"Pretty sure since I was nine. It started when I found a magic I specialize in."

"Which is…?"

"Curses and hexes. Although I can use other specialties, curses and hexes are where I excel the most. Did I not tell you about how I defeated the infamous Baba Yaga in a magic duel?"

Medea leaned on her hand as she listened to Lucian's recount of their duel. She had a small smile on her face as she moved and played with Lucian's hair.

"And then I gouged out her eyes with my bare hands as she screamed in agony and turned into dust."

Medea chuckled as she listened. "Oh? And what did you do with them?"

"I still have them preserved. I'm honestly still thinking about what to do with them. I was considering implanting them into my eyes so I could gain foresight as one of my many abilities, but I don't really know how that would turn out."

Medea put two fingers on her chin as she thought about the application. "I say go for it."

"Really?" Lucian asked, looking at Medea in confusion.

Medea nodded. "From all that you are telling me, you are someone smart with a bit of recklessness mixed in. I'm sure you can think of countermeasures if it doesn't work out, and having foresight will be a way to keep you safe from danger. So go for it."

The two continued talking for a while longer until Medea suddenly stopped and sighed reluctantly while closing her eyes.

"I don't like the sound of that…" Lucian muttered.

Medea chuckled. "I suppose you wouldn't, hehe. My time is coming up again."

Lucian's lips curled into an unpleased expression. "Seriously?"

Medea nodded. "I already stayed my days. I'm allowed to be out of the Underworld. Anymore and it would upset your father."

"Let him be mad, who cares," Lucian muttered.

Medea only smiled lovingly toward him. "Your father was already being kind enough to allow me to be out. It wouldn't be right to spit on his kind gesture. And you know how serious your father is about his duties."

"I guess…"

"Goodbyes are always the hardest, aren't they?" Medea smiled sadly while pushing his hair out of his face.

Lucian simply nodded with his head down. There was always something about Medea that brought out the inner child in Lucian.

Medea stood up and made Lucian stand up with her. She held his face, making him do duck lips, which made her smile. She kissed his forehead and muttered, "Stay safe out there, my love, alright?"

Lucian nodded as Medea started turning back into golden particles. "I love you, Lucy. Forever and always."

"Forever and always," Lucian muttered back, smiling at her. Although his eyes expressed the sadness he was feeling, he didn't want his mother to leave with the last image of him being depressed.

Once Medea was gone, Lucian exhaled sharply to calm himself. "You three can come out now."

Instantly, the three sisters appeared in the seats they were sitting in. "Thank you for allowing me to talk to my mother," Lucian bowed slightly.

All three simply nodded with smiles of contentment on their faces.

"So does that mean…" Clotho softly said in a hopeful manner.

"We're good, don't worry," Lucian said, rolling his eyes in amusement.

"YES!" Clotho said as she pumped her fist. She felt everyone looking at her, causing her to blush, which was very prominent on her white complexion.

Clotho quickly cleared her throat and sat upright with her hands interlocking in front of her on the table. "I mean, that's nice to hear."

"So does that mean we can call you and have discussions with you?" Lachesis asked curiously.

"Fine, but don't make it a frequent thing."

"Once a week?" Atropos asked candidly.

Lucian shrugged his shoulders. "Sure, why not."

Atropos nodded in agreement, but before she had a chance to say anything else, Lucian started to become fainter, which caused all three of them to sigh.

"I'm guessing I'm waking up?" Lucian asked.

The three of them nodded, which caused Lucian to nod back.

Lucian gave them a two-finger salute. "Well, I guess until next week."

"Until next week, my love," Clotho muttered as she reached a hand out.

Lucian shook his head. "No, don't do that. It's weird. We're not there yet," he said as he disappeared from their sight.

Lachesis looked toward Clotho. "What the hell was that?"

Clotho had her hands covering her face as her ears turned beet red. "I didn't mean to, it just came out. Ughhhh, please kill me!" she said, banging her head on the table.

Lucian sat up on his bed, shirtless and wearing sweatpants. As he leaned back, he looked up at the ceiling with a small smile gracing his lips. "I'll see you in a bit, Mom."

He scratched his head before looking at his long hair, rubbing it between his fingers and smiling.

'Beatrice, are you busy?'

'I'm halfway through completing all the ruins, Master. What is wrong? Do you need something?'

'Can you meet me in a bit if it isn't too much trouble?'

'Of course, my lord. I'm always happy to serve.'

Lucian nodded and went down to his lab, where he picked up a chair and put it in the middle of his room. He leaned back and closed his eyes.

A minute later, Beatrice appeared gracefully from his shadow. "Yes, Master?"

"I need help with two things: cutting my hair and implanting your previous eyes in me."

Beatrice smiled and nodded. She walked around the room before finding scissors. Standing behind Lucian, she asked, "You ready, Master?" with a smile on her red glowing face.

Lucian smiled and nodded his head, closing his eyes. He felt Beatrice pick up parts of his hair before hearing the sound of scissors and feeling his hair slide down his body onto the floor.

A few more snips later, Beatrice was done. She picked up Lucian's chin and nodded in appreciation of the masterpiece she had created.

"Now for the painful part…" he said.

Beatrice looked around the shelf before noticing her previous eyes. She picked them up and walked toward Lucian.

"My lord, I have to warn you. Since you took my eyes by force while I was alive, they have become cursed. Anyone who looks into your eyes will experience their worst fears. It is a curse that will drive people away from you and stop you from making eye contact with the ones you love."

"I know, Beatrice. I have studied your eyes before. I know what they do. But you are forgetting one thing: curses are my discipline when it comes to magic. Instead of this curse becoming a disadvantage, I'll be able to control it."

Beatrice nodded. "Alright then, Master. Are you ready?"

"No… but go for it."

Beatrice cast a spell to lower Lucian's pain reception. She then grabbed his eyes from their sockets.

"Ahhhhh!" Lucian cried out. Even though his pain reception was numbed, he could still feel pain.

Lucian's sockets were empty, tears of blood escaping his eyes. Beatrice grabbed her eyes from the jar and switched them with Lucian's, preserving his original ones.

She softly used her magic to implant her eyes into his empty sockets, slowly healing them as her hands glowed with magic at her fingertips.

When she finished, Lucian still had his eyes closed. "Alright, my lord. Open them."

Lucian slowly and softly opened his eyes. His normal dark eyes were gone, replaced by red glowing eyes with magical wisps escaping from the sides.

"Get me a mirror," Lucian said as he wiped the blood from his face.

Beatrice retrieved a large handheld mirror and held it up to Lucian's face. His shiny, silky black hair was now short, barely reaching his eyes. His eyes held an intimidating dark glow with red wisps of magical energy escaping from them.

Lucian sighed as he reached into his shadow and pulled out a black cloth, tying it around his eyes. "Bartholomew, I'm going to need you to be my eyes while I get used to this."

From his shadow, a large crow flew out and landed on his shoulder. "Thank you, Beatrice. Even with short hair, I'm still hella sexy, so good job. Now I know it's not the hair that makes me good looking, it's just me."

Using Bartholomew's eyes, Lucian looked at himself with his eyes covered.

"..."

"Yowai Mo~"

Lucian felt Beatrice's gaze on him, causing him to blush. "You saw nothing," he ordered.

"You are dismissed, Beatrice. Thank you for your help," Lucian quickly dismissed her.

Beatrice nodded before sinking back into his shadow.

"Now to get these eyes under control…" Lucian muttered.
