Noah nodded in satisfaction while he watched the conclusion of Leonel's match. "Good job."
Leonel revealed a goofy smile and patted his chest. "Of course I did a good job. I had to do this much if I want the world to know that my sworn brother ain't the one carrying me around."
The transmigrator ignored the boy's sentence but didn't actually deny the claim. This made the latter's goofy smile widen a bit more. He then glanced at the participants and asked. "Who are you challenging?"
Noah answered immediately without any hesitation. "Number 1." Sensing a dangerous aura from his opponent wouldn't make the transmigrator shy away from a fight, instead it made a sense of curiosity grab hold of him, motivating him to fight against him.
The boy shrugged. "Can't say I'm surprised." His eyes narrowed as he stared at the apathetic boy. "I can recognize him. He's the genius of the Umbra House, known for their gift in using Umbra Essence, a dark affinity Essence with the perverted ability to drain their enemies of their stamina and Essence. Much more annoying is that he managed to awaken a sliver of the bloodline within his blood, The Dark Harvester. He's one tough bastard."
Noah nodded, digesting the information quickly. He then realized that he might have to utilize his Partial Embodiment early into the fight. "I hope so." His hand rose, pointing to the boy and initiating a challenge. "You."
The latter nodded, not hesitating to walk down the stairs that had materialized before his platform. The two soon appeared on the stage below and stared at each other.
The black haired boy unsheathed his short swords. "My name is Emery Umbra. You?"
"Noah. No last name." Noah's words now confirmed the words Leonel had spoken earlier. He noted that his opponent had kept his sheathe belted to his waist and summoned his long sword from his World ring.
"Then you must really be a genius if you could reach such a level on your own."
"I try my best."
A calm silence permeated through the air for a while. Then in the next second both of them released their full power.
Noah summoned all at his disposal, holding nothing back. His two Battlesouls materialized behind him while his arms dragonified as scales appeared over his skin all the way to his elbow and claws replacing his fingers. This confirmed his identity as a Half-dragon. He also executed his Flowing Partial Embodiment right off the bat, knowing that he would barely have time to use it otherwise.
Emery also knew that his fight would be a tough fight if he held back so he also brought out all his cards. His Battlesoul roared into existence, displaying a brilliance that was shockingly a bit brighter than Noah's. The Battlesoul was a humanoid beast type soul, possessing a crimson hue within its ferocious eyes, deadly claws and sharp, long canine teeth. Its skin was covered in a dark membrane that seemed to serve as a protective layer, it covered most of the beast's body, even covering a bit of its chin area. And it possessed bat-like wings. All in all, to Noah, it looked like a vampire that possessed a dark membrane like armor. This was the Emperor Grade Dark Harvester Battlesoul.
The dark haired boy also proved that he was a Half-blood like Noah by revealing his clawed hand and arms that had been coated by the same dark membrane that his Battlesoul possessed.
Once their transformations were done, they both leaped at each other swing their blades. Noah punched at the air, launching a Dragon Cannon that Emery slapped the side with his palm. The latter suffered a slight injury from that encounter but nothing that couldn't be quickly healed by his Blood Essence.
His short swords found themselves in their sheathes before slashing with an even faster speed. "Dark Shadow: Quick Draw."
Noah eyes widened at that tremendous blade drawing speed and quickly executed his Dragon Guard martial skill and crossing his dragonified arms. His action prevented a deep injury, only allowing two shallow cuts to appear on his scales. Blood seeped out of the wound, but his dragon like vitality, though little, quickly began its work on the wound and stopped the bleeding.
But his surprise soon turned to shock as he watched the Half-vampire move with that same incredible speed once more and drive past his nonexistent defense to leave two much deeper wounds just above the initial wounds. A slight sense of weakness filled his body and he quickly connected to the draining ability Leonel had talked about before. But something else caught his attention.
It was obvious Emery had performed the same Quick Draw skill but Noah, equipped with his Silver Dragon Eyes, and could see that the dark haired boy hadn't expended even half of the Essence he had used in the initial attack! This meant that he hadn't executed the skill once more! He had somehow cast it continuously! "What was that?!"
Noah couldn't control himself from asking, even during a fight. This was something he hadn't seen even in his past life after all.
Emery revealed the same apathetic eyes as he landed on the ground and crouched into a battle stance while slowly sheathing his short swords once more, as if in preparation of another attack. Still, he didn't refuse to answer and instead spoke. "Flow Execution. It's an advance technique, I'm surprised someone of your caliber hasn't stumbled upon this. Even your teammates perform something of a lesser version of this after all."
That revelation caused Noah's eyes to widen. He couldn't believe that he had missed such a crucial practice. It was true, Leonel, Damien and Mona could be using lesser versions of the Flow Execution but since their versions only allowed a little bit of Essence to be saved, he never learned of it while studying them with his Eye soul skill.
But that wasn't the true reason. The way Emery stated it was if the technique came to a Battlesoul master as if a form of battle experience. Which meant someone like him who had dived into multiple battles over the years should have touched upon its concept. Meaning that something was blocking his ability to use this skill. And he had an idea what it was.
But he had to cut his thoughts short as he suddenly felt a spike of danger. His Essence circulated and he executed Flicker to teleport to side, successfully dodging a sneak attack from his opponent. The Half-vampire seemed to possess a Battle art skill with a similar property of teleportation.
Noah looked at his former position and noticed that Emery was no longer there. He immediately grit his teeth and brought his sword to his back, blocking a sudden attack to his nape.
Slithering Dragon.
The Half-dragon twisted around with amazing dexterity, his arm muscles expanding as he did so and with a grunt he launched a punch at the Half-vampire's gut, sending the latter flying a few meters backwards.
The dark haired Half-blood spat out a bit of blood but a bit of excitement soon filled his apathetic eyes while they stared at the transmigrator's cold ones. He pointed at Noah before speaking. "Dark Shadow: Back Stab."
The Half-dragon tensed, twisting while expecting his opponent to appear behind him once more. But what awaited him was multiple dark tendrils that jumped out of his shadow to pierce through his skin. His eyes widened and quickly flickered dodging the attack.
He knew that his opponent would try to use this chance so he parted his lips, releasing a roar that spread out in the stage.
"Dragon's Roar!!!"
It fulfilled its role, stopping Emery in his track and allowing Noah to appear before him with a swirl of Essence coating his sword. "Drill Thrust."
