I got into the car and gave Aaren a questioning look. "Are you okay?"
He sat in the driver's seat and rested his head against the steering wheel, gripping it until his knuckles were white. "Who the fuck does she think she is? We don't even know her. She's been here, what, a day?"
I considered how to broach the topic without him getting p*ssed and flying off the handle. "You know who she is."
He looked at me then, rage contorting his face. "What in God's name are you talking about?"
"She's one of us." It was a simple fact, one that I wouldn't bother denying or arguing.
He laughed and jabbed a finger at me. "I'm not going to deal with another one of your obsessions. You've known her for a day and she can barely look at you. She hates us, she's here to try and ruin us."
I shrugged, not caring what he thought he knew. "Then why is she still here? And why is she getting under your skin so easily?" I didn't give him time to reply. "It's because she belongs with us."
