"There is no point in worrying about our next step right now," grunted Ba'dqeel as he laid his napkin back down on the table and moved his chair back. "What we need to do right now is get you some sleep."
I hummed in agreement as I reached out to take the hand he offered me. Ma'stbaut, always faster than I expected, was already out of his chair and pulling mine back to give me room.
"Thank you," I called out, looking up at the ceiling of the great hall. I didn't know if this castle was sentient or an advanced AI that was around before AI was a thing. But no matter what it was, I deserved my gratitude and respect. "Dinner was delicious. It was everything I didn't know I needed."
The very walls of the castle seemed to hum in happiness as a corridor just off to our right lit up. Carefully, like I was some type of treasure, Ba'dqeel led me toward the hallway and hopefully toward a bedroom.
