Panda Gets EXP By Sleeping?!

Blakely Arcas is a socially dense 15-year-old who hates wasting her energy on unnecessary things. "Why make the bed if I will be getting back into it later on?" "Is it really necessary to spend four years with a bunch of loud, obnoxious teens just to get a piece of paper? How about we cut the time in half? Make it two years instead. More time to sleep". When a new VR MMORPG is released, her best friends make her play it. "What do you mean I can be or do whatever I want in the game?! I want.... I want to be a Panda!" *I do not own the cover; please don't sue me. I will take it down, I swear! *

Pandas Love Cuddles. Family Time.

Ello, Panda Lovers. I have returned! I don't know if you read from my other account, but I was having trouble logging into this account. It took a while (1 Day/24 hours) to fix the problem, but I'm back. There are no chores or extra work to do. I'm all yours.

Inside Blakely's bedroom, as she shed her VR helmet, the fatigue of the day's adventures washed over her. She grabbed the nearest panda plushie, curling around it as she surrendered to sleep, her friends' laughter still echoing in her ears. Maven and Iris, looking on with fond exasperation, knew well the challenges of keeping their panda motivated but wouldn't have it any other way.

"Come on, Blakely. Dinner is almost ready." Maven tried to get her panda-loving friend away from Dreamland. Once she was there, it took a lot (primarily bites) to make her get up.

Maven and Iris just got a pitiful but cute groan from their friend.

Heading to the living room, the three girls were greeted by each family member absorbed in their evening routine, creating a scene of domestic harmony and gentle chaos that welcomed Blakely and her friends.

Bjorn Arcas, a robust man with a warm smile and eyes that always seemed to twinkle with silent laughter was nestled comfortably into the loveseat. His laptop balanced precariously on his knees, his fingers tapping away in a rhythm only he understood. Despite his focus, he remained aware of the dynamics around him, a skill honed from years of managing a bustling household and a demanding career. Looking up from his work, he smiled at his daughter. "Hello, Princess. Did you have fun playing the game?" His Deep, rich voice was filled with warmth and love. She always thought if a giant brown bear had a voice, it would be in her dad's.

"Yeah, Daddy, it was really fun," she answered with another yawn after giving a quick hug to the man. She then headed to the big couch where her mother was. She gave her one right before flopping down to lay on the older woman's comfy lap. Giggles entered the living room after seeing this.

Nearby, Theo, the younger of the twins, was deeply engrossed in grooming his collection of teddy bears. Each bear received meticulous attention, and their fur was brushed to a soft sheen under Theo's careful hands. His earnest concentration on such a tender task was a testament to the gentle soul he was growing into. Looking up from his dutiful task, he gave Blakely a small smile as a hello. Like his twin sister, he didn't show much expression. Blakely always found it rather cute.

Across the room, Cleo and Claire were engaged in a strategic battle over a chessboard. Cleo mirrored Claire's intense focus and determination expressions with her sharp, analytical mind. Claire, only a year older than Blakely, shared her baby sister's competitive spirit but approached the game with a calmness that belied her years. Their silent moves and thoughtful stares spoke volumes of their close bond, built on mutual respect and a love for intellectual challenges.

Brody, the eldest sibling at eighteen, watched the game from over Claire's shoulder, his comments both teasing and insightful. His presence brought a sense of security and comfort to the younger ones, and his easygoing nature made him the sibling everyone relied on during times of need. Looking at where Blakely was lying, getting head rubs from their mother, Brody smirked. "Hey, little sis. Already getting pampered I see."

Looking up from their mom's lap, Blakely threw a raspberry at him, "Meanie," eliciting a laugh from the group.

Soon, the conversation naturally turned to their recent adventures in Dew Lake, the girls animatedly sharing tales of their virtual exploits.

"The bakery scene was hilarious!" Iris exclaimed, laughing as she recounted Aergia's (Blakely's character) cookie obsession. "You should have seen how many cookies she tried to hoard!"

Maven chimed in, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "Let's not forget how she almost started a guild war over a pastry. Classic Blakely!"

Blakely caught between embarrassment and amusement, shrugged sheepishly. "What can I say? Those were some delicious cookies. And Maven shouldn't have tried to take my cookies." Blakely glared at Maven, who was sitting on the floor near her, along with Iris. Maven retaliated with a smirk. No regrets.

Their laughter filled the room, drawing curious glances from the twins and a knowing smile from Pamela. Even Bjorn looked up from his work, his expression softening as he listened to the joyous energy his daughter and her friends brought into the home.

Just as Cleo executed a checkmate, moving her queen with a triumphant flick of her wrist, the head maid, Mrs. Collins, appeared at the doorway. Her apron was pristine, and her presence commanded attention despite her soft-spoken nature.

"Dinner is ready," she announced, her voice carrying a gentle authority that had everyone moving. The announcement broke the various engagements: Theo carefully placed his last teddy bear on the couch, Claire and Cleo reset the chess pieces, and Brody stretched lazily, having been a spectator for the better part of the hour.

As they made their way to the dining room, the scent of roasted chicken and fresh herbs wafted through the air, mingling with the aroma of baked bread and a hint of cinnamon from a dessert yet unseen. The dining table was a large oak affair, its surface gleaming under the soft overhead lights, set meticulously with fine china and sparkling glassware.

Bjorn and Pamela (Blakely's and the siblings' mom) led the procession, their presence at the head of the table a reminder of the cohesive unity they fostered within their family. As everyone settled into their seats, Pamela placed her book on a small side table, her role as the evening's conversational conductor about to begin.

"So, tell us more about this bakery incident," Pamela urged, her voice filled with mirth as she served herself some salad.

Blakely took the cue, launching into a detailed recount of their digital afternoon. Her words painted vivid images of Aergia's antics and the virtual world they had temporarily inhabited. Her siblings listened with rapt attention, even Theo and Cleo giggling at the thought of Blakely's character hoarding virtual cookies.

As the meal progressed, the conversation ebbed and flowed from discussions about school projects and Claire's upcoming science fair to Brody's plans for college and his latest soccer tournament. The twins interjected with stories from their middle school class, turning the meal into a lively exchange of day-to-day experiences and dreams.

"Big sis, I made a painting of you at art class today. The teacher said it was really good. The school wants to put it in the school art contest," Cleo announced in a soft voice. Her delicate fairy-like face flushed with embarrassment. So cute.

Blakely smiled, hearing this. Cleo was always attached to Blakely. Sometimes, she would sneak into her room at night, snuggle up to her big sis, and fall asleep. When Blakely would wake up and find the little pixie clinging onto her, it always warmed her heart, knowing she was so loved. "I want to see it. I bet it's really cute."

"Big sis, big sis. Today at home Ed, I worked on a new teddy bear. When it's done, I want you to have it." Theo was also really attached to Blakely. Occasionally, he would drop by her room or anywhere she was relaxing and just sit by her and play with his stuffed bears. When asked why he did that he would say, "Big Sis is comfortable to be around." How sweet.

Looking across the table at her youngest brother, Blakely smiled. "Thanks, Little Teddy; I can't wait to get it. Your stuffed animals are so cute." That got a shy giggle out of him.

Dinner concluded with a delicious apple cinnamon pie (with marshmallows on top for Blakely), a perfect end to an evening filled with laughter and familial bonding. As they moved back to the living room for a nightcap of coffee and tea, Bjorn and Pamela shared a look of contentment, their hearts complete at the harmony and happiness that filled their home.

As the Arcas family settled back into the living room after a delightful dinner, the conversation naturally gravitated towards their adventures in the virtual realm of Dew Lake. With each sibling and friend having chosen a distinct path in the game, the diversity of their characters offered a rich tapestry of stories to share and discuss.

Blakely started the conversation, excited to delve into the details of her character, Aergia, a Panda Kin who specialized as a summoner. "It's amazing how the game allows me to blend my love for pandas with magical abilities. Today, I summoned my first panda, named Matcha. He's not just adorable; he's quite powerful, too," she explained, her eyes sparkling enthusiastically.

Sitting cross-legged on the floor, Maven grinned, "And I, as a Mystic Fox Kin illusionist, have been having a blast creating all sorts of visual tricks to confuse our enemies—and sometimes just to entertain." Her character, known for its cunning and agility, allowed her to weave intricate illusions that added a layer of depth and strategy to their gameplay.

Iris, whose character was a White Snake Kin Blade Dancer, shared her own experiences. "The agility and grace of the Blade Dancer are incredible. It's like dancing with every battle. Plus, my serpent-like abilities give me an edge in stealth and surprise attacks," she noted, mimicking a snake-like movement with her hand, which drew laughter from the group.

Hearing her friends talk about fighting, she asked, "Battle? When was this?"

Maven laughed while Iris stroked Blakely's hair. "This was before we met up, Blake. Iris and I spawned outside of the starter village. It was still close, but it was not in a safe zone. The spawning is random. You were pretty lucky to spawn inside the town. Iris found me reasonably quickly, though. As we headed to Dew Lake, we were attacked by PKers. If it weren't for the fact that the game functions similarly to real life, we would have died." Maven looked annoyed when discussing what had happened.

"The PKers were already Novive 1 Tier 2 in the Combat skill while we were still Tier 1. The game must not take account of real-life experience when it comes to class proficiency." Iris looked rather thoughtful when talking about the leveling system.

Cleo, the youngest daughter, was thrilled about her choice of a Void Witch and a Dark Elf race. "I got a black bear familiar today! It's like having my own shadow that can fight alongside me." Her pretty face was as stoic as ever, but her eyes showed excitement and happiness with the thought of magic and her new ally. Her character's ability to manipulate void magic gave her a mysterious edge that she found both intriguing and powerful. "I can help big sis now." Her words were spoken in a quiet tone, only able to be heard by her mother, who was next to her. Hearing her confession, Pamela hugged her youngest daughter, kissing Cleo on her head.

Theo, not to be outdone by his twin, excitedly talked about his Puppeteer, who specialized in teddy bears, mirroring his real-life love for his teddy bear collection. "My teddy bears in the game can come to life and protect me. It's like they're my friends, just like here," he said, gesturing toward the row of teddy bears lined up neatly on the couch.

Claire, who had chosen the Polar Bear Kin race and became a fighter class, shared her perspective on the close-ranged action she encountered. "It's pretty intense being in the thick of battle but being a Polar Bear Kin gives me strength and resilience. I can take hits and protect the team," she said, puffing her chest out slightly in a mock bravado.

The oldest Brody had chosen a Guardian class and selected the Grizzly Bear Kin race, aligning with his protective nature. "I see my role as the shield for the group. My Grizzly form allows me to absorb much of the damage and keep the threats at bay," he explained, his tone severe but filled with pride for his role within their virtual and honest family. "It also helps protect our little panda kin here, ruffling said panda lover's hair, causing a "Grrrr" from her.

As each family member described their adventures and roles, Pamela and Bjorn listened intently, occasionally interjecting with questions or expressing awe at the complex world their children and their friends navigated online. Pamela's eyes were exceptionally bright, and she was curious as she asked, "Does the game help you with teamwork?"

Brody nodded enthusiastically, "Absolutely, Mom. It's all about working together, using our strengths to cover each other's weaknesses. It's a lot like how we do things here at home."

Bjorn smiled, satisfied with the parallel. "It sounds like you're all having fun with the game. I'm glad. I will have to let your aunt know about the PKers, though. As one of the leading developers, she'll want to know what can be improved."

"How is Aunt Berny?" Claire wondered. Their Aunt has been busy working on this project involving the VR game, so she hasn't been able to stop by lately.

Your aunt will be over this weekend. She's excited to hear how you kids like her creation," Pamela revealed. She is happy her sister will be coming over to visit. Berenice and Pamela were very close sisters, just like the Arcas siblings were. Berenice was the younger sister by 5 years, much like the twins were with Blakely. Pamela often doted on her. It didn't help that because Berenice was a scatterbrain outside of work, Pamela often worried about her little sister.

As the night drew on, the discussion shifted from individual roles to upcoming quests and strategies for their next session. Plans were made, tactics debated, and laughter shared. The living room was filled with the ambient glow of the lamps and the soft hum of conversation.

Soon, the siblings returned to their rooms to log back into the game. Blakely, Maven, and Iris had their first Quest to do.
