Jose opened the drawer of the medicine cabinet and took one pill from each of two boxes.
He dissolved one in water and swallowed it himself.
This was the real antipyretic.
Although he no longer had a fever, he still took one as a precaution. Unlike ordinary antipyretics, this one had the effect of maintaining a steady body temperature.
He held the other as he walked to the bed.
"Avie," he called to the girl who was a bit drowsy on the bed, "get up and take the antidote."
"Your Highness..." Avie opened her eyes, which were still clouded with a drunken haze.
She obediently sat up, leaning on Jose's shoulder, and dutifully swallowed the medicine.
After taking the water, she wrapped her arms around his waist and buried her head in his chest.
Jose stroked her shoulder gently.
The "antipyretic" he had tricked her with before had a very potent effect.
If she didn't take the antidote, she would likely keep demanding him until she collapsed from exhaustion.
