He Was Going To Reject Avril.

It was past eleven o'clock in the night, and the moon was out. It was a full bright moon, shimmering its illecebrous glowing intermittent light down on earth, most especially down in the flower garden of the sundown midnight pack house.

The guests were seated, watching the dance being performed by the females in the large flower garden decorated and designed by the best designers of the sundown midnight pack house along with the help of some members of the Mills pack, including Ariel.

The males were beating stacking drums, while the female dancers danced to the rhythm of the music playing out of the drums. 

Some parts of their face, like their cheeks, were covered with black paint and the top of their heads were covered with native american chief feather headdress. 

The tami crochet rag mini skirt and shirt they wore, fitted and swung along with their body and hips in a snakelike motion, as they danced.

The beads wrapped around their arms, legs and neck dangled and swung according to the movements of their body, following the sounds of music playing out of the drums, the males were beating.

Lamp sticks were lit around the whole arena, giving the whole place a beautiful scenery and the fire coming out of the lamp stick helped the moon in displaying sparkles of light around the whole place.

A cool gentle deep breeze swayed across the whole environment, scattering the petals of flowers sprayed on the floor of the flower garden all around the area. The flower garden was indeed a lovely sight to behold.

The mating ceremony would be performed culturally as it has been done over the past years, tonight.

The elderly pack members of the Mills pack and sundown midnight pack members, both male and female, were exchanging pleasantries, greeting and patting the backs of each other softly.

Johnson Mills was not left out.

Carter and his brother Cole, were beside their father Paul Graham, the former Alpha of the sundown midnight pack before Carter, helping him in welcoming the invited guests.

"Graham, my man!" Johnson Mills yelled, the instant his eyes caught Carter's father, Paul Graham who was still busy exchanging handshakes with the guests.

Paul Graham turned behind, searching for who called his name, The voice was quite familiar to him. And the moment he saw Johnson Mills, he excused himself from the guests and went over to meet his old friend.

"Johnson!" Paul Graham called and the two huge men engulfed themselves in a big bone-crushing old friend's hug. They broke the tight embrace but not without patting the backs of each other.

"It's really been a long time, Graham, where have you been?" Johnson Mills asked, letting out a big smile. He finally met his old friend.

"You know how it is" Paul Graham scratched the back of his head, searching for answers to give to his old time friend. "Work stuff" he smiled.

"And that is why my son Carter is incharge now, since he's Alpha" Carter revealed himself in between them from behind his father, when he heard his name.

"Yeah, I know" Johnson Mills let out a mild laugh and embraced Carter. They broke the embrace and Carter bowed his head as a sign of respect. 

"Why don't you two go and find something to do? I got something to discuss with Alpha Mills" Paul Graham mentioned to his two sons, as they nodded and left.

Carter and Cole moved a few steps from the two men and Carter stopped, when Cole held him back.

"Hey bro, what's up with you and Ariel?" Asked Cole over to Carter whose gaze was fixed on the ground and seemed to be counting his footsteps. 

Cole knew Carter was still dating Ariel before he traveled and now he came back for his elder brother's mating ceremony.

Avril was his mate and not Ariel. 

At the mention of Ariel's name, Carter raised his head. His gaze locked up on his younger brother's as he smiled which bemused Cole.

Why was his elder brother smiling when he asked him a question?.

"I love Ariel but I got mated to Avril" Carter said and Cole's brows lifted questionly. That wasn't the response he needed. Examining Carter's face, Cole knew Carter wasn't happy at all even with the smile plastered on his face.

They don't get to choose their mate, instead the moon goddess (Selene) chooses their mates for them. Which was kind of irritating for Cole. 

But Cole got lucky his own girlfriend Becky was gifted mate to him, if not he was going to reject whoever his mate was supposed to be, not minding the pain that was going to follow.

Cole would rather go through that pain, than to be mated to someone he doesn't love.

He reached for the top of Carter's shoulder and pressed it softly, "Sorry for that bro, but you could still reject Avril tonight. It is not too late" Cole smiled, looking Carter in the eyes, hoping for him to do the same. 

But the smile never came.

Carter touched Cole's arms on his shoulder, and whispered as if he didn't want anyone else to hear what he was going to say next. "Even if I do, Ariel doesn't love me anymore".

Cole's eyes widened at his brother's statement, and he shook his head in disbelief. Carter must be lying, the Ariel he knew could never stop loving his brother Carter, even if they weren't mates.

He has always seen them together, for multiple times and on different occasions. There was never a place he would see Carter without Ariel by his side when they were still dating.

"How sure are you, Carter?You never know until you reject Avril and go back to Ariel,'' Cole said, hoping for his words to enlighten his brother's mood.

"You don't understand, Cole," Carter turned and faced him. Their eyes met with each other directly but not equally due to the fact Carter was a little bit taller than Cole.

"I..I.." Carter tried speaking but the words wouldn't come, but he has to say it for his brother to know the truth. Cole only knows he wasn't dating Ariel anymore, but he didn't actually know the real reason why.

"I cheated on her, Cole, I cheated on Ariel with Avril" The words escaped from his lips by themselves. Cole was stunned and could swear, he saw a single tear fall from Carter's eyes when he dropped that statement.

Carter heaved a deep sigh of relief, as he forced his eyes shut and lifted his face up to the dark skies and brought them it down to his brother's, who was staring at him as if he saw a ghost.

He has been looking for someone to speak with, since after the breakup between him and Ariel but there was none. Their father wasn't always around and their mom was no more. His brother Cole traveled when the incident happened.

And now Cole was back, Carter was extremely happy, to have someone who was really by his side at least.

He was glad he said those words to Cole, because he felt like a heavy burden had been lifted off his chest.

"What?!" Cole's voice was raised, his eyes widened on hearing his brother's statement. He felt like he was stung by a bee, caused by what Carter told him.

Carter had to pinch Cole hard on his lap, for him to lower his voice and not attract unwanted attention around them.

Cole shook his head in dubiety and his hands grasped his mouth. Carter watched him and almost laughed if not for the sad state he was in. He was the one that cheated but the way his brother was overreacting, amused him.

"You cheated on Ariel with Avril?" Cole whispered, his hands still on his lips, preventing him from screaming. Carter must be joking. The Carter he knew would never cheat on Ariel, unless Carter changed when he was away.

"Yes I did, but it was a mistake" his head bowed.

"And of all people, it had to be Avril?, Ariel's twin?" Cole's hands left his mouth and rubbed his arms to send away the shivers spreading on his arms.

"How exactly did all this happen, were you both mates before all this happened?" Cole pressed on with his questions. He really missed a lot when he was away and he was going to uncover every single gist he missed when he was away.

"No, we weren't mates but Avril seduced me and we slept together for multiple times behind Ariel's back, before she was gifted my mate" Carter sighed and rubbed his temple.

"Couldn't you control your d**k?" Cole scolded him in a low tone, "And you f**ked two twins?" Cole gritted his teeth, he was mad at Carter for doing that and wanted to hit him, but refrain himself from doing so.

Carter was his elder brother, and he had no right to hit him. Even as close as they were, he wouldn't try such.

"Carter, you really are in deep shit" Cole whispered into his ears and sighed.

"I know Cole and I want to make it up to Ariel but she doesn't-" 

"Please, let us get ourselves fixed to a seat. The ceremony is about to begin" A deep sore voice announced from behind them, cutting him short of his statement as they both turned behind to check out who. 

"Ooh, fuck…me" Carter murmured indistinctly. 

Two things were on his mind now, first of all, to reject Avril and then kidnap Ariel and run away with her, far away from everything, both his pack.

His unsettled mind raced with many thoughts and finally came to a halt, when he decided he was going to reject Avril.
