While I would have liked to try out my new Eye prowess immediately, I didn't want to alert sensors to my presence, especially with the things that happened throughout the nights for the past 2 days, so I bid my time in my room for a second day.
I was patient and while meditating, time wasn't a bother to me. I was clearing my mind from any distractions, got creative new ideas as well as deepening my connection to space itself.
However I was slowly starting to get a bit restless, and even though I had only been in the village for no less than a few days, I didn't enjoy sneaking around. I liked my freedom and being constrained with how I moved and what I do wasn't to my liking.
When I came here, I was even thinking about staying for a prolonged amount of time, observing and copying techniques, however my enthusiasm for that has died down by now.
I gave the key back to the attendant downstairs and left the hotel early afternoon. I just strolled around, taking in the atmosphere of the village, doing nothing in particular.
Once it was dark outside, I went into an alleyway, making sure nobody was focusing on me and simply slipped in the ground. I was thinking of one last little theft for my stay and then I'd be gone from here for the foreseeable future.
My target this time was the academy. I at least wanted to get the three basic techniques that all the shinobi in Konoha had to learn before they became Genin.
Once I was under the school grounds, I kept my senses peeled on the different rooms inside, until I felt one that had a lot of books and some scrolls inside. I came out the ground and looked around for a bit.
I didn't even bother looking through most of the books. While they may have some information about the world, history, maths etc. I didn't care all that much. I did however take a book with general maps of the world.
I didn't have to search for long until I found the scrolls with the three basic techniques on it. They were plenty and it would probably go unnoticed that some were gone for quite a while. Not that I would even care about this.
Putting the book and the scrolls into my scroll of sealing, I left as quietly as I came.
After that I simply left the village through the ground, there wasn't a reason for me to leave through the gate. Once I was far away enough that the village couldn't be seen or sensed, I started flying again.
Feeling the wind flowing against my skin, while looking down on the earth as if I was above everything instantly made my mood quite a bit better.
I flew for a few hours, not bothered by the darkness one bit, until I reached a comfortable stretch of forest that didn't seem to be traversed that much.
It was finally time to see what happened to my Dōjutsu.
Once I let my chakra flow into my eyes, I could immediately tell the difference. Everything seemed a bit slower. The leaves dancing in the wind and the way my body moved when I swung my arm around, made me realise that I was perceiving the world much clearer than before.
I couldn't test the other things that changed, but I was sure my Dōjutsu simply incorporated the different things the Sharingan could do into itself.
I still hadn't had a name for it, but after considering it for a bit, I named it the Shinkagan.
The Eye of Evolution.
Quite fitting since it incorporated the devoured eye prowess into itself. The Otsutsuki also strife for evolution so I liked that name a lot.
I took out the three scrolls and read through them. The transformation, clone and body replacement technique.
After having read through them, I could immediately tell how I would never forget reading them. Not just the text, but how each and every stroke of the brush looked and how the scroll felt in my hands.
I was really happy with this, eidetic memory can be powerful in itself and I was glad that I had it now.
I first tried the transformation technique. Did the required handseals and imagined myself with black skin and hair. It worked right away, and I started inspecting myself.
It felt as if there was a thin film of chakra covering my skin and hair which made my appearance change.
Happy with the result, but noting that I needed to practice it a few times more to also be able to transform into people with more detail as well as objects, I went onto the next one.
I also didn't have any trouble with the clone technique. I didn't think I would use it a lot, if ever, but it was good to know how it worked.
I was very interested in the body replacement technique and how it worked. The scroll only described how to perform it, but I wanted to know more.
Sensing a broken log around me, I did the seals, focused on the log and in but a second a thin strand of chakra connected me to that log, switching places with me almost instantly.
Since I had quite the connection with space already, I quickly figured out how it worked. It essentially makes people switch space with the object it's connected to through chakra.
I was perplexed by that however. How can it be that a technique incorporating space was a basic one and how couldn't the shinobi realise the immense potential it held. Alas, once a society is already so stuck in their ways of thinking its hard for normal people to be innovative.
I saw a lot of opportunities for my own training of manipulating space and praticed for the whole rest of the night, until I got quite proficient at it.
Once it was daytime again, I started thinking about what I was going to do moving forward. I was plenty strong already and didn't need to truly fear anyone at this moment. However I didn't have any fighting experience as well as no spectacular jutsu.
I read through the maps I had and came to the decision that traveling around would be my best choice of action.
While travelling I could observe skirmishes between shinobi, memorising their jutsu, as well as work part-time as a bounty hunter to gain more experience fighting.
Since I was in the Land of Fire at the moment, I decided to take things slow, traveling further north west to visit the Land of Earth next.
With this I flew off into the distance, starting my journey.
