Chapter 11: Godfather

" Why?!", Emma said.

"Nayeon unnie," Nayeon turned back and looked at Emma with a shocked face.

"Why have you been lying to me this entire time? You've been giving me hope this entire time. Why did you lie to me? You could have just told me the truth from the get go.

I've been holding my tears and have been holding back my emotions because I thought I'll see my grandma soon. Now it turns out that it was all lies. What did you get from l lying to me?

How's it possible that no one can get in contact with my grandmother, I've already given you all the details about my family. Why is it that you can not even get in contact with my godfather?"

Silence. You could hear a pin drop, if one did.

"Nayeon unnie, I heard everything." Emma bluffing at this point. She only heard a few things here and there and pieced things together but Nayeon didn't know that, so she took her advantage of it.

Emma was thinking about not ever seeing his grand her grandmother again, and she would do anything to go back home even if it's lying. Fake it till you make it.

"If you can't send me back, then take me to the airport, buy me a ticket to Johannesburg. I'll board on my own and when I get to O.R Tambo International Airport I'll get home on my own. Simple as that.

You don't need to do much. I can get there quick quick, it's not like I can get lost. I know where my home is and how to get there. So,why would you allow me to go?"

"Emma is not as simple as that. We cannot let you go on your own, it's quite impossible. We are responsible for you, so we have to wait for people to come and get you, " Nayeon said.

"But no one is coming though, no one wants to come and get me. This is what you were saying right? That's what you and Mr Min we're discussing right now. That no one wants to come.

Why is my country abandoning me? Why are they abandoning my parents? After all my parents says done for them. Even this country self invited my parents perform here in the first place but why can't you take responsibility. After all you've gotten what you wanted from them. It was your people who killed my parents, it's that incompetent policeman who allowed and criminal steal his gun and shoot my parents.

Come to think about it no one has said anything about the case, no one has taken responsibility or apologized for what happened. Your are now going abandoning them when they need you that most!!"

Emma was balling at this point. She had to stop talking as she was hyperventilating. It was only when she calmed down that she continued.

"All I want is for my parents to be buried in our ancestral home, is that too much to ask for." "When you call the company, what did they say?"

"Well. Emma, we talked to the man you mentioned, and it is your godfather, Mr Moloi... Well, he said... how do I say this... he said-"

"He said what? What did my godfather say.." Emma interrupted her.

"Emma, I'll be blunt with you. He said that he doesn't know you and doesn't know your family. You're not his goddaughter, and we shouldn't bother him anymore".

"Ehhh, he said what?"
