The air was thick with tension.

Kaelan stood alone in the middle of the deserted pub, his sharp eyes fixated on the moving shadow slowly approaching from the dark corridor.

Its silhouette vaguely resembled that of a man, but with a few not-so-slight differences… Most apparent of all- it had no arms, at least not those of the conventional sense, no.

"This is going to be trouble," Kaelan murmured quietly.

He could already tell, not just from the terrifying aura the beast emanated, but also, the putrid stench it spread to every corner of the room right from the moment it made its dramatic appearance.

'Nothing simple can smell this bad and survive.'

As for where Isolde and the mysterious beautiful woman had gone, well, Kaelan figured that while he could not risk teleporting them to a safe-enough location, especially not with the crippling dent that would create in his energy pool, he also couldn't risk them staying here, either.
