1.8 My Companion For Life (2)

A bright white light emitted from the summoning circle. The light slowly faded from white to blue as blue coloured smoke circled around Blake, rising up from the ground and compressing itself in front of the man-turned-child.

Soon the smoke dissipated and a blue oval marble looking rock appeared. Confused, Blake reached his hand to touch it and as soon as his fingers grazed the rock, it cracked. The cracks in the blue rock grew more and more until a piece of it fell off, revealing a yellow eye staring right back into Blake's similar coloured eyes.

That's when Blake realized this was an egg.

The egg then continued to crack as more and more pieces began to fall. And in front of Blake now, was a lizard looking creature, covered in dark blue scales, similar in colour to Blake's hair. It uncurled it's long tail and stared at Blake.

"Hello," Blake greeted the creature. The creature's pupils dilated into slits before expanding into little black beads, staring at Blake.

"Coo~" the creature's mouth moved as small bat-like wings sprouted from behind it.

"Congratulations, Blake. Your familiar is a dragon. You should name them to seal the contract," The pope said with a smile, walking up to Blake and gently taking the dagger away from him.

Blake stared at the dragon for a period of time before holding out his hand, in which the dragon leaned its pointy head towards and snuggled up to the small palm.

"Tsuki," Blake called out, watching as the dragon stared at Blake before it smiled, shaping its eyes into little crescents.

"Coo~" it sounded, cutely, as a dim light appeared on Blake's palm. And soon, the light dissipated and a tattoo-like mark appeared on where the light emitted.

Blake giggled as the dragon, now named Tsuki, flew next to Blake and landed right on the boy's shoulder. Blake turned to the duke and duchess, seeing both surprise on their faces. One, had the face of a proud parent, while the other, had the face of a child who had their candy stolen from them, anger.

You might've guess which was which.

"Wow! Brother, you got a dragon!" Flora exclaimed, excitedly, as she rushed towards Blake with a wide smile.

Blake hummed, smiling as he held up the wounded hand of his up to the dragon, in which Tsuki let out a puff of smoke from his nose, enveloping said hand as Blake felt a slight tingling sensation. The smoke then slowly disappeared. As he looked at his hand, it showed no signs of a wound, no scar no trauma, nothing.

Blake looked at Tsuki, astonished as he giggled and pet the little dragon's head, saying a small 'thank you' in which the dragon replied with a cute purr.

Blake then turned to his father, the duke, as the duke pat his head lovingly, saying a few words of praise before turning to his wife with a smirk. The duchess scowled and huffed before turning and walking away. It was as if a child was throwing a tantrum in Blake's eyes. Which, in all honesty, was quite funny.

It's been a few days since the familiar summoning. Today, was a normal day of Blake reading books and playing outside with Flora, and also avoiding the obvious so-called 'evil' schemes of Flora's birth mother, the duchess also known as Cruella von Nix. But, at the dinner table, as everyone sat down, enjoying the food, the duke spoke up.

"I'll be leaving for the border tomorrow," he said, his overpowering voice echoes through the silent dining room.

"…what for?" Cruella asked, placing her knife and fork down, looking at her husband with a confused look on her face.

"Rogue magical beasts are attacking the border, and the count there asked for help from the imperial palace. As one of the leading foundations of the empire and one of the few families that has their personal knight brigade, I was tasked by the emperor to be dispatched there and clean up as fast as possible."

"… I understand, father. Do return safely," Blake said, unfazed as the duke looked at Blake with pride.

'Yes, that's my boy. Already a great example of how a duke should act,' the duke thought, a smug smile etched onto his face.

Blake: Yes, go, go. No one can interrupt my plan on escaping now! MWAHAHAHA!!!
