The Mayor

The bright sun towered above Saitama's head as he reached a tall building, its exterior embellished with gleaming blue glass panels. The building stood out from the rest as it was built in a weird shape that made it look like a trapezium.

"That's our city headquarters," Marcus stated, his gaze fixed on the tall building. He got off the bike and slowly opened the entrance doors. "Mr. Noirs, I have brought the guest."

The inside was huge and fancy. In the futuristic city, the headquarters had a medieval feel because it had chandeliers on the walls instead of modern lights. It was well-furnished, had a giant reception area, and was bustling with people, especially employees.

A skinny, middle-aged man in his forties rushed through the bustling hallway, narrowly avoiding a collision with one of the employees.

"Is this the man we've been expecting?" He regained his balance on one foot.

Saitama watched the man, impressed by his ability to magically regain balance without falling.

"Yes," Marcus nodded. The middle-aged man instantly turned around and pointed towards a giant, lavish staircase. "He is waiting in his office."

Marcus walked to the staircase, and Saitama followed until they eventually reached a door with a sign stating, 'The Mayor's Office.' As Marcus bent forward to knock on the door, it automatically opened.

"Come in, Marcus," An intimidating high-pitched voice ordered. Marcus entered the office, closing the door. After a few moments, he reopened it, inviting Saitama to come in.

The mayor, a man in his sixties, stood near a table piled with papers. His hair was curly, his face filled with wrinkles, and he wore a traditional butler outfit.

"What is your name, mister?" he moved his hand forward.

"Saitama."

"I'm Sirvus, Mr. Saitama," He corrected his tie. "I hope you're well aware of why I had called you here."

Saitama glanced around and stared at the mayor with a straight face.

"Why was I called again?"

Noticing the silence, Marcus stepped forward. "It's to talk about the powerful thunderstrikes, right, Mister?"

Saitama nodded, and Marcus sighed, hiding his face from the mayor. The mayor was staring at Marcus in anger. "I think I just gave you a simple job, Marcus."

Marcus tried his best to avert his gaze, provoking Saitama to say something.

"Ehh..." Saitama glanced at the white roof. "Yesterday, I fought a strong wolf who looked obsessed with electricity."

The mayor turned around, searching through the pile of papers. "Did it mention something?"

Saitama squinted his eyes to remember every tiny bit of his memory. "The wolf talked too much."

The mayor sighed and politely asked, "Did it talk about anything important?"

Saitama scratched his head and looked towards Marcus, who was still looking away from the mayor. "It mentioned about being a disciple of someone."

The mayor instantly turned around and walked towards Saitama, resting his hands on his shoulder with an intimidating glare. "Did the wolf mention its master's name?"

Saitama slowly tilted his head and replied casually. "I don't remember the names of everyone I punch."

After a brief pause, the mayor started to laugh. "That's totally fine, but please try to remember."

Suddenly, Saitama's eyes took notice of a magnet in a pencil case kept on the table, making his memories jog. "I think... The name was Magnezone."

The mayor yelled. "Marcus! Was there any major figure with the name of Magnezone on our planet?"

Marcus panicked and began to search through the heap of files. The mayor fixed Marcus with an icy glare that seemed to carry a hint of menace. "Why the need for a search? This is just one of the reasons holding back your promotion."

He instantly glanced around at Saitama and politely requested. "This information is very crucial for our planet, so please."

Saitama closed his eyes and smashed his clenched fist on his palm. "It was Magneton, probably."

The mayor and Marcus froze instantly, their mouths agape. Their movements were so restricted that it seemed as though they had suffered a heart attack.

"N-No way..." The mayor stammered, slowly retreating until he hit the table behind him. "So the legends were true..."

Saitama stood confused, clueless about the situation. The mayor looked at Saitama and started explaining. "Today is the night of the blue moon that happens once in a century."

He further added as he picked up a pen from the case, "On this day, Magneton comes to visit Kerbes. The wolf you killed was likely preparing for the same."

He sighed and continued. "Now, the wolf is gone, and I don't know what Magneton will do to us."

"Oh!" Saitama instantly recollected the memories of Magneton, whom he remembered as the man who trampled on his 90% potato sale. "I killed that potato thief."

The mayor and Marcus froze yet again, their mouths wide open. Their eyes looked like their souls had just left their bodies. Their faces were like a dog had pissed on them, comparing them to a standing pole.

After a few moments of utter silence, the pen and the mayor subconsciously lost balance, falling onto the ground.

"A-am I d-dreaming..." The mayor slowly moved his lips. "This can't be real..."

Saitama shrugged and replied. "It's true."

Suddenly, the mayor stood up and turned serious. "Not even surprises can surprise me now."

Marcus had lost consciousness and was on the ground.

"This boy..." The mayor looked at Marcus, shaking his head. "Anyways, that was only one part of the legends."

A book magically appeared in his hands. He opened it to a bookmarked page and read out loud.

"When the moon shines in bright blue colors, an enormous amount of magic energy will fall upon the planet, and a devastating disaster will encircle the planet."

He cleared his throat, and glanced at Saitama. "Magneton came on this day and helped us escape and defeat the disaster, but well..."

Saitama averted his gaze, trying to escape the blame.

"Uff..." The mayor emphasized. "The main issue is with Arplesis."
