Who are you ?

Grey sighed in relief after he heard the cry of her child. But the pain in her heart did not go away. The reason was simple.

"How-how is Gem ?" After holding her child, Grey asked the woman. She did not know her. Nor she understood what was she talking about the black cat. But one thing was sure. Gem knew the woman.

"The internal bleeding is not stoping. Shit ! He is poisoned !"

Maki immediately took out the testing kit on the forest floor to figure out what kind of poison it was. After stopping the bleeding of his brother, she attended Grey. It was the same situation like the Rocks family all over again. No matter how she looked at it, Gem's condition was worsening with every passing second. His vitality was dropping rapidly. Even though the vitality of the general population is higher than the people on the earth and the vitality of Monkey D family is exceptionally high, but the poison they have used was a very potent one. It was not untreatable but making the antidote while attending Gem at the same time was impossible.

She had no idea that they would have poisoned the bullets.

Maki took out a boost drugs in order to increase the vitality of Gem. It will reduce his life span. But the temporary boost will give her enough time to prepare the antidote.

After getting the boost drugs, Gem's vitality increased rapidly. It was not something that could cure him but it increased his regenerative speed and allowed him to recover quickly from his injuries. In the mean time, Maki prepared the antidote after extracting the poison from the bullet. She was really thankful to Kureha for teaching her the technique to prepare a make shift antidote from the poison itself that will temporarily stop the poison from acting. It was not easy as it took her half an hour how to prepare the antidote. During this time she also moved grey and the new born Garp to her ship along with Gem.

"What kind of poison did you use !" Maki has cut open the internal organs of the CP agents while keeping them alive. When she tried to make a temporary antidote, she failed. Not because of her poor kills. But because the poison was so potent that reverse engineering it was impossible.

The CP agents were loyal to the world government. But they were not the part of CP 9 or CP 0. So they didn't have high torture tolerance.

"We don't know... A Celestial Dragon had sent the poison to kill the targets. He wanted them to feel the same pain, he has felt because of them. We were just following orders."

"Muhahaha !" Maki laughed brokenly. Again and again no matter what it is, the celestial Dragons are in the root of the problem once again !

The boost drugs were keeping gem alive but there was no guarantee that after it's effects wears down, Maki could save him.

In the critical moment, Maki took a hard choice choice. She took Grey, Gem and Garp and went directly to the drum Island. In full speed, they reached in the drum Island in 4 hours. Now Kureha was her only hope. Thankfully for the first time Robert became actually useful and helped the unconscious Grey.

One after another four boost drugs shorts were given to Gem. After all even with their combining effort, it took Maki and Kureha two days to prepare the antidote.

It greatly reduced the lifespan of Gem. But it was at least better than him dying even without seeing the face of his son.

"I will leave your family alone to have your family talk." Kureha patted Maki on her back. Taking a sake bottle, she went outside.

"So.... You should explain some things to me. I am completely clueless here. Who exactly are you ?" Grey said sighing. She was holding Garp in her arms.

"Do you know about his full name ?" Maki asked her instead.

"Monkey D Gem." Grey answered .

"So he told you ?

*Sigh* my name is Monkey D Maki.

Since you were a Marine captain, I guess you must have been familiar with the name Maki ?"

Maki asked her.

Grey looked confused at first. But then she recalled something.

"Are you talking about the mythical criminal with the highest bounty. The man who killed a celestial dragon ?"

"Mythical criminal ? Huh ? Is that how the people now know me ?

I guess you can call me that. I am the elder sister of this brat." Maki looked at the sleeping form of Gem.

Grey looked horrified after she heard that.

"Pirates are evil ? The Marines are righteous ? These terms have always changed throughout the course of history. Kids who have never seen peace and kids who have never seen war have different values. Those who stand at the top determine what's wrong and what's right. It is all about the winner. Whoever wins becomes justice. 800 years ago, the 20 Kingdom won the war. That's why they rule the world however they please. You were a marine captain. Were you not. Then you should have some basic idea about how the world works. I think if pirates are scum then the celestial Dragons are worst than scum. And the marines or nothing more than their lap dogs. But will it matter. It will only if I win against the entire world.

Now you should have a general idea about what kind of person I am. You are already in very much trouble just because you are related to me. And you should understand why I stay away from my family." Maki shamelessly stole the quote of Doflamingo, added some spices to it and delivered the speech. Maki knew the best way to protect them was to let them know about the actual shit they are in, without revealing them the information that will make them the direct target of the world government. Not to mention she was still doubtful of Grey because of her status as the ex-marine captain.

Grey was visibly stunned after learning about the truth. Sure, she knew that The Marine were not saints. But she used to think that at least pirates are worse. But after listening the sensible speech of Maki, she needed time to process all the information.

But regardless of what has happened, one thing was sure. Her retirement won't be peaceful anymore.
