One Magic To Rule Them All

Some say that magic is an abomination. Some treat it as a tool... And others think of it as a gift. But I believe magic is alive and if one truly sees it as such... The possibilities will be limitless. Once upon a time, a young man woke up in another body in another world as another person. It has been told countless times, the same story over and over. "Transmigration. A new beginning. What many desire. However, we fail to see that what we truly want is not those things, it is to be free with infinite possibilities in front of us. Because our possibilities have been chained by the world we live in, Earth; Or rather, the people in our world..." Damon looked at the glowing sphere in his hand and smiled in excitement, "But with this... This new chance... I am free, an eternal adventure in front of me filled with wonders and possibilities." Damon's adventure, from man to king, from Fairy Tail to Marvel. One Magic To Rule Them All.

Damon left the guild and walked to the forest, he was a bit annoyed by the glare of the sun accompanied by the chill wind, and the complaints of his stomach. He stopped near a tree and looked it up and down, 'Since I am poor at the moment, this will do. I have to buy something made out of iron or silver later... I need a lot of money for my magic to work at its best but that's for later.'

He had borrowed a simple axe from a random guild member that he didn't know, the other party seemed to know him, however; He used the axe to chop off a big branch from the tree.

He looked at the branch with satisfaction, "This will do for now," he muttered as he took it back to his house. He soon reached there in a very good mood.

His house was very simple, there was a chair in the middle of the hall on the 1st floor, he sat on it and put everything beside him; In front of him was a table and further ahead was the kitchen. 2 chairs were beside him, a couch near a window to his back; to his left was the doorway to the door that led outside the house and the staircase to the 2nd floor; To his right was a bookshelf with another couch. It was a cozy house with candles and Lacrima-using sources of lights around. Some lanterns were visible hanging from the house outside but they weren't lit.

The 2nd floor was composed of a master bedroom and a guest bedroom with a big balcony and a big empty room he had no idea what to do with. The 3rd floor was the attic and some spiders and old items he had no use for were there, It was some sort of storage place for the building... He had thoroughly toured the house before.

He picked up a simple knife and began working on the wood, putting everything on the table.

At first, he used the axe to chop it off into several smaller pieces, he particularly focused on two pieces a bit bigger than his wrists. Thankfully, He had a very strong body, 'Everyone in this world seems to be stronger than adults on earth, wizards are exceptionally more durable with a very strong constitution. Why though? Doesn't matter, a magical world with its own rules...' He thought as he worked.

He got rid of distracting thoughts and focused only on his work. He swapped between the knife and axe as he worked on the wooden pieces.

Gradually, two crude bracelets made from wood took form.

He then chopped them up and put on a simple lock there to secure them on his wrists if he wanted. He smiled as he looked at the result of his 5-hour work, "It looks very ugly, almost something a prisoner would wear; But, I have plans for it."

He began using the knife to carve something on the wooden bracelets, from close by, they looked like symbols and letters that resembled runes. 'If the carvings are damaged in battle, they will deactivate so it's better to be on the interior rather than the exterior of the item.'

'My magic is a form of Enchantment, it has limitations compared to the real thing but there are also advantages the original doesn't have. One of the limitations is on magic circles and rune language that is needed to be implemented on an item so that it can be used as a medium for me to enchant myself or the item itself for some function... like a weapon. I spent a month learning the required things to make some basic stuff... And here it is.' He thought as he remembered the past months of reading. (The 4th Limitation in the past chapter is explored more thoroughly here.)

'Thank god I have a rather good memory... Ethernano is really weird, It can be manipulated with certain things such as runes and symbols and then in some cases, just the spirit and intellect of a wizard; Holder, and Caster... Wait! Doesn't that make my magic Ethernano manipulation? Ether magic... Nah, It's an alternate form of Enchantment... There, Almost finished...' He put the knife aside as he inspected the carvings. (By symbols he means magic circles and etc.)

He nodded to himself as he put them in front of him, the cravings were on the interior of the 2 items and looked identical. He pointed his palms at each item.

'My magic is part Holder and part Caster I guess. I can use my will and spirit to simply cast a spell on something and change it with great limits but with added preparations and time which remove many said limits, I can create wonderful things that only activate with my magic signature, and then I can use them similar to holder magic in battle...' He realized these points as he focused his magic power on the items.

He imagined the items amplifying his durability and strength as much as possible with his current magic power, 'It is unfortunate that I still have to use some magic power to activate them and keep them that way, well, everything has a price. Since they will function as long as the carvings are there, the price is that they won't always be active, I have to kickstart them and provide magic power to fuel them.'

'The name of my magic should be...' Something naturally came to his mind.

"Alter Enchant, Durastren, level 1." He said casually naming it. He felt his magic power deplete at a rapid pace. He looked with anticipation as the carvings glowed a mysterious orange color then everything returned to normal.

He smiled in excitement and ignored the tired feeling he got due to his magic power that had depleted rapidly to almost zero. He picked the wooden bracelets and put them on his wrists and locked them.

They felt a little uncomfortable on his skin, especially with the carvings.

He ignored that of course and only focused on what remained of his magic.

He willed it to flow to the items and the carvings lit up which was barely visible since they were in the interior; He suddenly felt his body became warm, He felt strength flow into his body as a very small amount of magic power left his body and flowed to the bracelets.

'Wow... This feeling is great. There is an adrenaline rush and my body is filled with strength. It's almost like I am on some sort of high... I will get addicted real soon at this rate. Amazing!' He thought as he looked at his creation with wonder then turned his gaze to his left. 'Time to test a little...'

He slowly grabbed onto the nearby chair and lifted it up, 'It weighs like nothing! As if It's made of air! The rate that my magic reserve is being depleted is also very good, at full, I should be able to keep using these 2 for an hour or two. They can't be used by anyone other than me but if I made one that worked for others, the amount of magic required would exponentially increase since it was created with my Alter Enchant, It works best and is most efficient for me.'

He stood up very slowly, afraid of destroying the house, and lifted the table then laughed in joy.

"Yes, In time, I will be able to create so many cool things..." He said aloud in joy then deactivated the items since his magic power was running dangerously low which caused him to feel extremely tired.

He quickly collapsed on the bed, his mind was busy with analyzing his magic despite his body screaming for sleep, 'The magic power from the items boosts my muscle power, my metabolism to support it, strengthens my bones and skin thus I gain enhanced strength and durability. It compensates for whatever is missing with Ethernano. I will add regeneration and speed later when I get a better bracelet, this one can't support more...'

He slowly ate the last piece of meat he had available in his house, it was the last piece of food he had, he was going to starve if he didn't make money...

He chewed on it and thought, 'The item itself seems to be too important, The better it is crafted from better materials, the greater things it can support and more magic power can be used on it. These 2 should only be able to increase my strength by 3-5 times based on what I felt. I will need to figure out to somehow Enchant an outfit with a few other accessories and items on my body for various self-enchants; Then I should focus on weapons...'

He finished the meat yet he still felt hungry and he knew he had nothing else to eat... He sighed, 'Fuck... Okay, Tomorrow I will find a good outfit and enchant it for extra defense then I will go on a job from the guild... I need money... Lots of money...'

He slowly slept and dreamt about wearing godly armor and using terrifying weapons as he swam in seas of food and money...
