One Last Merchant

Magic is not real. Monster that defy logics should not exist. Yet, I cannot refute what is before my very eyes. What my mangled body has told me through painful experiences. What my dying mind has comprehended with my last willpower. The world that I have once lived in changed abruptly one day, and the new era dawned for the human race. It is done by the hands of those who are known as Rulers. They call it mercy, but I know it is a game to them. If they truly wish to help the human race, then there surely a better way than sacrificing billions to uplift the selected few. The Zoning Events was set in stone, and the dimensional barrier collapses, allowing the monsters that we could never hope to defeat with our current technology to enter our universe. Allowing horrifying worlds and landscapes to merge with our own. And through blood, sweat, and fear, we understand that our science cannot truly surpass the natural law of the universe. Only through magic, the human race might survive. Only through magic, a better future can be reached. Everything has its price, and no price is too great for the second chance. This is the story of the last Merchant. One Last Merchant. *** Disclaimer: This story contains graphical sex scenes and depictions of torture! Please enjoy! Preparing for the End

"And how do you know that?" Alice speaks for everyone.

"Would you believe me if I say I have seen the future?" I answer her question with one of my own. "If you do not, then it doesn't matter whatever I say, as you will not believe me anyway, and it is a waste of time and energy trying to convince you. Better to spend those time and energy on doing something more productive. Like figuring out how to survive."

"I… believe you," Alice eventually responses. "I don't know why but you seems to be so sure."

"Me too, Zander. You're weird all morning. Weirder than normal," Alex adds. Harry and the others say something similar since I look so damn sure.

"Then you are all crazy. I would not believe me, but hey, thanks for the assurance," I tell them all with a chuckle before entering the cafeteria, finding it is crowded with people.

It seems like most people have the same idea, as the cafeteria is stocked with all the essentials. Foods. Waters. Those things.

Many people are on the phone, trying to call everybody to confirm what they are seeing.

"You guys! Get the fuck inside!" one of the teachers shouts at the students who are still outside in the yard, watching the ominous fogs creeping towards the school. "Have you never seen the Mist before?"

The Mist is a movie based on a book by Stephen King, and it is a good analogy. Monsters are not really hiding in the fogs, however. They are already here, as I can see some people coughing. They must have breath in too much of the fogs, and their body is breaking down at the cellular level.

"There are just too many people here," I comment and head towards the kitchen to find a weapon. A butcher knife is a good weapon. "Alex. Where did you hide the gun from before?"

Only Alex follows me into the kitchen. The others are too busy watching the commotion. Oh… Alice is here as well. She might be useful if she obtained the same Class as before. That is unlikely with all the changes.

"In the locker. Not crazy enough to carry a piece on me," Alex answers while watching me ransacking the kitchen. "This is kind of crazy, but what's the future like?"

"Gloom and doom. You're already dead, so I don't know whether you'll get to hooked up with anyone. So sorry about that. Sort of my fault that you died though," I answer. "Make yourself a melee weapon since we will be doing a lot of chopping up."

Alex does while Alice has her reservation.

"What… about me?"

"Same answer," I tell her, as a search for things to craft an incendiary grenade or bomb. Fire is one of best thing to use against undead monsters. It is also fairly effective against most monsters. Honestly, if all fails, bigger explosions seem to do the trick. "And no, we never got together even though I know you have a crush on me."

Alice widens her eyes. "What? What? I don't have a crush on you!"

"Do you have a butterfly tattoo on your left cheek?" I question, and Alice runs off in embarrassment.

I hope that you enjoy the chapter.
