The First Day

"What do you mean?!" Inkgrit exclaimed with an irritated expression. She didn't understand Aizen's train of thought at all.

What had happened solidified her impression of Aizen; she believed that the boy was impolite and presumptuous, a type that would not get along with her.

Meanwhile, Aizen paid no heed to Inkgrit's disdainful stare. He was aware that killing Inkgrit would not solve the problem unless he stopped the Brotherhood of Spectre.

He couldn't get rid of the only clue to the arms dealer. So, he softened his heart for now.

"Arman Malajorg isn't your average bully. As long as you bear his beatings, he won't bother you the next time around. To him, weaklings are useless people and don't deserve his time.

"It's a different story with people who interfered with his business and challenged him in front of the crowd. Arman would surely engrave that person's name and face and would continue to disturb them until they fell to their knees before him.

"Arman is arrogant and has high self-esteem. He is more challenged by children his age who dare to contradict him because it stimulates his superiority complex over weak people like me.

"In this case, you are what I mean. Be careful. Arman will start bothering you from now on."

"Don't talk nonsense!" Inkgrit denied.

Aizen blinked his eyes and sighed. He understood why Inkgrit said that.

The true nature of Arman and his friends had not yet been known to many people at this time. So, numerous thought they enjoyed oppressing the weak and the poor. However, they were not that kind of bullies.

In the previous life, Arman's feud with the fourth prince of the Aslan Empire happened later. He was displeased that the prince was interfering in his affairs, and he relented because he knew he was no match for a high noble.

And yet, he dared to hold grudges while plotting revenge behind the curtain because he couldn't openly teach the fourth prince a lesson in public.

In the end, he managed to frame the fourth prince, resulting in an imperial edict from the emperor that barred his son from studying at Raven Academy any longer as a punishment.

Just to be expelled, the emperor needed to issue a ruling. One could see how enraged the emperor was at the son's mistake. It was a disgrace and a stain on the history of the imperial family.

"It's up to you; the important thing is that I warned you," Aizen replied, brushing off the dust on his clothes.

"You idiot! If I didn't step up and help you, you'd be battered by now." Inkgrit responded in an annoyed tone.

"But, I won't die. Even if a bone is broken, they will compensate me even a little. As I said, a weakling like me doesn't enter their eyes.

"Besides, the infirmary here is capable of healing people who are heavily injured. So, your actions aren't really necessary."

"Tch! You said it as if you had taken it all into account. How did you know Arman was a person like that? Just admit that you were wrong!"

Aizen shrugged his shoulders. "That was all within my calculations. Therefore, I grabbed him and accepted the beating in a position that would take the least pain." He said while pointing to Milo.

"Me?" Milo replied, who was suddenly dragged into the conversation while pointing at his face.

Now, Inkgrit realized that the cause of the beating earlier was Milo. But she still felt innocent because she believed that her action was helpful.

Aizen then chimed in. "Helping is good. But if done carelessly, it will bring misfortune instead."

"Whatever!" Inkgrit grumbled as she turned and entered the school grounds. "You don't need to think much to help others; I wasn't in the wrong here!"

Aizen also stared at Inkgrit's back, which was slowly moving away from him. He bothered to speak at length like that because he knew he should be grateful even if the deed was unnecessary.

"Watching you two quarrel, I feel like I saw a dog and a cat growling at each other," Milo interjected after swallowing hard, seeing Inkgrit's demeanor.

Aizen narrowed his eyes and shot Milo a glare. "So, who's the dog and the cat?"

"Hahaha! Of course, you are the cat, and that girl is the dog. Are you deaf? Her voice is louder and clearer than yours."

"I will tell that girl that you compare her to a dog." Aizen teased and stepped onto the school grounds to get his class placement.

Milo's eyes widened, and he broke out in cold sweat. He was a person who was afraid of a girl like Inkgrit. A bold and talkative character. He then trotted over to Aizen.

"Hey, Aizen, don't joke around like that. You just helped me, and now you want to let me suffer? You can't be so indecisive. We're friends, and we have to look after each other's backs!

"Hey! Wait, don't leave me! Let's go together!"

It marked Aizen and Milo's first day at Raven Academy. They saw the place and admired the splendid surroundings as a whole.

The school had four buildings arranged in an 'L' shape. Each building was separated from the others, creating four distinct wings that all connected at the center. The design allowed for plenty of natural light and open spaces, as well as access to outdoor areas. The buildings have plenty of classrooms, libraries, labs, and other facilities to offer a complete educational experience.

Not long after, Aizen and Milo finally got their class assignment. They were in Class 10 of the first year, the last class, with 49 students.

When Aizen entered the class, he noticed that the composition of the students was almost the same as in his previous life. The only difference was that he was in Class 10 rather than Class 1.

Thinking about it, the initial beating did not happen in his previous life either, as he and Milo left for school early and avoided running into Arman and his friends, even though they would be in the same class afterward.

He also never spoke to the engineer, Inkgrit, either.

'So like that. Every decision I make will change history. I know I have to be careful. But, I hope only trivial incidents alter, not those major and important events. If not, I will lose one of my advantages.

'No! It doesn't matter if history changes as long as the Omni War era doesn't happen again! I will do what needs to be done, even if it means killing the engineer or flattening a nation!'

Aizen steeled his resolve and clenched his teeth. He then walked to an empty seat at the back together with Milo, passing Inkgrit, who was sitting at the very front, and Arman in the middle.

The classroom had a unique design with a series of stairs leading to the back of the room. It allowed students in the back row to have an unobstructed view of the front of the class. The stairs also provide a unique and attractive aesthetic to the room. With that design, all students could see, hear, and participate in discussions wherever they sat.

Meanwhile, Aizen was intently observing the class. He noticed several important students who would become the leaders of a new generation in the era of the Omni War in the future.

They would become famous generals, commanders, and mages that could dictate the direction of one or several wars.

"Hey, hey, Aizen. It seems what you said before was true. Look, Arman is like a hawk that stares at its prey intently. From the moment we entered, he and his friends' gazes never moved from that girl earlier. They didn't even take a glance at us who passed earlier." Suddenly, Milo told Aizen about what he had noticed since entering the room.

Aizen himself didn't really care. He already knew what Arman and his friends were like. In his previous life, he spent a year together with this classmate before transferring to the class of Knight Division.

Even though he was not the type to make friends easily, he knew more or less the personalities and characters of some of his classmates.

"You seem like the type who likes to talk a lot." Out of nowhere, a student asked Milo.

"Huh!? Who are you?" Milo shot back.

"Ah, I'm sorry. Let me first introduce myself. My name is Nathan. Nathan Argust."

"Eh, hello? My name is Milo. Milo Axzec."

However, before Milo spoke further with Nathan, Aizen quickly turned his face to the right side upon hearing the student's name.

'What the hell? Why is this brat in the same class as Arman and me? What's happening?'

Milo may be unfamiliar with the name Argust, but Aizen didn't.

It was the last name from the lineage of the imperial family that now ruled the Aslan Empire. In the capital, the surname was famous and influential since the name of their sovereign was Maximillian Argust.

But that did not apply to distant places such as the City of Mada. Thus, many people did not know the last name of the imperial family.

And Nathan Argust was the fourth prince of the empire. The son of the ruler of the Aslan Empire.
