𝐍𝐘𝐗 𝐖𝐀𝐒𝐍'𝐓 𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐑𝐘- she was 𝑙𝑖𝑣𝑖𝑑. She could shoot her father in the head right now with no regrets if someone would give her a 𝑓𝑢𝑐𝑘𝑖𝑛𝑔 gun. That man was her living nightmare that 𝑠ℎ𝑒 𝑐𝑜𝑢𝑙𝑑𝑛'𝑡 𝑔𝑒𝑡 𝑟𝑖𝑑 𝑜𝑓, no matter how much she 𝑡𝑟𝑖𝑒𝑑.

He always came back with unpleasant news in store for his 𝑑𝑒𝑎𝑟 daughter.

Nyx wasn't kidding when she said that she would make Astrid's life a 𝒍𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒉𝒆𝒍𝒍. But first, she was going to have a 𝑑𝑖𝑠𝑐𝑢𝑠𝑠𝑖𝑜𝑛 with the college board to know how the ℎ𝑒𝑙𝑙 did they allow such a 𝑝𝑟𝑒𝑝𝑜𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑜𝑢𝑠 thing from happening. Nyx was the 𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐞𝐧 of their college - the face everyone related to when they spoke of that college.

And now, they 𝑑𝑎𝑟𝑒 to do something against her.

She can ruin the reputation of that college with a 𝑠𝑛𝑎𝑝 𝑜𝑓 ℎ𝑒𝑟 𝑓𝑖𝑛𝑔𝑒𝑟𝑠. They should never underestimate the strength of the Queen. She bears the crown because she is worthy of it - because in the world filled with wolves she rose as their 𝒂𝒍𝒑𝒉𝒂.

𝑇ℎ𝑜𝑠𝑒 𝑠𝑡𝑢𝑝𝑖𝑑 𝑜𝑙𝑑 𝑚𝑒𝑛.

The house bell rang, but she made no efforts to get up - thankfully, Gracie was there to look into it. Nyx just wanted to be left alone with her dangerous thoughts. Her brain is as 𝑙𝑒𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑙 as it might come. Her emerald green nightgown with a v-neck to show some of her cleavage made her look like a hot, angry 𝐺𝑜𝑑𝑑𝑒𝑠𝑠 against the moonlight.

Her room had glass walls to give the perfect view of the surrounding city. Living on the thirty-third floor has its perks -it is like you are so high from the grasp of the selfish world around you. That you are above them all because you have worked so damn hard for it. Nyx relished the feeling because it made her feel like the Queen she is.

Nyx lived in one of the most 𝑙𝑎𝑣𝑖𝑠ℎ penthouses in the city. It was two-storeyed with three rooms on the bottom floor and two at the top. A swimming pool in the shape of an L surrounded the house and had glass boundaries so that she can have a view of the city while enjoying a nice dip. Her house was rather modern - with a glass fountain at one end and beautiful paintings adorning the walls.

She never overdid it - less is more, sometimes.

As she sat on her king-sized bed with black silk bedsheets that felt like clouds when she was sleeping, her door opened. Before she could realize what was happening, a weight landed on top of her and she squealed.

"Lessie!" her favorite voice greeted.

"When will you finally start acting like a grown man, 𝑍𝑖𝑜𝑛?" she teased him as she tried to free herself from his tight hug.

Noah Zion Black was Nyx's savior. Her beats of the heart. Her best friend, her crush, and the one she trusted in this cruel world.

Noah Zion Black was someone the girls loved to call a 𝒃𝒂𝒅 𝒃𝒐𝒚. With his perfect abs, tattoos, and eyes that could knock someone out, he screamed danger. But one look at him is like a dangerous trap in which you would be stuck 𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 - girls 𝑙𝑖𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑦 dropped their panties for him. His hazel eyes held 𝒅𝒂𝒓𝒌 𝒔𝒆𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒕𝒔 that only a few knew and his knuckles held cuts from the street fights he earned his living from.

He was a heartbreaker, just like Celeste and the duo ruled the college. They were each other's support - even though they were both surrounded by darkness, their darkness blended with each other and became the light in other's life.

Since the day she had met him at her mother's funeral, they have been together. He fulfilled his promise and refused to leave her alone. Nyx thought every day that he didn't deserve someone as cruel as her but he accepted her faults and who she is.

As she accepted him.

He wasn't rich - in fact, he lived in a shabby house, with no parents and belongings that were too old, yet, his determination and strength attracted Nyx to him. They were similar in many ways.

"Never, Lessie. Being a grown-up is overrated. I wish I could go back to my old self and tell him to stop dreaming that life will be better when you are older. Your age and looks might change, but fate doesn't. You can't 𝑒𝑠𝑐𝑎𝑝𝑒 what's coming for you, 𝒏𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓." he says with a deep sigh as he rolls off her to lie down next to her.

Nyx sighed and turned to face him. Her hands moved through his charcoal black hair, down to his neck to trace the Z that was inked on his neck. Although his first name was Noah, he liked being called Zion. He claimed that it was unique - but the privilege to call him that was granted only to a few, like Nyx.

"Life isn't a bed of roses, but we have to understand that the thorns that make us bleed are the ones that make us 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫. After we get pricked, we remember to wear a glove so that it doesn't happen again," she says.

"Hmm..." he says as he turns to her and then places his head on her lap. He takes her fingers and plays with them. Nyx continues to massage his hair.

"Was it that bad, han?" she finally asks him.

"The worst. The doctors say that the chances of him waking up are reducing every day. They claim that I should pull the plug... but I don't want to let go of my brother, yet. I know he is a fighter and ℎ𝑒 𝑤𝑜𝑢𝑙𝑑 𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑒 𝑏𝑎𝑐𝑘." Zion says.

Nyx nods and places a soft kiss on his forehead.

Zion lost his parents in a car accident four years ago. His little brother, Ryan was also in the car and suffered severe head injuries which put him in a coma. It's been long four years since then and he doesn't show a sign of waking up. That's why the doctor is asking to plug him out of his life support.

Zion refuses to believe that this is the end. He is sure that his brother will wake up.

"He will come back for you, I am sure. But you need to start caring for yourself too, Zion. When was the last time you had a good night's sleep?" she asks as she stares into his hazel eyes.

"I don't remember," he says.

Nyx sighs.

"Go change. I will have your shorts ready," she says as he pulls him up.

He groans but listens to her anyway. Nyx pushes him into the washroom so he could have a nice, warm bath and then searches for his spare towel and clothes in her almirah. Zion stays at her house a lot, mainly because of his nightmares. They somehow calm each other.

He was her perfect fit. And that's why she was hopelessly 𝒊𝒏 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 with him.

The Queen had only one 𝑤𝑒𝑎𝑘𝑛𝑒𝑠𝑠 and that was the 𝑠𝑡𝑢𝑛𝑛𝑖𝑛𝑔 knight in her life. He was all she ever wanted but for the sake of their friendship; she refused to tell him what she felt. They were, perhaps, too broken to heal each other.

Zion stepped out of the bathroom in his towel that hung low to his waist and the water droplets glistened on his bare chest. He was handsome as hell and Nyx resisted the urge to kiss the lights out of him.

"Here. Change into that and come to bed for some sleep," she tells him and then, lies down on her bed.

She counts the seconds until she feels the bed dip beside her and then, hands wrap around her stomach. Her breath hitches and her heart 𝑠𝑘𝑖𝑝𝑠 a beat. But she controls her emotions because she knew that at that moment, Zion needed his 𝑏𝑒𝑠𝑡 𝑓𝑟𝑖𝑒𝑛𝑑.

She snuggled into him, her head on his chest and hands around his torso.

"Please 𝒏𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 leave me, Lessie," he says.

"I won't. 𝑰 𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒅𝒊𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒏 𝒕𝒐 𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖," she replies back, softly.

And in each other's warmth, they found sleep.
