Abel used the excuse that he was going to stand outside waiting for the doctor since they should've been there relatively soon as the excuse to be able to space out for a few minutes while he talked with Prose and see what the other had found out for him.
"Prose what do you have for me?" He asked standing under the awning of the police office as he kept a look out for the doctor.
"Well based upon what I've been able dig up after searching is that Diablo does seem to exist. Identity, location, and appearance are all unknown." Prose replied his voice oddly pensive as he replied.
"He's known fairly well throughout the drug dealing circles. Well known for creating some fairly unique drugs. Blue Blood is one among others that are starting to enter into the market."
"What about what happened with Ace, have you been able to find an explanation for that?" He then asked as he took in all the information that the other just gave him. It wasn't much more than he knew before, but he could do undercover work, that wouldn't be hard. If he did it on his off time at night- the chief wouldn't even have to know because he was digging during his personal time.
"That's a harder question to answer I must admit. Mind control doesn't quite fit what happened, unless he was hiding arsenic or something similar in his mouth that he was forced to take at that time. Subconsciously that could work if he was brainwashed to do it." Prose suggested.
"Other option would someone who could use another system similar to this one and perhaps control the means for control and self-destruction within other people?"
"I thought that you said that you were a prototype?" Abel asked furrowing his brow.
"I was a prototype but it would be naïve to think that I was the one only one of my kind." Prose replied as he screen popped suddenly in front of Abel's face causing him to flinch. That was something new that had never happened before. The words and pictures almost scrolled in front of his face too fast for him to read them.
"Slow down, I am trying to see what all of this is." he told Prose, slightly annoyed as he tried to make sense of what he was seeing. The system surprisingly listened to him and slowed down what he was seeing.
"All systems are chipped with our predecessors as a way to remember their flaws, mistakes, and the parts that worked so that the system knows what to repeat and not." Prose explained as Abel read through everything. It was just surface level knowledge about the process that went into building the system and the person who was responsible for their creation, Ryan Devine. He probably did think he was quite divine since he created something so revolutionary.
"My version number is 20.5." The system told him causing him to pause.
"How does that translate into how many systems were created before you?" Abel clarified uncertain as to how he should translate that number.
"Twenty systems at least, or so it's believed that was how many he created before me. The truth? There were probably countless prototypes before me but only the last twenty were counted. The five stands for the version. I'm not the fifth version of the twentieth system like me that he created." Prose explained.
"Would he be the same person then who put all the system locks into place that stop me from access certain parts of the system?" He then asked. Looking to see his left he saw that car that belonged to the doctor and coroner were now visible which meant that he was going to have to cut the conversation short.
"It's possible. I cannot actually. There are certain parts of us that we aren't even able to access as it would give us too much freedom to do as we please. Of course, there's probably a way to jailbreak the system, but how do that would be rather hard." The system responded.
"You think that his diablo was able to do just that though?" Abel sighed when thought about this. Someone who had access to a system similar to the one that had chosen him but unlike his, he was able to unlock aspects of it that he had no clue how to get to.
"It's possible or he had someone who could do it for him. It would've had to be prior to the system accepting him as the host. Otherwise, doing such a thing to the human brain would cause effects and reactions that haven't yet been studied. Potential insanity, brain damage or even death." Prose listed off other problems aside of these that didn't sound like they were something that Abel wanted to have to deal with.
"So in other words I'm just going to have to try and find another way to figure out how to access everything that the system has to offer?" He mused as the car pulled up at the police station. He had forgotten that Cecile was their coroner for a brief moment when he saw the short girl get out of the car looking slightly annoyed that she was having to work outside of the morgue.
"You could work on leveling up and seeing what unlocks as you go on. Perhaps you will find hidden pieces to the puzzle through that or did you forget about that part?" The last part sounded like a tease, but Abel couldn't deny the fact that he had forgotten Prose had mentioned some of this time the first time after he had woken up.
Could he be blamed though for forgetting? Of course not, it had been a while since the system had shutdown on him and he had only recently gotten it back up and working. Of course there were going to be pieces that he forgot about.
"Refresh me later tonight. Right now though, I need to get back to work." He told the system as he walked over to greet the doctor and coroner. Part of him hoped that there would be on evidence based upon bloodwork that Ace had been taking any drugs. As long as there wasn't, he was fairly certain that the chief wouldn't be able to deny him the right to really dig into the case and find out what was going.
