Novel's Demon

I've died. However, it wasn't the end. Somehow... I woke up once again though not in the world I knew but in a world of a fantasy novel I've read in my first life. Unfortunately, I wasn't reborn as a Main Character, a supporting character or even an Extra... No! I reincarnated as a weak and useless Demon. However, this was not even the worst part... 'Why the fuck am I stuck in the Academy!?'

Demon Contractor

I felt my face twist into a sinister smile as my eyes befell on the creature that Luna was fighting.

Its face was very familiar...

It was 'that' Demon, the one that would wipe the entire elven race off the face of the earth in the future.

Of course, currently he had no such power, however, if not dealt with today, he would continue to grow in strength until he became an unstoppable force of destruction.

Looking at its form, I couldn't help but frown.

'He's already very strong.'

Although I might be wrong, I can tell he is already D- Rank, which makes him more than an entire two ranks stronger than me.

It was quite concerning because...

'He is way stronger than he was in the damned book...'

Cursing under my breath, I dreadfully clasped the hilt of my sword and inched closer to the wall, trying to hide my presence from the combatants.

For obvious reasons, I didn't want to be seen by both parties involved in the fight.

Ughhh...

As I pressed myself to the wall, I suddenly heard a groan that made me flinch.

Slowly, I turned my head in the direction of the sound, noticing a guy writhing on the ground in pain just a few feet away from me.

He had also seemed to notice me as his frantic eyes locked with mine.

"Note!"

A gurgled voice escaped his lips.

He seemed to be heavily mauled, his clothes torn and blood seeping from his wounds. However, I was not that naive. I could clearly see sinister intentions in his gaze.

I sneered internally:

'He's trying to bait me...'

Placing my hand on the hilt of my sword, I approached James with a fake worried expression on my face.

We both had the same idea:

Kill the other.

As I leaned closer to him, he suddenly grabbed my arm with surprising strength, his eyes narrowing with malice.

"You moron..."

He hissed while using his other hand to reach for a dagger. I could see the blade approaching my throat in slow motion, but before it could reach its target, I reacted.

Pluck...

A mouthful of blood spewed from James' mouth.

"Wha-?"

He choked on his words, his grip loosening as he looked down at the sword embedded in his chest.

"..."

Although he's stronger than me, he was already wounded and underestimated my abilities.

It was very easy for me to take advantage of that opening and end his life. All it took was a single thrust of my sword to end this pathetic 'demon contractor'.

I watched as James's body crumbled to the ground, his eyes becoming duller with each passing moment.

Aghhhh...

At the same time, a demonic scream pierced the air, making me flinch.

Turning my gaze toward the scream, I noticed the Demon grabbing his chest in agony, blood seeping from his mouth like a waterfall.

Ah...

It seems that James had signed a contract with him, which meant that upon his death, the Demon would also suffer considerable consequences. It is the price all the Demons have to pay for forming contracts with humans.

But this is good.

It means that I wouldn't need to interfere in the fight and help Luna since the D- Rank Demon was already on the brink of defeat.

'It's perfect...'

Sheathing my sword, I made sure that no one was looking and slid back into the shadows. My plan went surprisingly well. All I had to do now was make sure Luna survived and make sure that Alaric, our club's president, didn't try anything funny.

That bastard, although not a Demon Contractor like James, is definitely with them.

Thud... Thud...

Heavy sword strikes made her bones ache with each impact.

She wanted to retaliate, however, the continuous onslaught from the Demon left her with little opportunity to strike back. If not for the Ice Aura that covered her fists, she would have already been cut into shreds.

Unfortunately, even the six star Weapon Art couldn't prevent her hands from taking considerable damage.

Blood was dripping from her knuckles, forearms, and staining the ground beneath her.

"Prodigy of a century.... You are not as strong as I expected."

The Demon clicked his tongue in a mocking manner.

Luna gritted her teeth, her gaze narrowing at the mocking demon before her.

With a swift motion, Luna leaped backward, creating some distance between herself and the demon. She used the brief respite to assess her opponent's movements, searching for any weaknesses she could exploit.

The demon, sensing her strategy, chuckled darkly.

"Do you think you can escape, little human? There is nowhere you can hide from me."

Lowering his center of gravity he was about to lunge at Luna but a strange tremor jolted through his body, causing him to falter.

Aghhh...

The demon's face contorted in pain and a screeching scream escaped his lips as he clutched his chest.

Momentarily stunned by the sudden turns of events, Luna simply stared as blood spurted from the demon's mouth.

However, she didn't mind the twist in the battle.

Swish...

She quickly regained her composure and seized the opportunity.

Dashing forward, Luna unleashed a flurry of precise and calculated strikes, targeting the demon's weakened state.

With each strike, she could feel the satisfaction of her fists connecting with the demon's body.

The sound of bone cracking and the demon's pained cries filled the air as Luna relentlessly attacked.

At one point, the Demon even lost consciousness momentarily, staggering under the relentless assault. However, Luna didn't stop, she knew the battle would be over only when one of them was dead.

...

Thud...

A lifeless body of a hideous creature with mauled bat-like wings and body that was now barely recognizable fell to the ground.

A massive spike made out of ice was jutting out from the demon's chest, piercing straight through its heart.

Luna stood there, panting heavily, her fists covered in blood and her body bruised.

Her icy-blue eyes were filled with a mix of exhaustion and triumph as she stared down at the lifeless demon before her.

"It's over..."

She whispered before collapsing to the ground, the adrenaline fading from her body as exhaustion finally overtook her.

The last thing she saw before blacking out was the body of a blue haired guy lying motionless on the ground not too far away from her. It was the Demon Contractor, the one she had kicked into the midsection earlier.

Strange...

Why was there a sword wound on his chest?
