Sighing, Jessica jumped off her bed, put on a bra and headed out the front door.
Sloth: who is it?
Pup: your VIP patient.
She softly closed the door behind her, hoping not to wake up her parents. She approached the black Mercedes on her driveway. Hao Zhou was seated on the passenger seat. It was hard to make out with the tinted glass, but she assumed 'John Doe' was sitting at the back.
"What are you doing here? How did you find my place?"
"We're here for a follow up on the surgery," Hao Zhou replied.
"Didn't you read the forms I signed? I had edited it..."
"Yes, no appointments after 6 pm. But now it's after midnight, so technically it's before 6 pm," A voice from the backseat replied.
Jessica was in disbelief. "But still, you can't just show up at my house like this. I can't do anything here. Go to the hospital if it's an emergency."
"What kind of doctor are you? There's a patient in front of you, bleeding and you're going to refuse medical care?" This time it was Hao Zhou who replied.
"Bleeding? The surgery went well. There shouldn't be any excessive bleeding from the wound unless..."
"It was a golfing event," the voice in the backseat interrupted her.
She couldn't believe this patient. He comes in the afternoon demanding a quick surgery and discharge. Despite her warning, he attends the event and made his injury worse. Without thinking, she reached for the handle to open the door to the backseat. Surprisingly, it was unlocked so she invited herself in.
"Did you not read any of the discharge papers and instructions? It said no strenuous activity until you are cleared by me." She immediately removed his clothing surrounding his wound to examine it. "Turn on some lights, would you? I can't see a thing. And do you have a first aid kit or anything?"
Hao Zhou was surprised at her quick and bold actions. 'John Doe' nodded his head in agreement and Hao Zhou gave Jessica a medical kit.
"You call this a medical kit? There's nothing in here that's useful. We need to go to the hospital. DRIVE," Jessica demanded.
'John Doe' winked and nodded again. Hao Zhou instructed the driver and they quickly drove towards the freeway. It wasn't until 15 minutes later when they pulled up to a gate that Jessica realized they weren't going in the direction of the hospital.
"Where are we going?" Jessica questioned.
"My place. The hospital is too far and I have the necessary medical equipment. Also more privacy."
Jessica quickly ran over the scenario in her head. Pup knows that the VIP patient came to the house and I have my phone so she can probably track me down if anything happens. It doesn't seem like they are purposely kidnapping me as I was the one that went into their car. They don't seem to have bad intentions and I can probably take them all down if things go down the wrong path. She decided to follow along. 'It'll be an adventure!'
As they passed the gate, the car drove along a secluded path for 5 minutes before arriving at the underground parking. They soon took the elevator and she was led to a room that was almost the exact replica of a suite in the VIP ward. She quickly found what she needed and redressed the wound.
"That should hold up for a couple days if you follow my instructions and rest. I'll be at the hospital tomorrow morning so you know where to find me if there's a problem." Jessica took off her gloves and instructed, "Tell your chauffeur to give me a ride home would you?"
She was about to leave when someone grabbed her wrist. "It's late, stay here tonight."
She turned back and realized that this was the first time she actually looked at the VIP's face. All the other times she was distracted by the wound she didn't even look up.
He had angular features and a fresh fade on the side. The rest of his black hair was gelled to the side. What caught Jessica's attention was his eyes. Unlike most Asians, his eyes were light brown, almost hazel. They seem to be pleading her to stay.
Seeing her hesitate on deciding, he added, "I'm going to go to the hospital tomorrow morning anyways. Plus, I have plenty of empty guest rooms here."
The adrenaline seemed to wear off, and as if on cue, she yawned. Feeling pretty tired, she didn't want to waste any more energy arguing and agreed.
Hao Zhou showed Jessica the guest room and gave her some clothes to change into as her t-shirt was now covered in blood. Before taking a shower, she took out her phone and checked for updates on the group chat.
Pup: Whoa where are you going? That's not the way to the hospital...
Pup: Oh so that's where he lives... pretty decent.
Wolf: Wait you're okay right? You're not getting kidnapped or anything...?
Sloth: Nah I'm fine. Wound opened up. I'm gonna stay overnight here. Convenience and nice guest room.
Wolf: Haha sure 😉
Sloth: Shut up. Hey @Pup, can you send me info on the VIP? @Wolf, might need you to look over something I've signed...
Pup: Sure, give me a few minutes.
Wolf: What did you misread this time 🤦🏻♀️Please tell me you didn't sign your life away.
Jessica then put down her phone and headed to the bathroom to take a quick shower before changing her clothes and headed off to bed.
