Sirens

The wailing of the police cars could be heard throughout the city's decrepit streets as three cop cars wheeled around turns and through the city before pulling over on the side of the road beside a small house, it's door ajar.

Two cops got out of the first cruiser, while the back of the van opened up and four men wearing armor suits with luminescent blue visors and rifles with red-dot scopes filed out and began their way towards the building.

The two cops stood on the street, watching as the special ops went up the steps and stopped against the wall by the open door. One of the ops held out their arm, a flash of bluish light coming off of his forearm as an energy shield formed. He held the shield in front of him as he placed the rifle over his arm, pointing it through the shield into the building. He began slowly walking in, the blue scan light from his visor sending a dim glow across the house as he scanned it thoroughly, the other three men following after him.

Two other cops got out of their own car, hoping beside the first two, which were Alexander and his deputy, Martis.

"You think they will find anything?" The other cops asked as they walked up to Alexander and Martis. The other cops' names were Aether and Lium.

"Doesn't seem like it, honestly. I doubt the Kokkaku is stupid enough to stay in one place, he most likely ran off somewhere. Not sure where, but, he can't of gone far. We have a chance to find him." Alexander said.

The special ops soldiers filed out of the building, their rifles lowered and their postures relaxed. The lead of the chief of the special ops squad, Dennis, walked towards Alexander as the others stood out front of the building, talking into their coms to report.

"Well? Anything?" Alexander asked.

"No, couldn't see anyone in there." Dennis said, his voice slightly muffled from his helmet. "But, it was definitely a Kokkaku that people heard, there is blood everywhere, as well as a bloody knife. It seems like the Kokkaku tried to kill itself before it finally transformed."

"Huh." Martis said, "You think the event of its attempted suicide is the cause for the transformation? From what I can gather myself, I assume it's the target's first time growing its Exida."

"I'd agree. And I'm not sure if it was caused by the suicide attempt or not." Dennis said. Then he tilted his head. "What? Are you certain? That's… strange."

"What?" Alexander asked.

"According to HQ, the owner of this house is an 18 year old drop out named Onnai Moda." Dennis explained.

"What? 18? You sure?"

"Yes."

"Then that would mean it can't of been is first transformation, right?" Martis asked.

"Yeah, but it sure as hell seems like it was his first. But how is it that it was delayed by two years? Has that ever happened before?" Alexander asked.

"No, not that I'm aware of. Every Kokkaku transforms at 16 years of age. So, it's either he has hidden it all this time and finally messed up, or, this is a unique case." Dennis said.

"Alright. Tell your men to file out, I want them to scatter across the area and search for anyone suspicious, and have them ask residents if they have seen anyone enter or leave this building within the hour." Alexander ordered.

"Yes, sir." Dennis responded before turning around and reporting the order to the rest of his squad.

Alexander looked down at his watch, adjusting his glasses. The light of the street lamp above him cast a sheen over the glass of his watch, and he had to adjust it until he could see the time clearly.

^9:03 PM^

*Hopefully it isn't too late to catch this kid.* Alexander thought, tucking his hands into his pockets. He looked around at the city area, the decrepit buildings, the filth. He couldn't help but have pity on anyone who lived a life in such a state. Then he looked at the house their target lived in. *He is just a kid. Yet, how could we possibly treat such a.. monster.. as human?*

Everything hurt. My body ached and my joints stung with every motion. Sweat beaded down my skin, and I was drenched in the gross, disgusting smell of sweat and blood mixed. I wanted to vomit, but I didn't even know if I could in my current form.

Yamari led me through alleyways, peeking around corners as she watched out for officers or cops, keeping as careful as possible. I was slow and sluggish, not used to my own body. It all felt so wrong. Even my senses were fucked up, I could see red at the edges of my vision and there was an incessant ringing and pounding in my ears.

Yamari waved for me to follow her after she looked around the alley for a long moment.

"Ya..mari… where are we.. going?" I asked.

"Shhh." She hissed just as a car flew by and she pressed up against the wall as water flew through the air onto the sidewalk. She waited until the sound of the car was gone and all could be heard was the buzzing of the street light.

"I don't know." Yamari said honestly. "Just somewhere safe."

"This city.. has no safe place…"

"It does! I mean, how do you think the other Kokkaku's stay hidden so well?" Yamari said.

"But.. where.. could we go?"

"I think I could help you guys." Came a voice just then.

Yamari and I looked up at the same moment, seeing a figure with gleaming blue eyes looking down at them from atop the streetlight.
