Chapter 1 pt.3

I stopped by the sirens and climbed up to where someone was usually posted. Blood was trickling down the ladder and I swallowed. I reached the top and looked in. He was the first to go. I sighed and turned the sirens off and continued to where I was needed most. They were in trouble if the siren man was first to go.

As I approached the house I heard nothing but empty silence which scared me more than screams and cries would ever. I opened the door slowly and a red stain covered the carpet in the hall. Putting my hand over my mouth I walked to the living room where all of the children would normally be.

"Kai? Leo,Theo? Is everybody ok?" I softly whispered as I walked in the room.

Kai was crying her hair and hands covered in dirt as the other children sat around her silently. I took a mental note of who all was here. The only ones missing were the twins.

I knelt next to Kai and hugged her,"Kai, honey, where are Leo and Theo at? And what is that blood stain on the carpet?"

She sobbed harder. "Its from the twins...."Mia said slowly.

I sat down as a wave of nausea passed over me. It was always them who rushed in to help when there was trouble. It was what there father did before he died. Except this time it was them dying to save those they loved.

History was repeating itself.

I stood up and walked toward the front door not stopping until I was outside. I let the tears flow down my face and sobbed quietly. Why was I so stupid? I couldn't protect them forever. Why did I even think I could try?

"I'm sorry Leo and Theo. Im such a failure. It shouldn't have been you two...." I stared at the sky expecting an answer and getting none.

Well at least I knew I had to keep fighting until I got rid of everyone of those demons and their masters. And I wasn't going to stop even if they killed those I loved. It only gave me more of a reason to continue on.
