Chapter 02

My eyes adjusted to the light above me. I hit my mind about the accident and I sat up.

"What the.....where am I ? ", I told to myself.

After close inspection, I found it was a hospital. My clothes were changed too. I looked at my surroundings and only to found random things. I checked on my body where I found some cuts, wounds and some little bruishes. I put my foots down on sterile floor from the bed and hit by an ache in my head, maybe caused by the accident. I also felt a little drowsy and my head spins a bit, it was due to not eating or drinking. I know because I'm very hungry. I began to search the room and found my clothes. I put on my clothes which were stained in blood, after I put on my clothes I went out of the room. The hospital was empty by some reason and I felt really eerie about this. I checked every area of the hospital and found no one, not a single individual except me. I was on the 11th floor of the hospital. That's quite strange.

"I wonder who put me in this hospital ?", I thought to myself.

Then I realise the sound sirens. Maybe ambulance took me here. I approached a nearby elevator and push the button, a few moments after the elevator reached the floor. I went into the elevator and pushed the button to the ground floor. The elevator descends and after some time I reached the ground floor. The lobby was also emptied and few trash cans were fallen here and there spilling contents in it. A light illuminating through the entrance of the hospital which was maybe a street light and stepped towards it. I went out of the hospital, suddenly the cold dry winds s of winter strikes me. It gives me chills. I need to find a store for warm clothes, my clothes were not enough for holding an Alaskan cold. But the most strangest thing was, where the people gone. No one at the streets. Its usual that in this winter there were no people at the streets but not a single species. That's strange. Anyways I have to find a store and put on warm clothes. And for the next thing, I have to find my boyfriend, maybe he can figure out what's going on here. I sneeked out from the store in search of my boyfriend. Its very very cold here than I think, but anyways I have warm clothes and some food and water or I'll surely starve. I was going to the shop where my boyfriend works and suddenly I spotted three peoples. Two are of middle age and one was a teen girl. They were standing in a circle and just staring downwards. It seems so weird.

"Hey !", I yelled.

They turned their heads towards me weirdly.

"What is happening here ? ", I asked to them.

They didn't say word. But then I saw something horrible. A dead body, my heart pounds very fast. Am I cross path with gangsters and I have a doubt that there's something wrong.

"Kill her !", One of the middle age man command.

Oh god, it will not be so good if I stay here anymore so I fled from there but they were following me. Suddenly I got tripped and fell down on the pavement. The duo ran after me and my eyes widened with fear. But suddenly I heard a shot. I close my eyes at the very moment and I opened them again, I saw the teen girl fell down and lied on the pavement motionless. I tried to find the source of the sound and spotted that it was my boyfriend. I quickly got up and ran towards him.

"Ralph, I'm glad to see you again. I'm so scared", I said to him and hugged him as I was shivering with fear.

"Don't worry I'm here with you. No one can harm you", Ralph point the gun towards the middle age man and shot him between his head. Blood splatters out of his head as well as the brain matter and he dropped on the pavement dead.

"Ral...Ralph, wha...what is this ? ", I asked him still shivering.

"I will tell you on the way, come".

We fled from there and arrived at the store where Ralph works. He knocked on the glass door at the front side. Then I spotted a man behind the glass. He was quite look like Asian, maybe from China. He opened the door and we gets in.

"Phew....I thought you all dead", the man said to us.

"Is everything safe ?", Ralph asked the man.

"Ya man....".

"Hey ! I forgot. This is Kim-Young , my friend from China ", Ralph introduced the man.

"You didn't mention him earlier", I said.

"New friend. Just meet a week ago. Okay anyways, now take rest, we have to get away of this place tomorrow morning as soon as possible ".

"Wait. Tell me what's goin' on ?", I asked to Ralph.

"Listen Becky, there's a huge epidemic outbreak happened here turning people into a blood thirsty monster. And after 48 hours, there will be a lockdown happen that will close every borders of Alaska trapping those who can't get out from here in time", Ralph explained to me.

"We have to go to take some supplies. If you don't mind, will you please stay here till we get the supplies", said Kim-Young.

"Okay, but take care of yours". I replied to Ralph.

"Don't worry. We will be okay", said Ralph and he kissed me on my forehead.

I smiled

They left the store. I don't know what are those creatures. I usually saw them in the movies or television series, the creatures usually called as zombies but I don't think they are what I think. One of them can talk but zombies can't and they were much more fierceful than the zombies. What are they ? I put this thought aside for sometime and took rest for sometime. What ? What was that sound ?
