"Got you a new dress," Nikolay said as he closed the door after walking into the room he had left Imani in and the moment he turned around to see her sitting on the floor, he quirked a brow. "What are you doing?"

Imani pursed her lips and rubbed her hands on her thighs as she let out a harsh breath. "... Trying to find my mother," she replied in a hoarse voice and Nikolay clenched his jaw, narrowing his eyes at her.

"I said -"

"I know what you said, Nik," she cut in, rising to her feet while shivering, and his expression darkened for a moment. "Did you fin-"

"No, I didn't find someone who knows where your mother is," he replied and tossed the dress he was holding onto the bed before a knock came on the door. "... Who is it?" he asked while Imani moved to open the door but before she could, he stopped her.

"Uh, hot water," the person on the other side of the door announced just as Imani said, "I asked them for hot water."
