An unfathomable silence entered the Reapers' Den,
But they soon know the visitor from its significant scent.
The reapers froze in place, as her anger was still awake.
Black hair forcing to cover, her unpleasant and sour face.
She was holding her anger. Barely.
As she gazed at the crowd, quickly forming.
Her fists were crumpled shut as she kept moving forward.
A small piece of paper, on the other hand.
Her arms were covered in black tinted patterns.
Her eyes, screaming her cold and disappointed expression.
She ignored every each of the reapers who would come and greet her.
Right now, she only has one goal to mention.
One reaper bravely asked however,
Of why she was heading towards the Head Commander.
She grins and quickly turns around.
"Are you stupid? Fine. I'll tell you right now."
Reapers felt every inch of their bodies rattle.
As what's in front of them, fuming, was Death herself.
She looked at them, and gritted her teeth.
As what she had just received, was no ordinary slip.
"I won't hide the fact that I'm upset,
After all, you left the angels for dead.
You left them to fend on their own,
As if...you do not share the same world.
I...as you know can peer into your deaths,
And I will tell you, no matter how you try, you'll all die nonetheless.
Now hear me, because of your...pathetic excuse,
An archangel, have died protecting young souls.
I am terribly upset.
How can you let this happen?
Look, you all have two possible deaths,
Either on the war, or by God's rage.
I want you to think which one...suits you best."
She was quickly heard by Deltha, the Leader,
Who quickly tried to remain calm, despite her seething anger.
He looks at her, face unamused.
"What do you want me to do? Once the reapers have all burned?"
"Coward. You are a coward Deltha.
Your sister did not die for this."
"I am not a coward! I am just concerned for my own allies!"
"Aren't the angels your allies as well? Why aren't you concerned of them??"
Deltha's eye widened, unsure what to reply next.
He felt shocked once Death pointed her finger on him,
"I...I will not settle for this."
"You may know how we'll die,
But never the exact time.
You are no God, you are just an entity meant to replace the initial Death Spirit.
You have no rights to boss me, and judge my way of things.
I know we'll die, but don't use that fact to make us do your deeds."
"Hah, how funny, you're way braver before, Deltha.
Defying the rules of the Celestial Realm when you stayed with the mortals, pretenting to be human.
That woman you broke your rules for, she is so lucky.
Now, you won't even take the same level of risk, for the whole humanity.
Where is your compassion? Your reason?
Did losing your other eye, blinded you to know this is wrong?
And also...how could you fail to understand what your job really means?
Do you have any idea? What will happen if Lucifer wins?"
"He won't win if God still cares."
"God won't help if you're lacking trust."
"I'm not lacking trust. I know they'll win no matter what."
"Then why are you scared to join them?
Deltha, you're obvious.
"I'm not."
Death lost complete patience and released her scythe,
That was quickly blocked by Deltha's own weapon.
The reapers shivered at the sight,
Not anticipating, if there would be a fight.
"You have been a foolish Supreme Leader."
"Is it wrong to care about things that matter?"
"So the fate of the world don't?"
"You are too cruel, we're not mere expendable creatures."
Death quickly pulled Deltha closer to her chest,
Anger still painted on her greyish face.
Her black hair turned to scarlet red,
Hinting a level of anger, no one could comprehend.
"You are fighting the war, whether you like it or not.
If you do not want your reapers harmed, you take their place.
If you don't...Lucifer will surely be smiling from ear to ear,
Thinking of a hundred ways...to end your race."
The statement brought chills unto his spine.
And quickly paled realizing what he had done.
He looked at his allies, all shivering in fear.
The moment Death, rose the paper she wished just disappear.
"I had a note. Sir Barachiel is dead.
And more of them are endangered of dying.
The greater fate relies on your answer.
Or else, I'll be reading more tragedies on these pieces of paper."
"I...I don't want trouble, I only want what's best for my allies,"
"Then do what's better. Unify."
Deltha slowly turned to look at the reapers once more.
And just looking at their number, made him feel torn.
"I will go in place of them. I and Humility, will send those demons back to hell."
"Good. But make sure to give your best,
I can't cheat nor be use in the war,
But you know which side I support nonetheless.
I do not want your name written on my paper,
So don't die. Not now, not ever."
Death said as her gaze softens.
Deltha only sighs, he should have known this would happen.
Death then handed the paper to Deltha himself.
And upon reading of the way Barachiel died,
Felt guilt, then sudden rage.
"The demons won't learn their lessons themselves."
"How could this happen?"
"He was protecting a bunch of kids inside.
Then that demon, made him fought till he's bloody tired.
He used more than half of his energy to make the barrier strong for the children.
Then he used the supernova, and drained himself.
I...remember, isn't this how Eleazar died as well?
Taking rescue missions nonstop, sharing his energy to other angels, he forgot to save for himself.
You see, if he had not done so, perhaps he would still have enough power to escape Lucifer's face.
But you know angels, duty first...no matter what happens next.
Deltha, Barachiel and Eleazar risked all they have for those souls.
What's stopping you? From answering your call?"
Deltha crumpled his own fists,
Remembering a moment, only bittersweet.
Just as when he and his sister had finally fought side by side,
She just have to sacrifice herself, just so the demons be trapped.
He always hated the sight of death.
And every reaper gone, puts a thorn on his chest.
He felt as if he failed.
And he only feels upset.
"Deltha. It would not be your fault if the reapers die in war.
But you will take part of the deaths, that will occur if you refuse this time."
"I will help, Death. I will.
But as the Supreme Leader,
I won't endanger my own kin.
I will only take half of their energy.
But they will stay here.
I, however, will fight those demons.
If I do not come back,
Place Humility as Leader.
I..need to stick to my words.
My promise,
That no matter what,
I'll protect what my sister loved the most."
...
Deltha had left his realm, accompanied by Death.
He was persuaded, despite Death lying to them all.
She did not peered into their future, she was simply scared to.
But she knew, from the way things are, more would follow.
She looked at Deltha.
Gloomy expression, lack of smile,
He've always been like this.
Death hoped he would be happy once the war would be over,
And promised herself that if she feels something in her chest,
She'd quickly peer to his future.
She always hoped she'd see none.
She've always hoped she made the right decision.
"Deltha?"
"Yes? What could I help you with?"
"Don't think about dying any time soon.
You'll make me guilty."
Deltha gave a small laugh and looked at her in disbelief.
"Seriously? What's with you suddenly?"
"I am serious. If you die, I'll spit on your grave."
"We don't have graves, Death. You're quite amusing though.
Just an hour ago, you were all red."
"But you've always followed every bit of my request, right?"
"Yes. And?"
"Don't die. This will be the last request I'll ask of you.
Don't burden me with the memory that it's my fault."
Deltha felt even more amused.
But somehow, a part of him felt touched.
"Fine, I won't die or whatever.
I mean, I still have to lead my reapers.
I still have to come back and scold them for being uncareful.
I still need to yell at humans for being so weak and feeble."
"You do what you want after.
Just come back,
If not, well, you're a loser."
"So that's why people hate death,
Your mouth just won't shut up, eh?
For a moment I thought you were really worried,
Pff, I'll cut your hair in an ugly style once I come back,
Better prepare."
Death's steps halts to a stop after the statement.
And the man quickly stopped too,
afraid she had been offended.
"Hey, I wasn't being serious, it was just a bante-"
"I'll be looking forward to that. I'm sorry if I had sputtered cruel things before.
But I'm really, truly hoping...
You'll see me later."
Deltha smiles at her,
And then moved forward,
Hoping to aid the world.
...
Ken on the other hand felt a familiar scent coming from behind.
He felt overwhelmed, since Stacy was still fighting back.
If he gets to fight two of them at once,
Winning for him, meant a slimmer chance.
He was planning to cutting Stacy's hands off with his scythe,
When his worst scenario was confirmed in sight.
A mist of smoke could be seen.
Spreading, distracting him.
Within seconds, a demon then appeared, expression both pleased and unpleased to meet him.
It's as if he was waiting for this,
But also hating Ken with everything he have and been.
His blue eyes scanned his posture,
His face, his expression.
And in the back of his mind, laughed.
Compared to him, he was only a mere boy.
No way such little experience,
Would bring him threat and demise.
He felt relieved knowing that,
He may be able to recover his third eye.
"You know...compared to the earlier holders,
You look like you've just recieved your power.
If you value your life dearly, kindly surrender you eyes.
But if you don't, well...I guess that's also fine."
"I have done nothing wrong to you."
"Yes, but your ancestors did. So unfortunately, you have to pay for it."
Barbatos replied, as Ken could still not believe it.
The demon did not feel any threat despite knowing his prophecy.
Despite knowing who he was and what he did.
He seemed relax, as if he knows his every move.
He may have been that strong,
So Ken gulped and prepared to move.
He does not look like one of the Demon Lords.
But even with such fact, he must act careful.
The demon's confidence must meant something.
It was even odder, that he was specifically targeting him.
No mention of Lucifer, no hint that it was for something else.
It seemed too personal.
So this demon isn't just a simple pest.
Barbatos, a duke of hell,
Smiles wide, since he knows Ken well.
After all, he have already peered into his past.
And by the looks of it,
He seemed unamazed of what he accomplished so far.
"It will be child's play,
This will end up fast."
Ken wasted no time and tightened the grip on his weapon,
But before he could strike,
Stacy quickly interfered,
Making his problems harder than it was,
And his readings of the future, quite unclear.
More chapters soon! Enjoy! Thank you for reading!!! More exciting parts about to start!!!
