Chapter 3

Feeling my feet hit solid ground and the awful churning in my stomach, I knew the apparition was completed. What I didn't know was side along apparition was going to suck this hard.

Not wanting to give Professor the satisfaction of me humiliating myself, I held the vomit back with sheer will.

"You know professor, you could have at least given me a few more seconds to prep myself. I didn't think an esteemed professor would be so competitive with a child."

All my words got me was a cold shoulder and a small snicker as she made her way over to greet who I assumed to be Tom, the bar keep. She really does have a rather uncanny likeness to a cat, I wonder if her likeness was always like this or her personality took a change after the animagus transformation.

Finally feeling my stomache settle down, I followed after Professor McGonagall while taking in the scenery. I Must say that it's everything I imagined it to be, there were colorful and oddly dressed wizards and witches all around, and the bar though a little dingy looking, gave a lively atmosphere. The wizarding world truly is eccentric.

"Well if it isn't Professor McGonagall, how are you doing this fine morning?"

Tom was rather jolly and friendly in his way of speaking, makes you want to smile and have a good laugh with him.

"Hello Tom, I'm doing just fine. I'm taking this young man shopping for the new semester."

Once she finished speaking, I decided that it was the perfect time to introduce myself.

"Hello, my name is Greyson. I'm glad to be here. Magic truly is fascinating and convenient, the professor made furniture for me out of rubble."

'I think that should be pretty good for a first impression.' I thought to myself as I watched him laugh happily.

Hopefully this might be enough to let me have a little part time job here before school starts.

"Yes, now I believe we should get going. We are running late as it is. Thank you for the warm greeting Tom, we will be on our way."

Well it would seem it was time to get going. I wanted to spend more time here to better Tom up a bit, but there is always next time.

Making our way to the deadend in the back, the professor begins explaining the process of entering the alley.

"Now watch closely as I won't be here to let you in next year, but if you're really have issues next time feel free to ask Tom.To enter, you can tap a specific brick in the wall three times, counting three up and two across from the rubbish bin."

At the end of her demonstration,The brick quivered and a small hole appeared. The wall continued to dismantle itself until a large archway was formed, but the surprises didn't end there.

The legendary Diagon Ally was shown in all its glory. It looked packed with shops of all sizes, going from restaurants, bars, and apothecaries. I'm sure if you need something there is a shop for it here.

Snapping me out of my wonder professor McGonagall began to speak.

"First we need to visit Gringotts, as there is something we need to confirm there."

Though I was curious, I decided it be best to not be nosy as it's probably just professor stuff she has to check on.

Walking through the Alley I noticed that it was actually pretty empty unlike the vibrant depiction of full streets of people shopping, though I'm guessing the lack of people is due to the time of year.

Finally making it to Gringotts I was greeted with the sight of an imposing snow-white multistory building, it's a truly magnificent piece of architecture.

Upon entry of the bank, the exterior didn't overshadow the interior one bit. The building was spacious with goblins all over doing their work.

"You know professor, with how this building was constructed, I would love for them to build my home in the future. They are obviously very talented." I said aloud to the Professor

She only gave a nod of understanding as we made our way to the front most podium.

"We would like to check the claim this child has on the Sayre family vault"

I must say that wasn't what I was expecting her to say. I haven't read anything about there being a noble family by the name Sayre in the series. There must have been some deviation from the main story.

"Very well, bring the child" the goblin said in a rough voice.

I was taken to a smaller room with a pedestal in the center. Extending out from the pedestal was a large magic circle underneath, covering the entire floor.

"Now, there really isn't such thing as a blood inheritance test here at gringotts. Though we do need a drop of blood, the magic circle underneath will link the paper on the pedestal with the tapestry in the family homes" the goblin explained upon entering the room, then continued to speak.

"The family tapestry are created with a special blood magic that adds you to the family tree upon your birth. Long story short we will be placing a drop of your blood on the parchment, if you do share relations with the direct head of the family, it will show only one generation being your parents. In the previous heads final moments, a letter was sent with the name of the child and parents he must have to be heir, making this even easier for us."

Finishing his explanation he took out the letter the head of the family sent before his death. Maybe I actually do have family in this life, wouldn't that be wonderful.

"Thank you for the generous explanation it was very helpful, now do I place blood on the parchment at anytime then?"

With a confirmed nod, I walked over to the pedestal and quickly grabbed the small knife on the side. Cutting my thumb, I watched as the drop of blood hit the parchment then spread out. Only a few seconds passed when my name with two others above mine were shown.

The father showed Adonis Sayre, which wasn't surprising as wizard family usually use the fathers name as the child's middle name. What caught me off guard was the mothers name, Bellatrix Sayre née Black.

Next to the names I saw Adonis was deceased but Bellatrix was alive. Maybe with how she actually had a child with my father, then it could mean she isn't crazy for Voldemort in the life. I looked up towards the professor with a little hope in my eyes.

"Professor, I see here my mother is still alive. Is it possible for me to meet her, I'm pretty excited to know I have family out there." I asked hoping for the best but prepared for the worst case scenario.

"I'm sorry Greyson, but you won't be able to meet her anytime soon. I'll tell you more when you're older."

She looked quite sadden when she told me that, confirming my suspicions. I wonder how I was even born then, knowing full well she'd only have the hots for Voldemort himself.

Interrupting my thoughts the goblin spoke with a tad bit more respect, which brought me to think my family must be loaded. Goblins don't respect much of anything other than money and warriors.

"Welcome back Greyson Adonis Sayre, heir to the Noble and most Ancient house of Sayre. I am you vault manager Gobrook." He said as he pulled out my vault key from the letter he was carrying.

"This is your vault key. Please follow me to claim your heir ring to make all proceeding official."

I looked at the professor with questioning look about the heir ring. Knowing what it is but knew it best to have the professor explain it to me, also explain what they are usually capable of.

"Yes, the heir ring signifies that you were chosen as next head of the family. Old families commissioned the goblin to create an heir ring and head ring so that the family could show who had the power in decision making for the family. The ring also contains a function to detect poison, stop the intrusion of the mind and can't be taken off without the permission of the wearer. Upon the death of the heir or head the ring will apperate itself back to its vault in gringotts."

Finished with her explanation she looked at me for any questions on the matter.

"Thanks professor, your guidance helps out a lot when filling in the blanks."

We walked in silence from then on, taking the roller coaster of gringrotts down to my vault. The scenery around was beautiful filled with vaults all around the walls.

We finally came to a stop at vault number 680, if I remember correctly Harry's vault isn't to far away. Using the key you can hear the mechanism in the vault moving around unlocking. With the final click, the vault opened.

All I could see was a sea of gold with no end. I didn't think my family would be this loaded, how far does my family tree go back? I must have been staring for some time because I was taken from my daze by a small nudge from professor McGonagall.

Seeing as I was out of my daze Gobrook pointed into the vault at a pedestal sitting in the center of the room. There were two small box sitting on top.

"On the pedestal lay both the heir and head rings. The heir ring will be on the left, a barrier will be on the heads ring until you reach adulthood. Please claim your birthright and grab whatever else you may need. We will wait here, as the blood ward prevents those not of Sayre lineage from entrance."

Finishing what he needed to say, he turned around and waited for my return. While Professor McGonagall gave me a nod and stood with Gobrook.

Standing upon the rings I got a good look at both of them. They were beautiful crafted, The heads ring was magnificent with a blue snake popping out the center with silver and black engraving the outer of the ring. The heir ring wasn't as splendid, but it still carried its own charm with a curled up silver snake in the center of the ring and the rest of the ring engraved silver and blue. (Image)

Ready to finally get out of gringotts to get my school supplies, I grabbed the heir ring that adjusted to my middle finger and decided to ask the Gobrook for an extended pouch linked to my vault. I was not going to carry around a sack of gold like a lunatic.

Luckily we made it back to the entrance no problem and I received my money pouch from Gobrook to which I gave my thanks and followed the professor out the building.

"Well I don't know about you professor, but I'm ready to get shopping." I said while patting my trusty new wallet.

"Very well, I will grab the essential items that your presence isn't needed for, while you get your wand and fitted for you school robes." She said while taking some galleons from me for my school supplies, thanks to me not being broke I didn't need to take a loan from Hogwarts.

"Thank you for the confidence Professor, let's meet at the wand shop then once everything is purchased" I commented as I gave her a saluted and ran off in the direction for my robes.

Finally a start to my new and surprisingly wealthy life.
